1Hãy ngợi khen Ðức Giê-hô-va, vì Ngài là thiện; Sự nhơn từ Ngài còn đến đời đời.
1`Give ye thanks to Jehovah, For good, for to the age [is] His kindness:`
2Các người Ðức Giê-hô-va đã chuộc Khỏi tay kẻ hà hiếp hãy nói đều đó,
2Let the redeemed of Jehovah say, Whom He redeemed from the hand of an adversary.
3Tức là các người Ngài đã hiệp lại từ các xứ; Từ phương đông, phương tây, phương bắc, phương nam.
3And from the lands hath gathered them, From east and from west, From north, and from the sea.
4Họ lưu lạc nơi đồng vắng, trong con đường hiu quạnh, Không tìm thành ở được;
4They wandered in a wilderness, in a desert by the way, A city of habitation they have not found.
5Họ bị đói khát, Linh hồn bèn nao sờn trong mình họ.
5Hungry — yea — thirsty, Their soul in them becometh feeble,
6Bấy giờ trong cơn gian truân họ kêu cầu Ðức Giê-hô-va; Ngài bèn giải cứu họ khỏi đều gian nan,
6And they cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distress He delivereth them,
7Dẫn họ theo đường ngay thẳng, Ðặng đi đến một thành ở được.
7And causeth them to tread in a right way, To go unto a city of habitation.
8Nguyện người ta ngợi khen Ðức Giê-hô-va vì sự nhơn từ Ngài, Và vì các công việc lạ lùng Ngài làm cho con loài người!
8They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men.
9Vì Ngài làm cho lòng khao khát được thỏa thích, Khiến cho hồn đói được đầy dẫy vật tốt.
9For He hath satisfied a longing soul, And a hungry soul hath filled [with] goodness.
10Những kẻ ở trong tối tăm và bóng sự chết, Bị khốn khổ và xích sắt bắt buộc,
10Inhabitants of dark places and death-shade, Prisoners of affliction and of iron,
11Bởi vì đã bội nghịch lời Ðức Chúa Trời, Và khinh dể sự khuyên dạy của Ðấng Chí cao.
11Because they changed the saying of God, And the counsel of the Most High despised.
12Nhơn đó Ngài lấy sự lao khổ hạ lòng họ xuống; Họ vấp ngã không ai giúp đỡ.
12And He humbleth with labour their heart, They have been feeble, and there is no helper.
13Bấy giờ trong cơn gian truân họ kêu cầu Ðức Giê-hô-va; Ngài bèn giải cứu họ khỏi điều gian nan,
13And they cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distresses He saveth them.
14Rút họ khỏi sự tối tăm và bóng sự chết, Cũng bẻ gãy xiềng của họ.
14He bringeth them out from the dark place, And death-shade, And their bands He draweth away.
15Nguyện người ta ngợi khen Ðức Giê-hô-va vì sự nhơn từ Ngài, Và vì các công việc lạ lùng Ngài làm cho con loài người!
15They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men.
16Vì Ngài đã phá cửa đồng, Và gãy các song sắt.
16For He hath broken doors of brass, And bars of iron He hath cut.
17Kẻ ngu dại bị khốn khổ Vì sự vi phạm và sự gian ác mình;
17Fools, by means of their transgression, And by their iniquities, afflict themselves.
18Lòng chúng nó gớm ghê các thứ đồ ăn; Họ đến gần cửa sự chết.
18All food doth their soul abominate, And they come nigh unto the gates of death,
19Bấy giờ trong cơn gian truân họ kêu cầu Ðức Giê-hô-va, Ngài bèn giải cứu họ khỏi điều gian nan.
19And cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distresses He saveth them,
20Ngài ra lịnh chữa họ lành, Rút họ khỏi cái huyệt.
20He sendeth His word and healeth them, And delivereth from their destructions.
21Nguyện người ta ngợi khen Ðức Giê-hô-va vì sự nhơn từ Ngài, Và vì các công việc lạ lùng Ngài làm cho con loài người!
21They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men,
22Nguyện chúng dâng của lễ thù ân, Lấy bài hát vui mừng mà thuật các công việc Ngài.
22And they sacrifice sacrifices of thanksgiving, And recount His works with singing.
23Có người đi xuống tàu trong biển, Và làm việc nơi nước cả;
23Those going down [to] the sea in ships, Doing business in many waters,
24Kẻ ấy thấy công việc Ðức Giê-hô-va, Xem phép lạ Ngài trong nước sâu.
24They have seen the works of Jehovah, And His wonders in the deep.
25Ngài biểu, bèn có trận gió bão, Nổi các lượn sóng lên.
25And He saith, and appointeth a tempest, And it lifteth up its billows,
26Ðưa cao đến các từng trời, rồi hụp xuống tới vực sâu: Lòng họ tiêu tan vì khốn khổ.
26They go up [to] the heavens, they go down [to] the depths, Their soul in evil is melted.
27Họ choáng váng xiêu tó như một người say, Sự khôn ngoan họ đều mất hết.
27They reel to and fro, and move as a drunkard, And all their wisdom is swallowed up.
28Bấy giờ trong cơn gian truân họ kêu cầu Ðức Giê-hô-va, Ngài bèn giải cứu họ khỏi điều gian nan.
28And they cry to Jehovah in their adversity, And from their distresses He bringeth them out.
29Ngài ngừng bão-tố, đổi nó ra bình tịnh, Và sóng êm lặng.
29He establisheth a whirlwind to a calm, And hushed are their billows.
30Họ bèn vui mừng vì sóng êm lặng; Chúa dẫn họ vào bến họ ước ao.
30And they rejoice because they are quiet, And He leadeth them to the haven of their desire.
31Nguyện người ta ngợi khen Ðức Giê-hô-va vì sự nhơn từ Ngài, Và vì các công việc lạ lùng Ngài làm cho con loài người!
31They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men,
32Người ta cũng hãy tôn cao Ngài trong hội dân sự, Và ngợi khen, Ngài tại nơi hiệp tập các trưởng lão.
32And they exalt Him in the assembly of the people, And in the seat of the elders praise Him.
33Ngài đổi sông ra đồng vắng, Suối nước thành đất khô,
33He maketh rivers become a wilderness, And fountains of waters become dry land.
34Và đất màu mỡ ra đất mặn, Vì cớ sự gian ác của dân ở tại đó.
34A fruitful land becometh a barren place, For the wickedness of its inhabitants.
35Ngài biến đồng vắng thành ao nước, Ðất khô ra những suối nước;
35He maketh a wilderness become a pool of water, And a dry land become fountains of waters.
36Ngài làm cho những kẻ đói được ở lại đó, Họ xây lập thành đặng ở.
36And He causeth the hungry to dwell there, And they prepare a city of habitation.
37Họ gieo ruộng và trồng nho, Ruộng và nho sanh bông trái.
37And they sow fields, and plant vineyards, And they make fruits of increase.
38Ðức Chúa Trời ban phước cho họ đến đỗi họ sanh sản nhiều thêm; Ngài không để cho súc vật họ bị hao hớt.
38And He blesseth them, and they multiply exceedingly, And their cattle He doth not diminish.
39Họ lại bị hạ số và phải cực lòng Vì sự hà hiếp, sự gian nan, và sự buồn rầu.
39And they are diminished, and bow down, By restraint, evil, and sorrow.
40Ngài đổ sự nhuốc nhơ trên vua chúa, Khiến họ phải lưu lạc trong nơi vắng vẻ không đường.
40He is pouring contempt upon nobles, And causeth them to wander in vacancy — no way.
41Nhưng Ngài vớt kẻ thiếu thốn khỏi hoạn nạn, Làm cho người ấy được gia quyến đông như bầy chiên.
41And setteth on high the needy from affliction, And placeth families as a flock.
42Các người ngay thẳng sẽ thấy điều ấy, và vui vẻ, Còn các kẻ ác đều phải ngậm miệng lại.
42The upright do see and rejoice, And all perversity hath shut her mouth.
43Phàm kẻ nào khôn ngoan sẽ chú ý về điều nầy, Và suy gẫm sự nhơn từ của Ðức Giê-hô-va.
43Who [is] wise, and observeth these? They understand the kind acts of Jehovah!
