3

1Ba hangkuja kahae-na oti toe, rata-mi Yohanes Topeniu' hi papada to wao' hi Yudea, pai' natepu'u-mi mpopalele Lolita Pue' hi ntodea,
1And in those days cometh John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, saying,
2na'uli' -raka: "Medea-mokoi ngkai jeko' -ni, apa' neo' rata-mi tempo-na Alata'ala jadi' Magau' hi dunia'."
2Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3Yohanes toe-imi to nalowa nabi Yesaya owi. Na'uli' Yesaya hewa toi: Ria tauna to mekio' hi papada to wao', na'uli': `Neo' rata-imi Pue'! Porodo ami' -miki ohea-na. Nipakalempe ami' -mi ohea to natara mpai'.'"
3For this is he that was spoken of through Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.
4Pohea-na Yohanes rababehi ngkai wulu porewua to rahanga' unta. Salepe' -na ngkai kuliba. Koni' -na lari pai' ue wani.
4Now John himself had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey.
5Wori' tauna to hilou hi papada to wao' doko' mpo'epe lolita-na. Ria-ra ngkai ngata Yerusalem, pai' ngkai humalili' tana' Yudea, ria wo'o ngkai ngata-ngata to hampanca'ua ue Yordan.
5Then went out unto him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about the Jordan;
6Hilou-ra mpangaku' jeko' -ra, pai' naniu' -ra hi ue Yordan tanda kamedea-ra ngkai jeko' -ra.
6and they were baptized of him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
7Wori' wo'o pangkeni agama Yahudi to rahanga' to Parisi pai' to Saduki tumai mpopeniu' hi Yohanes. Kanahilo-ra rata, na'uli' -raka: "He koi' to bengku' gau' -ni! Napa pai' tumai mpopeniu' -koie? Ba ni'uli' -koina, ma'ala mpai' nipasalewa roe Alata'ala to neo' mporumpa' -koi!
7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said unto them, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8Ane bongko medea-mokoi ngkai jeko' -ni, babehi-mokoi gau' to lompe'.
8Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of repentance:
9Pai' neo' nipoperaha kamuli-na Abraham-koi, neo' ni'uli' hi rala nono-ni: `Uma-hawo mpai' nahuku' -kai Alata'ala.' Tetu-e uma makono! Bona ni'inca: muli Abraham bisa napajadi' Alata'ala ngkai watu-watu toe lau.
9and think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
10Neo' rata-mi pehuku' Alata'ala! Pehuku' -na hewa pati to rodo ami' -mi hi tawu kaju. Butu ngkaju-na to uma lompe' wua' -na, bate ratoki pai' ratene' hi rala apu."
10And even now the axe lieth at the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
11Na'uli' wo'o-mi Yohanes: "Aku' toi mponiu' -koi hante ue, tanda kamedea-ni ngkai jeko' -ni. Tapi' tumai-i mpai' ngkabokoa' ngkai aku' hadua to meliu kuasa-na ngkai aku'. Bangku' jadi' pahawaa' -na to mpokeni sapatu' -na, uma-a-kuwo natao. Hi'a mpai' to mponiu' -koi hante Inoha' Tomoroli' pai' hante apu.
11I indeed baptize you in water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and [in] fire:
12Hi'a ma'ala rarapai' -ki tauna to mpowiri' pae. Nagaa' pae to mo'ihi ngkai to lopa' -na duu' -na me'itu'. Pae to mo'ihi napuna' hi rala wilulu, pai' to lopa' -na nasuwe hi rala apu to jela' ncuu duu' kahae-hae-na."
12whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing-floor; and he will gather his wheat into the garner, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.
13Nto'u toe, Yesus tumai ngkai tana' Galilea rata hi ue Yordan. Rata hi ria, mpopeniu' wo'o-i-hawo hi Yohanes.
13Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14Tapi' Yohanes, uma-i daho' mponiu' -i, pai' na'uli' -ki: "Kakoo-kono-na, aku' toi-dile to toto-na mpopeniu' hi Iko-e, hiaa' Iko lau-di to tumai hi aku'!"
14But John would have hindered him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15Natompoi' Yesus: "Niu' -ama-hana. Natao moto tababehi toi, bona tatuku' hawe'ea konoa Alata'ala." Ngkai ree, naniu' mpu'u-imi.
15But Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer [it] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffereth him.
16Ka'oti-na Yesus raniu', mencore-imi ngkai rala ue. Tebea ncorobaa-mi langi', pai' nahilo-hawo, Inoha' Alata'ala mana'u tumai hewa danci mangkebodo, hompo hi Hi'a.
16And Jesus when he was baptized, went up straightway from the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him;
17Oti toe, ra'epe-mi lolita Alata'ala ngkai langi' to mpo'uli': "Hi'a toi-mi ana' -ku to kupe'ahi'. Hi'a-mi to mpakagoe' nono-ku."
17and lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
