1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, if they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2Toi-mi pompetonoi-na bona ta'inca hema to nakuasai Inoha' Alata'ala: hawe'ea tauna to mpangaku' Yesus Kahi'a-na Magau' Topetolo' to mewali manusia', tauna toe-ramo to napo'ana' Alata'ala.

3and every spirit which does not confess Jesus Christ come in flesh is not of God: and this is that [power] of the antichrist, [of] which ye have heard that it comes, and now it is already in the world.
4Aga koi' ana' -ku, napo'ana' Alata'ala-mokoi, pai' nidagi-ramo nabi to boa' toera, apa' Noto to ria hi rala nono-ni meliu kabaraka' -na ngkai noto to hi rala nono-ra to uma mepangala' hi Pue'.
4*Ye* are of God, children, and have overcome them, because greater is he that [is] in you than he that [is] in the world.
5Nabi to boa' toera, ngkai dunia' to dada'a toi-ra. Toe pai' tudui' -ra mehupa' ngkai dunia' to dada'a toi, pai' tauna to uma mepangala' hi Pue' mpo'epe pai' mpotarima tudui' -ra.

6Aga kita' ompi', napo'ana' Alata'ala-tamo. Tauna to mpo'inca Alata'ala mpo'epe pai' mpotarima tudui' -ta. Tauna to uma napo'ana' Alata'ala uma mpotarima tudui' -ta. Toe-mi pompetonoi-na bona ta'inca hema to nakuasai Noto to makono pai' hema to nakuasai noto to mebagiu.
6*We* are of God; he that knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
7Ompi' -ompi' to kupe'ahi'! Momepoka'ahi' -tamo hadua bo hadua, apa' ahi' mehuwu ngkai Alata'ala. Hawe'ea tauna to mpoka'ahi' doo-ra, hira' -mi to napo'ana' Alata'ala pai' to mpo'inca Alata'ala.

8Tauna to uma mpoka'ahi' doo-ra, ko'ia-ra mpo'incai Alata'ala, apa' Alata'ala-hana, ma'ahi' -i.
8He that loves not has not known God; for God is love.
9Hewa toi-mi Alata'ala mpopehuwu ahi' -na hi kita': Ana' -na to Hadudua nahubui tumai hi dunia', bona kita' mporata katuwua' ngkai Ana' -na toei.
9Herein as to us has been manifested the love of God, that God has sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10Toi-mi to ra'uli' ahi'. Bela kita' to ri'ulu mpoka'ahi' Alata'ala. Alata'ala-hana to ri'ulu mpoka'ahi' -ta, duu' -na mpohubui-mi Ana' -na tumai jadi' tolo' woto-ta bona jeko' -ta ra'ampungi.
10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son a propitiation for our sins.
11Ompi' -ompi' to kupe'ahi'! Apa' wae-mi kabohe ahi' Alata'ala hi kita' -e, toe pai' kana momepoka'ahi' wo'o-ta-tawo hadua bo hadua.
11Beloved, if God has so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12Ko'ia ria haduaa to mpohilo-i Alata'ala. Aga nau' wae, ane momepoka'ahi' -tamo hadua bo hadua, Alata'ala tida hintuwu' hante kita', pai' incana mpu'u hi pokehii-ta katapoka'ahi' -na Alata'ala.
12No one has seen God at any time: if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13Toi-mi pompetonoi-na bona ta'inca katida-ta hintuwu' hante Alata'ala, pai' Alata'ala hante kita': apa' nawai' -tamo Inoha' -na to moroli'.

14And *we* have seen, and testify, that the Father has sent the Son [as] Saviour of the world.
15Hema to mpangaku' Kayesus-na Ana' Alata'ala, Alata'ala tida hintuwu' hante hira', pai' hira' hante Alata'ala.
15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
16Toe pai' ta'inca-mi pai' tapangala' -mi kanapoka'ahi' -ta Alata'ala.
16And *we* have known and have believed the love which God has to us. God is love, and he that abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
17Ane mpoka'ahi' -ta ompi' -ta, toi-mi pompetonoi-na katapoka'ahi' -na mpu'u-i Alata'ala, alaa-na daho' -ta mponyanyo-i hi Eo Kiama. Daho' -ta mponyanyo-i, apa' kehi-ta hi rala dunia' toi hewa kehi-na Kristus.
17Herein has love been perfected with us that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, that even as *he* is, *we* also are in this world.
18Ane ta'inca mpu'u ahi' Alata'ala hi kita', uma-tapa me'eka' hi Alata'ala. Ahi' -na to gana toe mporohoi nono-ta, pai' uma-tapa me'eka'. Ane tapoka'eka' pehuku' -na Alata'ala, batua-na, ko'ia ta'incai mpu'u ahi' -na hi kita'.
18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has torment, and he that fears has not been made perfect in love.
19Kita' ma'ahi', apa' Alata'ala-mi to ri'ulu mpoka'ahi' -ta.
19*We* love because *he* has first loved us.
20Tauna to mpo'uli': "Kupoka'ahi' -i Alata'ala," pai' -i mpokahuku' moto ompi' -na, boa' -i-tawo'. Apa' ane uma-i mpoka'ahi' ompi' -na to nahilo, peliu-liu-nami Alata'ala to uma nahiloi.
20If any one say, I love God, and hate his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?
21Jadi', toi-mi hawa' Kristus hi kita': hema to mpoka'ahi' Alata'ala, kana mpoka'ahi' ompi' -ra wo'o.
21And this commandment have we from him, That he that loves God love also his brother.
