¹Ðức Giê-hô-va lại phán cùng Môi-se rằng:

¹And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

²Hãy báo thù dân Ma-đi-an cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên; rồi ngươi sẽ được về cùng tổ phụ.

²`Execute the vengeance of the sons of Israel against the Midianites — afterwards thou art gathered unto thy people.`

³Vậy, Môi-se truyền cho dân sự rằng: Trong các ngươi hãy sắm sửa binh khí mà ra trận hãm đánh dân Ma-đi-an đặng báo thù dân đó cho Ðức Giê-hô-va.

³And Moses speaketh unto the people, saying, `Be ye armed some of you for the host, and they are against Midian, to put the vengeance of Jehovah on Midian;

⁴Về mỗi chi phái Y-sơ-ra-ên, các ngươi phải sai một ngàn lính ra trận.

⁴a thousand for a tribe — a thousand for a tribe, to all the tribes of Israel — ye do send to the host.`

⁵Vậy, trong dân Y-sơ-ra-ên người ta cứ mỗi chi phái chọn một ngàn lính, là mười hai ngàn người sắm sửa binh khí đặng ra trận.

⁵And there are given out of the thousands of Israel a thousand for a tribe, twelve thousand armed ones of the host;

⁶Môi-se sai mười hai ngàn người đó ra trận, tức là sai một ngàn người về mỗi chi phái, với Phi-nê-a, con trai của Ê-lê-a-sa, thầy tế lễ, đem đi theo mình, những khí giới thánh cùng kèn có tiếng vang.

⁶and Moses sendeth them, a thousand for a tribe, to the host, them and Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, to the host; and the holy vessels, and the trumpets of the shouting, in his hand.

⁷Vậy, chúng giao chiến cùng dân Ma-đi-an, y như Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn Môi-se, và giết hết thảy nam đinh.

⁷And they war against Midian, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses, and slay every male;

⁸Trong các người bị giết chúng cũng giết năm vua Ma-đi-an, là: Ê-vi, Rê-kem, Xu-rơ, Hu-rơ, và Rê-ba; cũng lấy gươm giết Ba-la-am, con trai của Bê-ô.

⁸and the kings of Midian they have slain, besides their pierced ones, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian; and Balaam son of Beor, they have slain with the sword.

⁹Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên bắt đàn bà và con nít Ma-đi-an dẫn theo, cướp hết thảy súc vật, bầy chiên và của cải họ,

⁹And the sons of Israel take captive the women of Midian, and their infants; and all their cattle, and all their substance, and all their wealth they have plundered;

¹⁰đốt hết những thành, nhà ở, và hương thôn chúng nó,

¹⁰and all their cities, with their habitations, and all their towers, they have burnt with fire.

¹¹cũng lấy đem theo hết thảy của đoạt được, bất kỳ người hay vật.

¹¹And they take all the spoil, and all the prey, among man and among beast;

¹²Chúng dẫn những kẻ bị bắt và những của đoạt được đến cho Môi-se, cho Ê-lê-a-sa, thầy tế lễ, và cho hội dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đương đóng trại tại đồng bằng Mô-áp, gần sông Giô-đanh, đối ngang Giê-ri-cô.

¹²and they bring in, unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the company of the sons of Israel, the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto the camp, unto the plains of Moab, which [are] by Jordan, [near] Jericho.

¹³Bấy giờ, Môi-se, Ê-lê-a-sa, thầy tế lễ, và hết thảy hội trưởng đi ra đón rước chúng binh ngoài trại quân.

¹³And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the company, go out to meet them, unto the outside of the camp,

¹⁴Môi-se nổi giận cùng các quân trưởng, tức là quan tướng một ngàn quân và quan tướng một trăm quân đi đánh giặc nầy trở về.

¹⁴and Moses is wroth against the inspectors of the force, chiefs of the thousands, and chiefs of the hundreds, who are coming in from the host of the battle.

¹⁵Môi-se nói cùng họ rằng: Các ngươi để hết thảy người nữ còn sống sao?

¹⁵And Moses saith unto them, `Have ye kept alive every female?

¹⁶Kìa, ấy là chúng nó theo mưu kế của Ba-la-am mà dụ dỗ dân Y-sơ-ra-ên cùng thờ Phê-ô, và phạm một tội trọng cùng Ðức Giê-hô-va; và tội đó xui cho hội chúng của Ðức Giê-hô-va bị tai vạ.

¹⁶lo, they — they have been to the sons of Israel, through the word of Balaam, to cause a trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and the plague is in the company of Jehovah.

¹⁷Vậy bây giờ, hãy giết hết thảy nam đinh trong bọn con trẻ, và giết người nữ nào đã kết bạn cùng một người nam;

¹⁷`And now, slay ye every male among the infants, yea, every woman known of man by the lying of a male ye have slain;

¹⁸nhưng hãy để sống cho các ngươi hết thảy con gái chưa hề kết bạn cùng người nam.

¹⁸and all the infants among the women, who have not known the lying of a male, ye have kept alive for yourselves.

¹⁹Còn về phần các ngươi, hãy đóng trại ngoài trại quân trong bảy ngày. Ai có giết một người và có đụng đến một xác chết, thì ai đó cùng kẻ bị bắt, phải dọn cho mình được sạch ngày thứ ba và ngày thứ bảy.

¹⁹`And ye, encamp ye at the outside of the camp seven days — any who hath slain a person, and any who hath come against a pierced one, ye cleanse yourselves on the third day, and on the seventh day — ye and your captives;

²⁰Cũng phải làm cho sạch hết thảy áo xống, mọi vật bằng da, mọi vật bằng lông dê, và mọi đồ đạc bằng cây.

²⁰and every garment, and every skin vessel, and every work of goats` [hair], and every wooden vessel, ye yourselves cleanse.`

²¹Ê-lê-a-sa, thầy tế lễ, nói cùng những lính trận đi về, mà rằng: Nầy là điều luật pháp dạy mà Ðức Giê-hô-va đã truyền cho Môi-se:

²¹And Eleazar the priest saith unto the men of the host who go in to battle, `This [is] the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses:

²²vàng, bạc, đồng, sắt, thiếc, chì,

²²only, the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

²³tức là mọi vật đưa vào lửa được, thì các ngươi phải đưa ngang qua lửa đặng luyện nó; nhưng người ta cũng phải dùng nước tẩy uế mà làm cho nó được sạch nữa. Còn mọi vật chi không đưa qua lửa được, thì phải ngâm nó trong nước.

²³every thing which may go into fire, ye cause to pass over through fire, and it hath been clean; only, with the water of separation it is cleansed, and all that may not go into fire, ye cause to pass over through water;

²⁴Ngày thứ bảy các ngươi phải giặt áo xống mình, thì sẽ được sạch; đoạn mới được vào trại quân.

²⁴and ye have washed your garments on the seventh day, and have been clean, and afterwards ye come in unto the camp.`

²⁵Ðức Giê-hô-va lại phán cùng Môi-se rằng:

²⁵And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

²⁶Ngươi, Ê-lê-a-sa, thầy tế lễ, và các quan trưởng của những tông tộc, hãy dựng sổ về của giặc mà người ta đã đoạt được, nào người, nào vật,

²⁶`Take up the sum of the prey of the captives, among man and among beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers of the company;

²⁷rồi chia của đó cho các người đã ra trận và cho cả hội chúng.

²⁷and thou hast halved the prey between those handling the battle who go out to the host and all the company;

²⁸Trong phần thuộc về quân binh đã ra trận, hoặc người, hoặc bò, hoặc lừa hay chiên, ngươi phải cứ thâu một phần trong năm trăm mà đóng thuế cho Ðức Giê-hô-va,

²⁸and thou hast raised a tribute to Jehovah from the men of war, who go out to the host, one body out of five hundred, of man, and of the herd, and of the asses, and of the flock;

²⁹tức phải thâu thuế đó trong phân nửa thuộc về quân binh và giao cho Ê-lê-a-sa, thầy tế lễ, làm lễ vật dâng cho Ðức Giê-hô-va.

²⁹from their half ye do take, and thou hast given to Eleazar the priest — the heave-offering of Jehovah.

³⁰Còn trong phân nửa kia thuộc về dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, hoặc người, hoặc bò, hoặc lừa hay chiên, tức các súc vật, ngươi phải cứ mỗi năm chục mà để riêng ra một, và giao cho người Lê-vi có chức phận coi sóc đền tạm của Ðức Giê-hô-va.

³⁰`And from the sons of Israel`s half thou dost take one possession out of fifty, of man, of the herd, of the asses, and of the flock, of all the cattle, and thou hast given them to the Levites keeping the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah.`

³¹Môi-se và Ê-lê-a-sa, thầy tế lễ, làm y như Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn Môi-se.

³¹And Moses doth — Eleazar the priest also — as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

³²Vả, của giặc còn lại mà quân binh cướp lấy được, là sáu trăm bảy mươi lăm ngàn con chiên cái;

³²And the prey, the residue of the spoil which the people of the host have spoiled, is of the flock six hundred thousand, and seventy thousand, and five thousand;

³³bảy mươi hai ngàn con bò,

³³and of the herd two and seventy thousand;

³⁴sáu mươi mốt ngàn con lừa đực.

³⁴and of asses one and sixty thousand;

³⁵Người nữ chưa kết bạn cùng người nam nào, hết thảy được ba mươi hai ngàn người.

³⁵and of human beings — of the women who have not known the lying of a male — all the persons [are] two and thirty thousand.

³⁶Phân nửa thuộc về kẻ đã đi trận, là ba trăm ba mươi bảy ngàn năm trăm con chiên cái,

³⁶And the half — the portion of those who go out into the host — the number of the flock is three hundred thousand, and thirty thousand, and seven thousand and five hundred.

³⁷đóng thuế cho Ðức Giê-hô-va là sáu trăm bảy mươi lăm con;

³⁷And the tribute to Jehovah of the sheep is six hundred five and seventy;

³⁸ba mươi sáu ngàn con bò, đóng thuế cho Ðức Giê-hô-va là bảy mươi hai con;

³⁸and the herd [is] six and thirty thousand, and their tribute to Jehovah [is] two and seventy;

³⁹ba ngàn năm trăm con lừa đực, và đóng thuế cho Ðức Giê-hô-va sáu mươi mốt con;

³⁹and the asses [are] thirty thousand and five hundred, and their tribute to Jehovah [is] one and sixty;

⁴⁰mười sáu ngàn người, và đóng thuế cho Ðức Giê-hô-va là ba mươi hai người.

⁴⁰and the human beings [are] sixteen thousand, and their tribute to Jehovah [is] two and thirty persons.

⁴¹Môi-se giao cho Ê-lê-a-sa, thầy tế lễ của thuế làm lễ vật dâng cho Ðức Giê-hô-va, y như Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn Môi-se.

⁴¹And Moses giveth the tribute — Jehovah`s heave-offering — to Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

⁴²Phân nửa kia thuộc về dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, tức là phân nửa mà Môi-se chia ra với phân nửa của quân binh đã đi trận,

⁴²And of the sons of Israel`s half, which Moses halved from the men who war —

⁴³phân nửa nầy thuộc về hội chúng, số là ba trăm ba mươi bảy ngàn năm trăm con chiên cái,

⁴³and the company`s half is, of the flock three hundred thousand, and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred;

⁴⁴ba mươi sáu ngàn con bò,

⁴⁴and of the herd six and thirty thousand;

⁴⁵ba mươi ngàn năm trăm con lừa,

⁴⁵and of asses thirty thousand and five hundred;

⁴⁶và mười sáu ngàn người.

⁴⁶and of human beings sixteen thousand —

⁴⁷Trong phân nửa nầy thuộc về dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, Môi-se cứ mỗi năm chục thì để riêng ra một, bất luận người hay vật, và giao cho người Lê-vi có chức phận coi sóc đền tạm của Ðức Giê-hô-va, y như Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn mình.

⁴⁷Moses taketh from the sons of Israel`s half the one possession from the fifty, of man and of beast, and giveth them to the Levites keeping the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

⁴⁸Những quan trưởng, tức là quan tướng một ngàn quân và quan tướng một trăm quân, đến gần Môi-se

⁴⁸And the inspectors whom the thousands of the host hath, (heads of the thousands and heads of the hundreds), draw near unto Moses,

⁴⁹mà rằng: Những kẻ tôi tớ ông đã dựng sổ chiến sĩ, là người ở dưới quyền chúng tôi, và không thiếu một tên.

⁴⁹and they say unto Moses, `Thy servants have taken up the sum of the men of war who [are] with us, and not a man of us hath been missed;

⁵⁰Mỗi người trong chúng tôi có đem đến đồ bằng vàng mình đã được, hoặc dây chuyền, hoặc vòng, hoặc cà-rá, hoặc hoa tai, hoặc kiềng, làm lễ vật dâng cho Ðức Giê-hô-va đặng chuộc tội cho mình trước mặt Ngài.

⁵⁰and we bring near Jehovah`s offering, each that which he hath found, vessels of gold — chain, and bracelet, seal-ring, [ear]-ring, and bead — to make atonement for ourselves before Jehovah.`

⁵¹Môi-se và Ê-lê-a-sa, thầy tế lễ, bèn nhận lãnh vàng, và hết thảy đồ trang sức làm công kỹ.

⁵¹And Moses receiveth — Eleazar the priest also — the gold from them, every made vessel,

⁵²Hết thảy vàng về lễ vật mà những quan tướng một ngàn quân và quan tướng một trăm quân dâng cho Ðức Giê-hô-va, cộng là mười sáu ngàn bảy trăm năm mươi siếc-lơ.

⁵²and all the gold of the heave-offering which they have lifted up to Jehovah is sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from heads of the thousands, and from heads of the hundreds;

⁵³Vả, mỗi người trong quân binh đều có cướp lấy vật cho mình.

⁵³(the men of the host have spoiled each for himself);

⁵⁴Vậy, Môi-se và Ê-lê-a-sa, thầy tế lễ, nhận lãnh vàng của quan tướng ngàn quân và trăm quân, rồi đem vào hội mạc làm kỷ niệm về dân Y-sơ-ra-ên trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va.

⁵⁴and Moses taketh — Eleazar the priest also — the gold from the heads of the thousands and of the hundreds, and they bring it in unto the tent of meeting — a memorial for the sons of Israel before Jehovah.
