¹Ða-vít bèn nói: Ấy đây là đền của Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời, đây là bàn thờ về của lễ thiêu của Y-sơ-ra-ên.

¹Then David said, “This is the house of Yahweh God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”

²Ða-vít thờ lạy nhóm các người ngoại bang ở trong xứ Y-sơ-ra-ên; rồi người khiến trợ đục đá, đặng làm những đá đục, hầu cất cái đền của Ðức Chúa Trời.

²David gave orders to gather together the foreigners who were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to cut worked stones to build God’s house.

³Ða-vít cũng dự bị nhiều sắt, đường làm đinh cánh cửa và mấu cửa, cùng nhiều đồng không thể cân được,

³David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings; and brass in abundance without weight;

⁴và gỗ bá hương vô số; vì dân Si-đôn và dân Ty-rơ chở rất nhiều gỗ bá hương đến cho vua Ða-vít.

⁴and cedar trees without number: for the Sidonians and they of Tyre brought cedar trees in abundance to David.

⁵Ða-vít nói rằng: Sa-lô-môn, con trai ta, hãy còn thơ ấu và non nớt, mà cái đền sẽ cất cho Ðức Giê-hô-va phải rất nguy nga, có danh tiếng rực rỡ trong các nước; vì vậy, ta sẽ dự bị đồ cần dùng cho nó. Thế thì, Ða-vít dự bị rất nhiều đồ trước khi người qua đời.

⁵David said, “Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for Yahweh must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. I will therefore make preparation for it.” So David prepared abundantly before his death.

⁶Bấy giờ, Ða-vít gọi Sa-lô-môn, con trai mình, truyền dặn người cất một cái đền cho Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên.

⁶Then he called for Solomon his son, and commanded him to build a house for Yahweh, the God of Israel.

⁷Ða-vít nói với Sa-lô-môn rằng: Hỡi con, ta có ý muốn xây cất một cái đền cho danh Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ta;

⁷David said to Solomon his son, “As for me, it was in my heart to build a house to the name of Yahweh my God.

⁸nhưng có lời của Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng ta rằng: ngươi đã đổ huyết ra nhiều, đánh những giặc lớn lao; vậy vì ngươi đã đổ huyết ra nhiều trên đất tại trước mặt ta, nên người sẽ chẳng cất đền cho danh ta.

⁸But the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, ‘You have shed blood abundantly, and have made great wars. You shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight.

⁹Kìa, con trai mà người sẽ sanh ra, nó sẽ là người thái bình; ta sẽ ban bình an cho nó; cơn thịnh nộ ở bốn phía nó sẽ chẳng khuấy rối nó; vì tên nó sẽ là Sa-lô-môn; trong đời nó ta sẽ ban sự thái bình an tịnh cho Y-sơ-ra-ên.

⁹Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest. I will give him rest from all his enemies all around; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.

¹⁰Nó sẽ cất một đền cho danh ta; nó sẽ làm con trai ta, ta sẽ làm cha nó; và ta sẽ lập ngôi nước nó trên Y-sơ-ra-ên được bền vững đời đời.

¹⁰He shall build a house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.’

¹¹Bây giờ, hỡi con trai ta, nguyện Ðức Giê-hô-va ở cùng con và làm cho con được hanh thông; con sẽ cất cái đền cho Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời con, theo như lời Ngài đã phán về việc con.

¹¹Now, my son, may Yahweh be with you and prosper you, and build the house of Yahweh your God, as he has spoken concerning you.

¹²Nguyện Ðức Giê-hô-va ban cho con sự khôn ngoan thông sáng, khiến cho con cai trị trên Y-sơ-ra-ên, để con gìn giữ luật pháp của Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời con.

¹²May Yahweh give you discretion and understanding, and put you in charge of Israel; that so you may keep the law of Yahweh your God.

¹³Nếu con cảm tạ làm theo các luật pháp và mạng lịnh mà Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn Môi-se truyền cho Y-sơ-ra-ên, thì con sẽ được hanh thông. Khá vững lòng bền chí; chớ sợ sệt, chớ kinh hãi chi.

¹³Then you will prosper, if you observe to do the statutes and the ordinances which Yahweh gave Moses concerning Israel. Be strong, and courageous. Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed.

¹⁴Nay ta đã chịu hoạn nạn mà sắm sửa cho đền của Ðức Giê-hô-va mười vạn ta lâng vàng, một trăm vạn ta lâng bạc; còn đồng và sắt thì không thể cân được, vì nó nhiều quá; ta lại dự bị gỗ và đá; và con cũng sẽ thêm vào đó.

¹⁴Now, behold, in my affliction I have prepared for the house of Yahweh one hundred thousand talents of gold, one million talents of silver, and brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance. I have also prepared timber and stone; and you may add to them.

¹⁵Vả lại, con có nhiều nhân công thợ đục đá, thợ hồ, thợ mộc, đủ người thạo về các thứ công việc;

¹⁵There are also workmen with you in abundance, cutters and workers of stone and timber, and all kinds of men who are skillful in every kind of work:

¹⁶vàng, bạc, đồng, sắt, thì vô-số. Hãy chổi dậy làm, Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ ở cùng con.

¹⁶of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise and be doing, and may Yahweh be with you.”

¹⁷Ða-vít cũng truyền dặn các quan trưởng của Y-sơ-ra-ên giúp đỡ Sa-lô-môn, con trai người, mà rằng:

¹⁷David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,

¹⁸Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời các ngươi há chẳng ở cùng các ngươi sao? Ngài há chẳng ban cho các ngươi được bình an bốn phía sao? Vì Ngài đã phó dân của xứ vào tay ta, và xứ đã suy phục trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, và trước mặt dân sự Ngài.

¹⁸“Isn’t Yahweh your God with you? Hasn’t he given you rest on every side? For he has delivered the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before Yahweh, and before his people.

¹⁹Vậy bây giờ, hãy hết lòng hết ý tìm cầu Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của các ngươi; hãy chổi dậy, xây cất đền thánh cho Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời, để rước hòm giao ước của Ðức Giê-hô-va và các khí dụng của đền thánh Ðức Chúa Trời vào trong nhà toan cất cho danh của Ðức Giê-hô-va.

¹⁹Now set your heart and your soul to seek after Yahweh your God. Arise therefore, and build the sanctuary of Yahweh God, to bring the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of Yahweh.”
