¹พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ความปรารถนาในจิตใจของข้าพเจ้าและคำวิงวอนขอต่อพระเจ้าเพื่อคนอิสราเอลนั้น คือขอให้เขารอด

¹Brothers, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God is for Israel, that they may be saved.

²ข้าพเจ้าเป็นพยานให้เขาว่า เขามีความกระตือรือร้นที่จะปรนนิบัติพระเจ้า แต่หาได้เป็นตามปัญญาไม่

²For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

³เพราะว่าเขาไม่รู้จักความชอบธรรมของพระเจ้า แต่อุตส่าห์จะตั้งความชอบธรรมของตนขึ้น เขาจึงไม่ได้ยอมอยู่ในความชอบธรรมของพระเจ้า

³For being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn’t subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

⁴เพราะว่าพระคริสต์ทรงเป็นจุดจบของพระราชบัญญัติ เพื่อให้ทุกคนที่มีความเชื่อได้รับความชอบธรรม

⁴For Christ is the fulfillment or, completion, or end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

⁵โมเสสได้เขียนเรื่องความชอบธรรมซึ่งมีพระราชบัญญัติเป็นมูลฐานว่า `คนใดที่ประพฤติตามสิ่งเหล่านั้นจะได้ชีวิตโดยการประพฤตินั้น'

⁵For Moses writes about the righteousness of the law, “The one who does them will live by them.” Leviticus 18:5

⁶แต่ความชอบธรรมที่มีความเชื่อเป็นมูลฐานว่าอย่างนี้ว่า "อย่านึกในใจของตัวว่า ใครจะขึ้นไปบนสวรรค์" (คือจะเชิญพระคริสต์ลงมาจากเบื้องบน)

⁶But the righteousness which is of faith says this, “Don’t say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ Deuteronomy 30:12 (that is, to bring Christ down);

⁷หรือ "ใครจะลงไปยังที่ลึก" (คือจะเชิญพระคริสต์ขึ้นมาจากความตายอีก)

⁷or, ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ Deuteronomy 30:13 (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.)”

⁸แต่ความชอบธรรมนั้นว่าอย่างไร ก็ว่า "ถ้อยคำนั้นอยู่ใกล้ท่าน อยู่ในปากของท่านและอยู่ในใจของท่าน" คือคำแห่งความเชื่อที่เราทั้งหลายประกาศอยู่นั้น

⁸But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart”; Deuteronomy 30:14 that is, the word of faith, which we preach:

⁹คือว่าถ้าท่านจะรับด้วยปากของท่านว่า พระเยซูทรงเป็นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และจะเชื่อในจิตใจของท่านว่าพระเจ้าได้ทรงชุบพระองค์ให้เป็นขึ้นมาจากความตาย ท่านจะรอด

⁹that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

¹⁰ด้วยว่าความเชื่อด้วยใจก็นำไปสู่ความชอบธรรม และการยอมรับด้วยปากก็นำไปสู่ความรอด

¹⁰For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

¹¹เพราะมีข้อพระคัมภีร์ว่า `ผู้ใดที่เชื่อในพระองค์นั้นก็จะไม่ได้รับความอับอาย'

¹¹For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.” Isaiah 28:16

¹²เพราะว่าพวกยิวและพวกกรีก ไม่ทรงถือว่าต่างกัน ด้วยว่าทรงเป็นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าองค์เดียวกันของคนทั้งปวง ซึ่งทรงโปรดอย่างบริบูรณ์แก่คนทั้งปวงที่ทูลขอต่อพระองค์

¹²For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him.

¹³เพราะว่า `ทุกคนที่จะร้องออกพระนามขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าก็จะรอด'

¹³For, “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Joel 2:32

¹⁴แต่ผู้ที่ยังไม่เชื่อในพระองค์จะทูลขอต่อพระองค์อย่างไรได้ และผู้ที่ยังไม่ได้ยินถึงพระองค์จะเชื่อในพระองค์อย่างไรได้ และเมื่อไม่มีผู้ใดประกาศให้เขาฟัง เขาจะได้ยินอย่างไรได้

¹⁴How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher?

¹⁵และถ้าไม่มีใครใช้เขาไป เขาจะไปประกาศอย่างไรได้ ตามที่มีคำเขียนไว้แล้วว่า `เท้าของคนเหล่านั้นที่ประกาศข่าวประเสริฐแห่งสันติสุข และประกาศข่าวประเสริฐแห่งสิ่งอันประเสริฐ ก็งามสักเท่าใด'

¹⁵And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Good News of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” Isaiah 52:7

¹⁶แต่มิใช่ทุกคนได้เชื่อฟังข่าวประเสริฐนั้น เพราะอิสยาห์ได้กล่าวไว้ว่า `พระองค์เจ้าข้า ใครเล่าได้เชื่อสิ่งที่เขาได้ยินจากเราทั้งหลาย'

¹⁶But they didn’t all listen to the glad news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” Isaiah 53:1

¹⁷ฉะนั้นความเชื่อเกิดขึ้นได้ก็เพราะการได้ยิน และการได้ยินเกิดขึ้นได้ก็เพราะการประกาศพระวจนะของพระเจ้า

¹⁷So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

¹⁸ข้าพเจ้าถามว่า "เขาทั้งหลายไม่ได้ยินหรือ" เขาได้ยินแล้วจริงๆ `เสียงของพวกเขากระจายออกไปทั่วแผ่นดินโลก และถ้อยคำของพวกเขาประกาศออกไปถึงที่สุดปลายพิภพ'

¹⁸But I say, didn’t they hear? Yes, most certainly, “Their sound went out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” Psalm 19:4

¹⁹ข้าพเจ้าจึงถามว่า "พลอิสราเอลไม่เข้าใจหรือ" ตอนแรกโมเสสกล่าวว่า `เราจะให้เจ้าทั้งหลายอิจฉาผู้ที่ไม่ใช่ชนชาติ เราจะยั่วโทสะเจ้าด้วยประชาชาติที่เขลาชาติหนึ่ง'

¹⁹But I ask, didn’t Israel know? First Moses says, “I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, with a nation void of understanding I will make you angry.” Deuteronomy 32:31

²⁰แล้วอิสยาห์กล้ากล่าวว่า `คนเหล่านั้นที่มิได้แสวงหาเราได้พบเรา เราได้ปรากฏแก่คนที่มิได้ถามหาเรา'

²⁰Isaiah is very bold, and says, “I was found by those who didn’t seek me. I was revealed to those who didn’t ask for me.” Isaiah 65:1

²¹แต่ท่านได้กล่าวถึงพวกอิสราเอลว่า `เรายื่นมือของเราออกตลอดวันต่อชนชาติหนึ่งซึ่งไม่เชื่อฟังและดื้อรั้น'

²¹But as to Israel he says, “All day long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.” Isaiah 65:2
