¹Lúc ấy, cả Y-sơ-ra-ên đều nhóm đến cùng Ða-vít tại Hếp-rôn, mà nói rằng: Kìa, chúng tôi vốn là xương thịt của ông.

¹And gathered are all Israel unto David to Hebron, saying, `Lo, thy bone and thy flesh [are] we;

²Khi trước dầu Sau-lơ còn cai trị chúng tôi, thì ông đã dẫn dân Y-sơ-ra-ên vào ra; và Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của ông có phán cùng ông rằng: Ngươi sẽ chăn nuôi dân ta là Y-sơ-ra-ên, làm quan tướng chúng nó.

²even in time past, even in Saul`s being king, it is thou who art taking out and bringing in Israel, and Jehovah thy God saith to thee: Thou dost feed My people Israel, and thou art leader over My people Israel.`

³Ấy vậy, các trưởng lão Y-sơ-ra-ên đến cùng vua ở Hếp-rôn; Ða-vít bèn lập giao ước với chúng tại Hếp-rôn trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va; đoạn, chúng xức dầu cho Ða-vít làm vua trên Y-sơ-ra-ên, y như lời của Ðức Giê-hô-va đã cậy Sa-mu-ên phán ra vậy.

³And all the elders of Israel come in unto the king to Hebron, and David maketh with them a covenant in Hebron before Jehovah, and they anoint David for king over Israel, according to the word of Jehovah by the hand of Samuel.

⁴Ða-vít và cả dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đi lên thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, ấy là Giê-bu; ở đó có người Giê-bu-sít, là dân của xứ.

⁴And David goeth, and all Israel, to Jerusalem — it [is] Jebus — and there the Jebusite, the inhabitants of the land.

⁵Dân cư Giê-bu nói cùng Ða-vít rằng: Ngươi sẽ chẳng hề vào đây. Dầu vậy, Ða-vít chiếm lấy đồn lũy Si-ôn, lấy là thành Ða-vít.

⁵And the inhabitants of Jebus say to David, `Thou dost not come in hither;` and David captureth the fortress of Zion — it [is] the city of David.

⁶Ða-vít nói rằng: Hễ ai hãm đánh dân Giê-bu-sít trước hết, ắt sẽ được làm trưởng và làm tướng. Vậy, Giô-áp, con trai Xê-ru-gia, đi lên đánh trước hết, nên được làm quan trưởng.

⁶And David saith, `Whoever smiteth the Jebusite first doth become head and prince;` and go up first doth Joab son of Zeruiah and becometh head.

⁷Ða-vít ở trong đồn; vậy nên gọi là thành Ða-vít.

⁷And David dwelleth in the fortress, therefore they have called it, `City of David;`

⁸Người xây tường thành bốn phía, từ Mi-lô cho đến khắp chung quanh; còn phần thành dư lại thì Giô-áp sửa sang.

⁸and he buildeth the city round about, from Millo, and unto the circumference, and Joab restoreth the rest of the city.

⁹Ða-vít càng ngày càng cường thạnh; vì Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân ở cùng người.

⁹And David goeth, going on and becoming great, and Jehovah of Hosts [is] with him.

¹⁰Ðây là những kẻ làm tướng các lính mạnh dạn của Ða-vít, và đã phụ giúp người được ngôi nước, cùng với cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, lập người lên làm vua, y như lời Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phán về Y-sơ-ra-ên.

¹⁰And these [are] heads of the mighty ones whom David hath, who are strengthening themselves with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to cause him to reign, according to the word of Jehovah, over Israel.

¹¹Nầy là số các lính mạnh dạn của Ða-vít: Gia-sô-bê-am, con trai của Hác-mô-ni, làm đầu các tướng; ấy là người dùng giáo mình mà giết ba trăm người trong một lượt.

¹¹And this [is] an account of the mighty ones whom David hath: Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite [is] head of the thirty; he is lifting up his spear against three hundred — wounded, at one time.

¹²Sau người có Ê-lê-a-sa, con trai của Ðô-đô, ở A-hô-a, là một người trong ba người mạnh dạn.

¹²And after him [is] Eleazar son of Dodo the Ahohite, he [is] among the three mighty;

¹³Người nầy ở cùng Ða-vít nơi Pha-đa-mim, khi quân Phi-li-tin nhóm lại đặng giao chiến. Ở đó có một đám ruộng mạch nha, và dân sự đều chạy trốn khỏi mặt dân Phi-li-tin.

¹³he hath been with David in Pas-Dammim, and the Philistines have been gathered there to battle, and a portion of the field is full of barley, and the people have fled from the face of the Philistines,

¹⁴Còn họ đều đứng trong ruộng binh vực nó, và đánh hơn dân Phi-li-tin, và Ðức Giê-hô-va khiến cho họ đặng sự thắng trận rất lớn.

¹⁴and they station themselves in the midst of the portion, and deliver it, and smite the Philistines, and Jehovah saveth — a great salvation.

¹⁵Trong bọn ba mươi người làm tướng, có ba người đi xuống hang đá A-đu-lam, đến cùng Ða-vít. Còn đội quân Phi-li-tin đóng trại trong trũng Rê-pha-im.

¹⁵And three of the thirty heads go down on the rock unto David, unto the cave of Adullam, and the host of the Philistines is encamping in the valley of Rephaim,

¹⁶Lúc ấy Ða-vít ở trong đồn, và có phòng binh của dân Phi-li-tin ở Bết-lê-hem.

¹⁶and David [is] then in the fortress, and the station of the Philistines [is] then in Beth-Lehem,

¹⁷Ða-vít ước ao rằng: Than ôi! chớ gì ai ban cho ta nước uống của giếng bên cửa thành Bết-lê-hem!

¹⁷and David longeth, and saith, `Who doth give me to drink water from the well of Beth-Lehem, that [is] at the gate!`

¹⁸Vậy, ba người nầy xông ngang qua trại Phi-li-tin múc nước trong giếng bên cửa thành Bết-lê-hem, đem về cho Ða-vít uống; song người chẳng chịu uống, bèn rảy nước ấy ra trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va,

¹⁸And the three break through the camp of the Philistines, and draw water from the well of Beth-Lehem, that [is] at the gate, and bear and bring in unto David, and David hath not been willing to drink it, and poureth it out to Jehovah,

¹⁹mà nói rằng: Cầu Chúa giữ lấy tôi, đừng để tôi làm sự nầy; tôi hẳn không uống huyết của ba người nầy, đã liều thân mình đặng đem nước đến. Vì cớ ấy nên người không chịu uống. Ấy là công việc của ba người mạnh dạn đó đã làm.

¹⁹and saith, `Far be it from me, by my God, to do this; the blood of these men do I drink with their lives? for with their lives they have brought it;` and he was not willing to drink it; these [things] did the three mighty ones.

²⁰Lại có A-bi-sai, em của Giô-áp, làm đầu trong ba người mạnh dạn; người dùng giáo mình giết ba trăm người, nên nổi danh tiếng trong ba người ấy.

²⁰And Abishai brother of Joab, he hath been head of the three: and he is lifting up his spear against three hundred — wounded, and hath a name among three.

²¹Trong ba người mạnh dạn ấy, người sang trọng hơn, được làm trưởng của họ, song chẳng bằng ba người trước.

²¹Of the three by the two he is honoured, and becometh their head; and unto the [first] three he hath not come.

²²Lại có Bê-na-gia, con trai Giê-hô-gia-đa ở Cáp-xê-ên, là một người mạnh dạn đã làm nhiều công việc cả thể; người đã giết hai người Mô-áp mạnh bạo hơn hết; trong kỳ sa tuyết, người xuống một cái hố giết một con sư tử.

²²Benaiah son of Jehoiada, son of a man of valour, of great deeds, from Kabzeel: he hath smitten the two lion-like Moabites, and he hath gone down and smitten the lion in the midst of the pit, in the day of snow.

²³Ngài cũng đánh giết một người Ê-díp-tô cao năm thước; người Ê-díp-tô cầm nơi tay cây giáo lớn bằng trục máy dệt, còn Bê-na-gia xuống đón người, cầm một cây gậy, rút lấy giáo khỏi tay người Ê-díp-tô, dùng giáo nó mà giết nó.

²³And he hath smitten the man, the Egyptian — a man of measure, five by the cubit — and in the hand of the Egyptian [is] a spear like a beam of weavers, and he goeth down unto him with a rod, and taketh violently away the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slayeth him with his own spear.

²⁴Ấy là công việc Bê-na-gia, con trai Giê-hô-gia-đa, đã làm, được nổi danh tiếng trong ba người mạnh dạn.

²⁴These [things] hath Benaiah son of Jehoiada done, and hath a name among the three mighty ones.

²⁵Trong ba mươi người mạnh dạn, người được sang trọng hơn hết, song chẳng bằng ba người trước. Ða-vít nhận người vào bàn mật nghị mình.

²⁵Of the thirty, lo, he [is] honoured, and unto the [first] three he hath not come, and David setteth him over his guard.

²⁶Lại có các người mạnh dạn trong đội binh, là: A-sa-ên, em của Giô-áp; Eân-ca-nan, con trai của Ðô-đô ở Bết-lê-hem;

²⁶And the mighty ones of the forces [are] Asahel brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo of Beth-Lehem,

²⁷Sa-mốt, người Ha-rôn; Hê-lết, người Pha-ôn;

²⁷Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,

²⁸Y-ra, con trai của Y-kết ở Thê-kô-a; A-bi-ê-xe ở A-na-tốt;

²⁸Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abi-Ezer the Annethothite,

²⁹Si-bê-cai ở Hu-sa; Y-lai ở A-hô-a;

²⁹Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

³⁰Ma-ha-rai ở Nê-tô-pha; Hê-lết, con trai của Ba-a-na ở Nê-tô-pha;
