1And David is old, and satisfied with days, and causeth his son Solomon to reign over Israel,
2Người nhóm các quan trưởng Y-sơ-ra-ên, cùng những thầy tế lễ, và người Lê-vi.
2and gathereth all the heads of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites;
3Người ta lấy số người Lê-vi từ ba mươi tuổi trở lên, và số của họ, cứ đếm từng người, được ba vạn tám ngàn.
3and the Levites are numbered from a son of thirty years and upward, and their number, by their polls, is of mighty men thirty and eight thousand.
4Trong số các người ấy, có hai vạn bốn ngàn người được cắt cai quản công việc của đền Ðức Giê-hô-va; sáu ngàn người đều làm quan đốc lý và quan xét;
4Of these to preside over the work of the house of Jehovah [are] twenty and four thousand, and officers and judges six thousand,
5còn bốn ngàn người đều làm kẻ canh cửa; và bốn ngàn người ngợi khen Ðức Giê-hô-va bằng nhạc khí của Ða-vít đã làm đặng ngợi khen.
5and four thousand gatekeepers, and four thousand giving praise to Jehovah, `with instruments that I made for praising,` [saith David.]
6Ða-vít phân họ từng ban thứ theo ba con trai Lê-vi, là Ghẹt-sôn, Kê-hát, và Mê-ra-ri.
6And David distributeth them into courses: Of the sons of Levi: of Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7Về con cháu Ghẹt-sôn có La-ê-đan và Si-mê -i.
7Of the Gershonite: Laadan and Shimei.
8Con trai của La-ê-đan là Giê-hi-ên làm trưởng, Xê-tham, và Giô-ên, ba người.
8Sons of Laadan: the head [is] Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.
9Con trai của Si-mê -i là Sê-lô-mít, Ha-xi-ên, và Ha-ran, ba người. Ðó là các trưởng của tông tộc La-ê-đan.
9Sons of Shimei [are] Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three; these [are] heads of the fathers of Laadan.
10Con trai của Si-mê -i là Gia-hát, Xi-na, Giê-úc, và Bê-ri-a. Ấy là bốn con trai của Si-mê -i.
10And sons of Shimei [are] Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah; these [are] sons of Shimei, four.
11Gia-hát làm trưởng, còn Xi-xa là con thứ; nhưng Giê-úc và Bê-ri-a không có con cháu nhiều; nên khi lấy số thì kể chúng như một nhà.
11And Jahath is the head, and Zizah the second, and Jeush and Beriah have not multiplied sons, and they become the house of a father by one numbering.
12Con trai Kê-hát là Am-ram, Dít-sê-ha, Hếp-rôn, U-xi-ên, bốn người.
12Sons of Kohath [are] Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
13Con trai của Am-ram là A-rôn và Môi-se; A-rôn và con cháu người được phân biệt ra, để biệt riêng ra các vật chí thánh, và đời đời xông hương, hầu việc trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, cùng nhân danh Ngài mà chúc phước cho.
13Sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron is separated for his sanctifying the holy of holies, he and his sons — unto the age, to make perfume before Jehovah, to serve Him, and to bless in His name — unto the age.
14Còn về Môi-se, người của Ðức Chúa Trời, các con trai người đều được kể vào chi phái Lê-vi.
14As to Moses, the man of God, his sons are called after the tribe of Levi.
15Con trai của Môi-se là Ghẹt-sôn và Ê-li-ê-xe.
15Sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.
16Con trai của Ghẹt-sôn là Sê-bu-ên làm trưởng.
16Sons of Gershom: Shebuel the head.
17Con trai của Ê-li-ê-xe là Rê-ha-bia làm trưởng; Ê-li-ê-xe không có con trai nào khác; nhưng con trai của Rê-ha-bia nhiều lắm.
17And sons of Eliezer are Rehabiah the head, and Eliezer had no other sons, and the sons of Rehabiah have multiplied exceedingly.
18Con trai của Dít-sê-ha là Sê-lô-mít làm trưởng.
18Sons of Izhar: Shelomith the head.
19Con trai của Hếp-rôn là Giê-ri-gia làm trưởng; A-ma-ria thứ nhì; Gia-ha-xi-ên thứ ba; và Giê-ca-mê-am thứ tư.
19Sons of Hebron: Jeriah the head, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20Con trai của U-xi-ên là Mi-ca làm trưởng; và Di-si-gia con thứ.
20Sons of Uzziel: Micah the head, and Ishshiah, the second.
21Con trai của Mê-ra-ri là Mác-li và Mu-si. Con trai của Mác-li là Ê-lê-a-sa và Kích.
21Sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi; sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.

22And Eleazar dieth, and he had no sons, but daughters, and sons of Kish their brethren take them.
23Con trai của Mu-si là Mác-li, Ê-đe và Giê-rê-mốt, ba người.
23Sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth, three.
24Ðó là con cháu của Lê-vi theo tông tộc của họ, tức là trưởng tộc của những người được cai số từng danh từng người, từ hai mươi tuổi sắp lên, và hầu việc trong đền của Ðức Giê-hô-va.
24These [are] sons of Levi, by the house of their fathers, heads of the fathers, by their appointments, in the number of names, by their polls, doing the work for the service of the house of Jehovah, from a son of twenty years and upward,
25Vì Ða-vít nói rằng: Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên có ban sự bình an cho dân sự Ngài, và Ngài ngự tại Giê-ru-sa-lem đời đời;
25for David said, `Jehovah, God of Israel, hath given rest to His people, and He doth tabernacle in Jerusalem unto the age;`
26người Lê-vi cũng sẽ chẳng còn cần khiêng vác đền tạm hay là các khí dụng về công việc đền tạm nữa.
26and also of the Levites, `None [are] to bear the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service;`
27Vì theo lời trối của Ða-vít, người ta tu bộ dân Lê-vi, từ hai mươi tuổi sấp lên.
27for by the last words of David they [took] the number of the sons of Levi from a son of twenty years and upward,
28Chức của chúng là ở bên con cháu A-rôn, đặng làm công việc của đền Ðức Giê-hô-va, canh giữ hành lang và các phòng, giữ tinh sạch các vật thánh, và coi làm công việc của đền Ðức Chúa Trời:
28for their station [is] at the side of the sons of Aaron, for the service of the house of Jehovah, over the courts, and over the chambers, and over the cleansing of every holy thing, and the work of the service of the house of God,
29lại lo về bánh trần thiết, về bột mịn dùng làm của lễ chay, về bánh tráng không men, về đồ nướng trên vỉ, về đồ trộn với dầu, và về các đồ để lường và để đo;
29and for the bread of the arrangement, and for fine flour for present, and for the thin unleavened cakes, and for [the work of] the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all [liquid] measure and [solid] measure;
30mỗi buổi sớm và buổi chiều, họ phải đứng tại đó cảm tạ và ngợi khen Ðức Giê-hô-va;
30and to stand, morning by morning, to give thanks, and to give praise to Jehovah, and so at evening;
31còn mỗi ngày sa-bát, ngày mồng một, và ngày lễ trọng thể, thì phải giúp dâng luôn luôn tại trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va những của lễ thiêu thường dâng cho Ðức Giê-hô-va theo lệ đã định trong luật về của lễ ấy;
31and for all the burnt-offerings — burnt-offerings to Jehovah for sabbaths, for new moons, and for appointed seasons, by number, according to the ordinance upon them continually, before Jehovah.
32chúng cũng lo coi sóc hội mạc và nơi thánh, cùng giúp đỡ con cháu A-rôn, là anh em mình, đặng hầu việc trong đền của Ðức Giê-hô-va.
32And they have kept the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the sons of Aaron, their brethren, for the service of the house of Jehovah.
