1 Corinthians

8

1Kakaliliua-na, mpotompo'wiwi-a pongkoni' to rapopepue' hi pinotau. Makono moto-le to ni'uli': kita' to Kristen, monoto-mi nono-ta omea, ta'inca ka'uma-na ria pue' ntani' -na ngkai Alata'ala. Aga ku'uli' -kokoi: ngkai kamonoto nono-ta toe, ria to jadi' molangko nono-ra. Agina-pi-hawo ma'ahi' -ta hi doo pai' mporohoi nono doo.
1Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth.
2Tauna to mpo'uli': "Monoto-mi-kuna nono-ku," tapi' uma ria ahi' -na, kakoo-kono-na, ko'ia monoto mpu'u nono-na hewa to kasipato' -na.
2If any man thinketh that he knoweth anything, he knoweth not yet as he ought to know;
3Aga tauna to mpu'u-mpu'u mpoka'ahi' Alata'ala, Alata'ala mpo'inca ihi' nono-na.
3but if any man loveth God, the same is known by him.
4Jadi', ane to mpobelahi pongkoni' to rapopepue' hi pinotau, ni'uli' ma'ala moto takoni', apa' ta'inca moto ka'uma-na ria pue' ntani' -na ngkai Alata'ala, hawe'ea lence to rapue' hi dunia' tohe'i, boa' omea-wadi.
4Concerning therefore the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is [anything] in the world, and that there is no God but one.
5Wori' nyala moto to rapue' manusia', to rahanga' pue' pai' karampua, ba to hi langi' ba to hi wongko dunia'.
5For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth; as there are gods many, and lords many;
6Aga hi kita' -tana, muntu' hadua Alata'ala, Hi'a-mi Tuama-ta to mpajadi' hawe'ea to ria, Hi'a-wadi toaa' katuwua' -ta. Pai' hadua wo'o-wadi Pue' -ta, Yesus Kristus, Hi'a-mi to napopale Alata'ala mpajadi' hawe'ea to ria, Hi'a to mpowai' -ta katuwua'.
6yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through him.
7Aga nau' -pa hewa toe, uma hawe'ea to Kristen to monoto nono-ra hewa toe. Ria-ra to mepue' hi pinotau kako'ia-ra jadi' to Kristen, pai' duu' tempo toi ane mpohilo-ra pongkoni' to rapopepue' hi pinotau, ra'uli' hi rala nono-ra: "Tetu-le pepue' hi pinotau-hana!" Jadi', ane mpokoni' mpu'u-ra pongkoni' tohe'e, hi rala nono-ra ra'epe hewa mojeko' -ra, apa' morara' -pidi nono-ra.
7Howbeit there is not in all men that knowledge: but some, being used until now to the idol, eat as [of] a thing sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
8Kakoo-kono-na, pongkoni' uma mpokamohu' -ta hi Alata'ala ba mpogaa' -ta ngkai Alata'ala. Ane takoni', uma-ta morasi'. Ane uma takoni', uma wo'o-ta morugi.
8But food will not commend us to God: neither, if we eat not, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better.
9Aga pelompehi mpu'u ompi'. Nau' ma'ala moto-ta mpokoni' pongkoni' toe apa' monoto-mi nono-tae, aga neo' tabawai doo-ta to ko'ia moroho pepangala' -na mpokoni', alaa-na nakoni' pai' napojeko'.
9But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to the weak.
10Patuju-ku hewa tohe'i: Rapa' -na ria-ta to mpo'uli' monoto-mi nono-ta, ta'uli' uma moapa ngkoni' pongkoni' to rapopepue' hi pinotau. Jadi', hilou mpu'u-ta ngkoni' hi rala tomi pepuea' hi pinotau. Pai' ria hadua doo-ta mpohilo-ta ngkoni' hi ree. Hiaa' bo doo-ta tohe'ei, morara' -pidi nono-na ba ma'ala takoni' ba uma-di. Jadi', apa' nahilo-ta tohe'e-e, daho' lau wo'o-imi-hawo mpokoni' pongkoni' tetu.
10For if a man see thee who hast knowledge sitting at meat in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?
11Ka'omea-na, ngkai kanoto nono-ta tetu-e, tapanawu' lau-imi ompi' -ta to morara' -pidi nono-na toei, apa' tabawai-i mpobabehi to na'epe uma wali nababehi. Hiaa' tauna tetu, ompi' hampepangalaa' -ta to natolo' Kristus hante kamate-na.
11For through thy knowledge he that is weak perisheth, the brother for whose sake Christ died.
12Jadi', kehi-ta tetu ompi' taposala', apa' tapakasusa' nono-na ompi' -ta to morara' -pidi nono-na. Pai' meliu ngkai toe, kehi-ta tetu taposala' hi poncilo Kristus.
12And thus, sinning against the brethren, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, ye sin against Christ.
13Toe pai' ku'uli' -kokoi: ane rapa' -na ngkai kehi-ku mpokoni' bau' ba napa-napa pai' alaa-na monawu' ompi' -ku, bate uma-apa ngkoni' bau' toe duu' kahae tuwu' -ku. Nee-neo' mpai' ngkai aku' -kuna pai' monawu' ompi' -ku toei.
13Wherefore, if meat causeth my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh for evermore, that I cause not my brother to stumble.
