1Sura toi ngkai aku' Totu'a, kupakatu hi bale-ku Gayus, to kupoka'ahi' mpu'u.
1The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth.
2Bale! Mosampaya-a bona seha' -ko pai' bona mporata-ko kalompea' hi rala hawe'ea to nubabehi, hewa kao' -nu mporata kalompea'.
2Beloved, I desire that in all things thou shouldest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.
3Goe' lia nono-ku, apa' ba hangkuja dua ompi' hampepangalaa' -ta rata hi rehe'i, mpokeni kareba ngkai retu. Ra'uli': tida-ko mpangala' tudui' to makono, pai' po'ingku-nu mpotuku' oa' tudui' to makono.
3For I rejoiced exceedingly when [the] brethren came and bore testimony to thy [holding fast the] truth, even as *thou* walkest in truth.
4Uma ria to kupokagoe' melabi ngkai tohe'i, mpo'epe kareba to mpo'uli' ana' -ku mpotuku' ncuu tudui' to makono.
4I have no greater joy than these things that I hear of my children walking in the truth.
5Bale! Goe' -a apa' tida oa' -ko mpotulungi ompi' -ta to mehani hi ngata-nu. Nau' to ko'ia-ra nu'incai, nutulungi oa' -ra.
5Beloved, thou doest faithfully [in] whatever thou mayest have wrought towards the brethren and that strangers,
6Hira' toe-mi to mpotompo'wiwi ahi' -nu hi rehe'i hi hawe'ea ompi' hampepangalaa' -ta. Wae-pi, kusarumaka-ko mpope'ongko' lompe' -ra, bona ma'ala-ra mpokaliliu pomakoa' -ra. Pope'ongko' -ra hewa to natao hi suro Alata'ala, bona goe' -i Alata'ala.
6(who have witnessed of thy love before [the] assembly,) in setting forward whom on their journey worthily of God, thou wilt do well;
7Apa' ompi' -ta toera momako' hilou mpokeni hanga' Pue' Yesus. Pai' uma-ra mporatai napa-napa ngkai tauna to uma mepangala' hi Pue'.
7for for the name have they gone forth, taking nothing of those of the nations.
8Jadi', masipato' lia-ta mpotulungi-ra, bona hewa to tadohei-ramo hi rala pobago-ra mpokeni kareba to makono.
8*We* therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow-workers with the truth.
9Ria-mi sura-ku hi hawe'ea ompi' hampepangalaa' -ta hi retu. Tapi' Diotrefes-hana, uma-i mposaile' lolita-kai, apa' mpoiwongko huraa-na oa' -i-hana.
9I wrote something to the assembly; but Diotrephes, who loves to have the first place among them, receives us not.
10Jadi', ane rata-a-damo mpai', kuwongka po'ingku-na to dada'a pai' petuntui' -na hi kai'. Uma muntu' toe to nababehi. Meliu ngkai toe, ane ompi' -ta to mpokeni Kareba Lompe' mehani hi ngata-ni, oja' -i mpotarima-ra. Pai' natagi wo'o-ra to doko' mpotarima-ra, pai' uma-pi napiliu-ra mesua' hi pogamparaa.
10For this reason, if I come, I will bring to remembrance his works which he does, babbling against us with wicked words; and not content with these, neither does he himself receive the brethren; and those who would he prevents, and casts [them] out of the assembly.
11Bale! Neo' mpenau' to dada'a. Penau' to lompe'. Tauna to mpobabehi to lompe', napo'ana' Alata'ala-ra. Tauna to mpobabehi to dada'a, ko'ia-ra mpo'incai-i Alata'ala.
11Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He that does good is of God. He that does evil has not seen God.
12Ane Demetrius-hana, hawe'ea tauna mpo'une' -i. Masipato' mpu'u-i ra'une', apa' po'ingku-na mpotuku' tudui' to makono. Kai', ki'une' wo'o-i-kaiwo, pai' nu'inca kamakono-na pe'une' -kai.
12Demetrius has witness borne to him by all, and by the truth itself; and *we* also bear witness, and thou knowest that our witness is true.
13Wori' -pidi to dota ku'uki' -koko, tapi' uma-a dota mpo'uki' hi rala sura toi.
13I had many things to write to thee, but I will not with ink and pen write to thee;
14Apa' kusarumaka uma-pi mahae hirua' -ta nculii', bona momepololitai wiwi ngkawiwi-ta-damo mpai'. (G1-15) Kalompea' rata hi iko. Wori' tabe ngkai hawe'ea bale-nu hi rehe'i. Parata-ka-kuwo tabe-ku hi hawe'ea bale-ku to hi retu butu-butu dua-na. Hudu rei.
14but I hope soon to see thee, and we will speak mouth to mouth.
15Peace [be] to thee. The friends greet thee. Greet the friends by name.
