¹Ai ưa điều sửa phạt ưa sự tri thức; Nhưng kẻ ghét sự quở trách là ngây dại.

¹Whoso is loving instruction, is loving knowledge, And whoso is hating reproof [is] brutish.

²Người lành được ơn của Ðức Giê-hô-va; Nhưng Ðức Chúa Trời định tội cho người toan mưu ác.

²The good bringeth forth favour from Jehovah, And the man of wicked devices He condemneth.

³Loài người chẳng phải vì hung ác mà được lập vững bền; Song rễ người công bình chẳng bị lay động.

³A man is not established by wickedness, And the root of the righteous is not moved.

⁴Người đờn bà nhơn đức là mão triều thiên cho chồng nàng; Còn vợ làm xấu hổ khác nào sự mục trong xương cốt người.

⁴A virtuous woman [is] a crown to her husband, And as rottenness in his bones [is] one causing shame.

⁵Tư tưởng người nghĩa chỉ là công bình; Song mưu luận kẻ ác đều là giả dối.

⁵The thoughts of the righteous [are] justice, The counsels of the wicked — deceit.

⁶Các lời kẻ hung ác rình rập làm đổ huyết ra; Song miệng người ngay thẳng giải cứu người khỏi.

⁶The words of the wicked [are]: `Lay wait for blood,` And the mouth of the upright delivereth them.

⁷Ðánh đổ kẻ hung ác thì họ chẳng còn nữa; Nhưng nhà người công bình còn đứng vững.

⁷Overthrow the wicked, and they are not, And the house of the righteous standeth.

⁸Người ta được khen ngợi tùy theo sự khôn sáng mình; Còn kẻ có lòng tà vạy sẽ bị khinh dể.

⁸According to his wisdom is a man praised, And the perverted of heart becometh despised.

⁹Thà một người ở bực hèn hạ và có tôi tớ, Còn hơn kẻ tự tôn mà lại thiếu ăn.

⁹Better [is] the lightly esteemed who hath a servant, Than the self-honoured who lacketh bread.

¹⁰Người công bình coi sóc sự sống của súc vật mình; Còn lòng thương xót của kẻ dữ khác nào sự hung bạo.

¹⁰The righteous knoweth the life of his beast, And the mercies of the wicked [are] cruel.

¹¹Ai cày đất mình sẽ được vật thực dư dật; Còn ai theo kẻ biếng nhác thiếu trí hiểu.

¹¹Whoso is tilling the ground is satisfied [with] bread, And whoso is pursuing vanities is lacking heart,

¹²Kẻ hung ác tham lam của hoạch tài; Song rễ của người công bình sanh bông trái.

¹²The wicked hath desired the net of evil doers, And the root of the righteous giveth.

¹³Trong sự vi phạm của môi miệng có một cái bẫy tàn hại; Nhưng người công bình được thoát khỏi sự hoạn nạn.

¹³In transgression of the lips [is] the snare of the wicked, And the righteous goeth out from distress.

¹⁴Nhờ bông trái của môi miệng mình, người sẽ được no đầy phước; Và người ta sẽ được báo lại tùy theo việc tay mình đã làm.

¹⁴From the fruit of the mouth [is] one satisfied [with] good, And the deed of man`s hands returneth to him.

¹⁵Ðường lối của kẻ ngu muội vốn ngay thẳng theo mắt nó; Còn người khôn ngoan nghe lời khuyên dạy.

¹⁵The way of a fool [is] right in his own eyes, And whoso is hearkening to counsel [is] wise.

¹⁶Sự giận dữ của kẻ ngu muội liền lộ ra tức thì; Còn người khôn khéo che lấp sỉ nhục mình.

¹⁶The fool — in a day is his anger known, And the prudent is covering shame.

¹⁷Kẻ nào nói thật, rao truyền sự công bình; Song kẻ làm chứng gian, phô sự giả dối.

¹⁷Whoso uttereth faithfulness declareth righteousness, And a false witness — deceit.

¹⁸Lời vô độ đâm xoi khác nào gươm; Nhưng lưỡi người khôn ngoan vốn là thuốc hay.

¹⁸A rash speaker is like piercings of a sword, And the tongue of the wise is healing.

¹⁹Môi chân thật được bền đỗ đời đời; Song lưỡi giả dối chỉ còn một lúc mà thôi.

¹⁹The lip of truth is established for ever, And for a moment — a tongue of falsehood.

²⁰Sự phỉnh gạt ở trong lòng kẻ toan mưu hại; Nhưng sự vui vẻ thuộc về người khuyên lơn sự hòa bình.

²⁰Deceit [is] in the heart of those devising evil, And to those counselling peace [is] joy.

²¹Chẳng một tai họa nào xảy đến cho người công bình; Song kẻ hung ác sẽ bị đầy đau đớn.

²¹No iniquity is desired by the righteous, And the wicked have been full of evil.

²²Môi miệng nói dối giả lấy làm gớm ghiếc cho Ðức Giê-hô-va; Song ai ăn ở trung thành được đẹp lòng Ngài.

²²An abomination to Jehovah [are] lying lips, And stedfast doers [are] his delight.

²³Người khôn khéo giấu điều mình biết; Còn lòng kẻ ngu muội xưng ra sự điên dại mình.

²³A prudent man is concealing knowledge, And the heart of fools proclaimeth folly.

²⁴Tay người siêng năng sẽ cai trị; Nhưng tay kẻ biếng nhác phải phục dịch.

²⁴The hand of the diligent ruleth, And slothfulness becometh tributary.

²⁵Sự buồn rầu ở nơi lòng người làm cho nao sờn; Nhưng một lời lành khiến lòng vui vẻ.

²⁵Sorrow in the heart of a man boweth down, And a good word maketh him glad.

²⁶Người công bình dẫn đường cho kẻ lân cận mình; Còn các nẻo kẻ dữ làm sai lạc chúng.

²⁶The righteous searcheth his companion, And the way of the wicked causeth them to err.

²⁷Kẻ biếng nhác không chiên nướng thịt mình đã săn; Song người siêng năng được tài vật quí báu của loài người.

²⁷The slothful roasteth not his hunting, And the wealth of a diligent man is precious.

²⁸Sự sống ở nơi đường công bình; Trên lối nó không có sự chết.

²⁸In the path of righteousness [is] life, And in the way of [that] path [is] no death!
