¹Na-ô-mi có một người bà con bên chồng, người có quyền thế và giàu, về họ hàng Ê-li-mê-léc; tên người là Bô-ô.

¹And Naomi hath an acquaintance of her husband`s, a man mighty in wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name [is] Boaz.

²Ru-tơ, người Mô-áp, thưa cùng Na-ô-mi rằng: Xin để cho con đi ra ngoài ruộng, đặng mót gié lúa theo sau kẻ sẵn lòng cho con mót. Na-ô-mi đáp: Hỡi con, hãy đi đi.

²And Ruth the Moabitess saith unto Naomi, `Let me go, I pray thee, into the field, and I gather among the ears of corn after him in whose eyes I find grace;` and she saith to her, `Go, my daughter.`

³Vậy, Ru-tơ đi theo sau các con gặt mà mót trong một ruộng kia. Té ra may cho nàng gặp sở đất của Bô-ô, về họ hàng Ê-li-mê-léc.

³And she goeth and cometh and gathereth in a field after the reapers, and her chance happeneth — the portion of the field is Boaz`s who [is] of the family of Elimelech.

⁴Vả, nầy Bô-ô ở Bết-lê-hem đến, nói cùng các con gặt rằng: Nguyện Ðức Giê-hô-va ở cùng các ngươi! Chúng đáp: Nguyện Ðức Giê-hô-va ban phước cho ông!

⁴And lo, Boaz hath come from Beth-Lehem, and saith to the reapers, `Jehovah [is] with you;` and they say to him, `Jehovah doth bless thee.`

⁵Ðoạn, Bô-ô nói cùng đầy tớ coi sóc các con gặt rằng: Người gái trẻ này là con của ai?

⁵And Boaz saith to his young man who is set over the reapers, `Whose [is] this young person?`

⁶Người đầy tớ coi sóc các con gặt đáp rằng: Ấy là người gái trẻ Mô-áp ở từ xứ Mô-áp trở về cùng Na-ô-mi;

⁶And the young man who is set over the reapers answereth and saith, `A young woman — Moabitess — she [is], who came back with Naomi from the fields of Moab,

⁷nàng có nói cùng chúng tôi rằng: Xin cho phép tôi đi sau các con gặt mà mót và lượm nơi giữa các bó lúa. Nàng đã đến từ sáng, đứng mót cho đến bây giờ, trừ ra có nghỉ dưới chòi một chút.

⁷and she saith, Let me glean, I pray thee — and I have gathered among the sheaves after the reapers; and she cometh and remaineth since the morning and till now; she sat in the house a little.

⁸Bô-ô nói cùng Ru-tơ rằng: Hỡi con gái ta, hãy nghe, chớ đi mót trong ruộng khác và cũng đừng xa khỏi chỗ này. Hãy ở cùng các tớ gái ta;

⁸And Boaz saith unto Ruth, `Hast thou not heard, my daughter? go not to glean in another field, and also, pass not over from this, and thus thou dost cleave to my young women:

⁹Xem người ta gặt trong ruộng ở nơi nào, thì hãy đi theo đó. Ta đã cấm các đầy tớ ta đụng đến nàng. Nếu có khát, hãy đi uống nước nơi bình của chúng sẽ múc cho.

⁹thine eyes [are] on the field which they reap, and thou hast gone after them; have not I charged the young men not to touch thee? when thou art athirst then thou hast gone unto the vessels, and hast drunk from that which the young men draw.`

¹⁰Ru-tơ bèn sấp mình xuống dưới chơn người, cúi đầu đến đất, mà thưa rằng: Vì duyên cớ nào tôi được ơn trước mặt ông, đến đỗi ông đoái xem tôi, vốn là một người ngoại bang?

¹⁰And she falleth on her face, and boweth herself to the earth, and saith unto him, `Wherefore have I found grace in thine eyes, to discern me, and I a stranger?`

¹¹Bô-ô đáp: Người ta có thuật cho ta nghe mọi điều nàng đã làm cho mẹ chồng nàng, từ khi chồng nàng chết, và cách nào nàng đã lìa cha mẹ, xứ sở sanh của nàng, đặng đi đến một dân tộc mà nàng không biết trước.

¹¹And Boaz answereth and saith to her, `It hath thoroughly been declared to me all that thou hast done with thy mother-in-law, after the death of thy husband, and thou dost leave thy father, and thy mother, and the land of thy birth, and dost come in unto a people which thou hast not known heretofore.

¹²Nguyện Ðức Giê-hô-va báo đáp điều nàng đã làm; nàng đã đến núp dưới cánh Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên; cầu xin Ngài thưởng cho nàng cách trọn vẹn.

¹²Jehovah doth recompense thy work, and thy reward is complete from Jehovah, God of Israel, under whose wings thou hast come to take refuge.`

¹³Nàng thưa rằng: Hỡi chúa! chúa đã an ủi và giục lòng kẻ tôi tớ chúa, cầu chúa lấy lòng ân huệ đãi tôi, dẫu rằng tôi không đồng bực cùng các tớ gái chúa!

¹³And she saith, `Let me find grace in thine eyes, my lord, because thou hast comforted me, and because thou hast spoken unto the heart of thy maid-servant, and I — I am not as one of thy maid-servants.`

¹⁴Trong bữa ăn, Bô-ô lại nói cùng nàng rằng: Hãy lại gần, ăn bánh này và nhúng miếng nàng trong giấm. Vậy, nàng ngồi gần bên các con gặt. Người đưa cho nàng hột mạch rang, nàng ăn cho đến no nê, rồi để dành phần dư lại.

¹⁴And Boaz saith to her, `At meal-time come nigh hither, and thou hast eaten of the bread, and dipped thy morsel in the vinegar.` And she sitteth at the side of the reapers, and he reacheth to her roasted corn, and she eateth, and is satisfied, and leaveth.

¹⁵Ðoạn, nàng đứng dậy đặng mót. Bô-ô truyền lịnh cho các đầy tớ mình rằng: Hãy để cho nàng mót, dẫu ở giữa các bó lúa, chớ làm xấu hổ nàng.

¹⁵And she riseth to glean, and Boaz chargeth his young men, saying, `Even between the sheaves she doth glean, and ye do not cause her to blush;

¹⁶Cũng hãy rút vài gié trong bó lúa, bỏ rớt cho nàng lượm lấy, và chớ trách móc nàng chút nào.

¹⁶and also ye do surely cast to her of the handfuls — and have left, and she hath gleaned, and ye do not push against her.`

¹⁷Vậy, Ru-tơ mót trong ruộng cho đến chiều tối, đập lúa mình đã mót, hứng được chừng một ê-pha lúa mạch.

¹⁷And she gleaneth in the field till the evening, and beateth out that which she hath gleaned, and it is about an ephah of barley;

¹⁸Nàng vác đem trở vào trong thành; bà gia nàng thấy lúa nàng đã mót. Ðoạn, Ru-tơ trút phần bữa ăn dư ra mà trao cho người.

¹⁸and she taketh [it] up, and goeth into the city, and her mother-in-law seeth that which she hath gleaned, and she bringeth out and giveth to her that which she left from her satiety.

¹⁹Bà gia nói: Ngày nay, con có mót ở đâu? Con có làm việc ở đâu? Phước cho người đã nhận tiếp con! Nàng nói cho bà gia mình hay mình có làm việc nơi chủ nào. Nàng nói: Người chủ của nơi tôi có làm việc ngày nay, tên là Bô-ô.

¹⁹And her mother-in-law saith to her, `Where hast thou gleaned to-day? and where hast thou wrought? may he who is discerning thee be blessed.` And she declareth to her mother-in-law with whom she hath wrought, and saith, `The name of the man with whom I have wrought to-day [is] Boaz.`

²⁰Na-ô-mi đáp dùng dâu mình rằng: Nguyện Ðức Giê-hô-va ban phước cho người, vì Ngài không dứt làm ơn cho kẻ sống và kẻ chết! Tiếp rằng: Người đó là bà con của chúng ta, vốn là trong những kẻ có quyền chuộc sản nghiệp ta lại

²⁰And Naomi saith to her daughter-in-law, `Blessed [is] he of Jehovah who hath not forsaken His kindness with the living and with the dead;` and Naomi saith to her, `The man is a relation of ours; he [is] of our redeemers.`

²¹Ru-tơ, người Mô-áp, tiếp rằng: Người cũng có nói cùng tôi rằng: hãy ở cùng các đầy tớ ta cho đến chừng làm xong hết mùa gặt.

²¹And Ruth the Moabitess saith, `Also he surely said unto me, Near the young people whom I have thou dost cleave till they have completed the whole of the harvest which I have.`

²²Na-ô-mi nói cùng Ru-tơ, dâu mình, rằng: Hỡi con gái ta, lấy làm phải cho con đi với các tớ gái người, chớ cho người ta gặp con trong một ruộng khác.

²²And Naomi saith unto Ruth her daughter-in-law, `Good, my daughter, that thou goest out with his young women, and they come not against thee in another field.`

²³Vậy, nàng ở cùng các tớ gái của Bô-ô, đặng mót cho đến hết mùa gặt lúa mạch và mùa gặt lúa mì; nàng ở nhà của bà gia mình.

²³And she cleaveth to the young women of Boaz to glean, till the completion of the barley-harvest, and of the wheat-harvest, and she dwelleth with her mother-in-law.
