¹Năm thứ hai mươi bảy đời Giê-rô-bô-am, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, thì A-xa-ria, con trai A-ma-xia, vua Giu-đa, lên làm vua.

¹In the twenty and seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned hath Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah,

²Người được mười sáu tuổi khi lên ngôi, và cai trị năm mươi hai năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ người tên là Giê-cô-lia, quê ở Giê-ru-sa-lem.

²a son of sixteen years was he in his reigning, and fifty and two years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Jecholiah of Jerusalem,

³Người làm điều thiện trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, cứ theo mọi điều của A-ma-xia, cha người đã làm.

³and he doth that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that Amaziah his father did,

⁴Thế mà người không dỡ các nơi cao đi; dân sự cứ cúng tế và xông hương trên các nơi cao.

⁴only, the high places have not turned aside — yet are the people sacrificing and making perfume in high places.

⁵Ðức Giê-hô-va giáng họa cho vua, khiến bị bịnh phung cho đến ngày người chết; người phải rút ở trong nhà riêng. Giô-tham, con trai vua, cai quản đền vua và xét đoán dân sự của xứ.

⁵And Jehovah smiteth the king, and he is a leper unto the day of his death, and he dwelleth in a separate house, and Jotham son of the king [is] over the house, judging the people of the land.

⁷And Azariah lieth with his fathers, and they bury him with his fathers, in the city of David, and reign doth Jotham his son in his stead.

⁸Năm thứ ba mươi tám đời A-xa-ria, vua Giu-đa, Xa-cha-ri, con trai Giê-rô-bô-am, lên làm vua Y-sơ-ra-ên tại Sa-ma-ri; người cai trị sáu tháng.

⁸In the thirty and eighth year of Azariah king of Judah reigned hath Zechariah son of Jeroboam over Israel, in Samaria, six months,

⁹Người làm điều ác trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, y như các tổ phụ mình đã làm; người không từ bỏ tội lỗi của Giê-rô-bô-am, con trai Nê-bát, là tội đã gây cho Y-sơ-ra-ên phạm tội.

⁹and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, as did his fathers, he hath not turned aside from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat that he caused Israel to sin.

¹⁰Vả, Sa-lum, con trai Gia-be, dấy nghịch cùng người, đánh giết người tại trước mặt dân sự; đoạn làm vua thế cho người.

¹⁰And Shallum son of Jabesh conspireth against him, and smiteth him before the people, and putteth him to death, and reigneth in his stead.

¹²Như vậy là ứng nghiệm lời của Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cho Giê-hu rằng: Dòng dõi ngươi sẽ ngồi trên ngôi Y-sơ-ra-ên cho đến đời thứ tư. Thật vậy, ấy là điều đã xảy đến.

¹²It [is] the word of Jehovah that He spake unto Jehu, saying, `Sons of the fourth [generation] do sit for thee on the throne of Israel;` and it is so.

¹³Năm thứ ba mươi chín đời Ô-xia, vua Giu-đa, Sa-lum, con trai Gia-be, lên làm vua, cai trị một tháng tại Sa-ma-ri.

¹³Shallum son of Jabesh hath reigned in the thirty and ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, and he reigneth a month of days in Samaria;

¹⁴Mê-na-hem, con trai Ga-đi, ở Tiệt sa đi lên Sa-ma-ri, và giết người đi. Ðoạn, Mê-ha-hem lên làm vua thế cho.

¹⁴and go up doth Menahem son of Gadi from Tirzah and cometh in to Samaria, and smiteth Shallum son of Jabesh in Samaria, and putteth him to death, and reigneth in his stead.

¹⁶Bấy giờ, Mê-na-hem đi khỏi Tiệt-sa, hãm đánh Típ-sắc, cả dân sự ở trong, và khắp địa hạt chung quanh, bởi vì thành ấy không khứng mở cửa cho; nên người đánh nó, và mổ bụng hết thảy người đàn bà có nghén ở tại đó.

¹⁶Then doth Menahem smite Tiphsah, and all who [are] in it, and its borders from Tirzah, for it opened not [to him], and he smiteth [it], all its pregnant women he hath ripped up.

¹⁷Năm thứ ba mươi chín đời A-xa-ria, vua Giu-đa, thì Mê-na-hem, con trai Ga-đi, lên làm vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, và cai trị mười năm tại Sa-ma-ri.

¹⁷In the thirty and ninth year of Azariah king of Judah reigned hath Menahem son of Gadi over Israel — ten years in Samaria.

¹⁸Người làm điều ác trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va; trọn đời chẳng hề lìa khỏi các tội lỗi của Giê-rô-bô-am, con trai Nê-bát, là tội đã gây cho Y-sơ-ra-ên phạm tội.

¹⁸And he doth the evil in the eyes of Jehovah, he hath turned not aside from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat that he caused Israel to sin, all his days.

¹⁹Phun, vua A-si-ri, loán đến trong xứ; Mê-na-hem bèn nộp cho người một ngàn ta lâng bạc, để người giúp đỡ làm cho nước mình đặng vững vàng trong tay người.

¹⁹Pul king of Asshur hath come against the land, and Menahem giveth to Pul a thousand talents of silver, for his hand being with him to strengthen the kingdom in his hand.

²⁰Mê-na-hem thâu lấy tiền bạc Ḁ¥y nơi dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, tức nơi nhữn người có tài sản nhiều, cứ mỗi người năm mươi siếc lơ bạc, đặng nộp cho vua A-si-ri. Ðoạn, vua A-si-ri trở về, chẳng ở lâu tại xứ.

²⁰And Menahem bringeth out the silver [from] Israel, [from] all the mighty men of wealth, to give to the king of Asshur, fifty shekels of silver for each one, and the king of Asshur turneth back and hath not stayed there in the land.

²³In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah hath Pekahiah son of Menahem reigned over Israel, in Samaria — two years,

²⁴Người làm điều ác trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, không từ bỏ tội lỗi của Giê-rô-bô-am, con trai Nê-bát, là tội đã gây cho Y-sơ-ra-ên phạm tội.

²⁴and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, he hath not turned aside from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat that he caused Israel to sin.

²⁵Phê-ca, con trai Rê-ma-lia, quan tổng binh người, phản nghịch người, và đánh người tại Sa-ma-ri, trong thành lũy của đền vua, luôn với Aït-gốp và A-ri-ê. Người có năm mươi người Ga-la-át theo mình. Vậy người giết Phê-ca-hia và cai trị thế cho.

²⁵And Pekah son of Remaliah, his captain, doth conspire against him, and smiteth him in Samaria, in the high place of the house of the king with Argob and Arieh, and with him fifty men of the sons of the Gileadites, and he putteth him to death, and reigneth in his stead.

²⁷In the fifty and second year of Azariah king of Judah, reigned hath Pekah son of Remaliah over Israel, in Samaria — twenty years,

²⁸Người làm điều ác trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, không từ bỏ tội lỗi của Giê-rô-bô-am, con trai Nê-bát, là tội đã gây cho Y-sơ-ra-ên phạm tội.

²⁸and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, he hath not turned aside from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin.

²⁹Trong đời Phê-ca, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, Tiếc-la-Phi-lê-se, vua A-si-ri, loán đến chiếm lấy Y-giôn, A-bên-Bết-Ma-ca, Gia-nô-ác, Kê-đe, Hát-so, miền Ga-la-át, miền Ga-li-lê, và cả địa phận Nép-ta-li; đoạn đem dân sự các sứ ấy sang A-si-ri.

²⁹In the days of Pekah king of Israel hath Tiglath-Pileser king of Asshur come, and taketh Ijon, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and removeth them to Asshur.

³⁰Ô-sê, con trai Ê-la, mưu phản Phê-ca, con trai Rê-ma-lia, và đánh giết người, rồi lên làm vua thế cho, nhằm năm thứ hai mươi đời Giô-tham, con trai Ô-xia.

³⁰And make a conspiracy doth Hoshea son of Elah against Pekah son of Remaliah, and smiteth him, and putteth him to death, and reigneth in his stead, in the twentieth year of Jotham son of Uzziah.

³²In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel reigned hath Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah.

³³Người được hai mươi lăm tuổi khi tức vị, cai trị mười sáu năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. mẹ người tên là Giê-ru-sa, con gái Xa-đốc.

³³A son of twenty and five years was he in his reigning, and sixteen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Jerusha daughter of Zadok,

³⁴Người làm điều thiện trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, cứ theo trọn mọi điều Ô-xia, cha người đã làm.

³⁴and he doth that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that Uzziah his father did he hath done.

³⁵Dầu vậy, người không dỡ các nơi cao; dân sự cứ cúng tế và xông hương trên các nơi cao đó. Ấy là Giô-tham xây cất cửa thượng của đền thờ Ðức Giê-hô-va.

³⁵Only, the high places have not turned aside — yet are the people sacrificing and making perfume in high places; he hath built the high gate of the house of Jehovah.

³⁷Trong lúc đó, Ðức Giê-hô-va khởi khiến Rê-xin, vua Sy-ri, và Phê-ca, con trai Rê-ma-lia, đến hãm đánh Giu-đa.

³⁷In those days hath Jehovah begun to send against Judah Rezin king of Amram and Pekah son of Remaliah.

³⁸Giô-tham an giấc cùng các tổ phụ người, được chôn bên họ, tại thành Ða-vít, tổ tiên người. A-cha, con trai người, lên làm vua thế cho người.

³⁸And Jotham lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers, in the city of David his father, and reign doth Ahaz his son in his stead.
