¹Ngoài con gái của Pha-ra-ôn, vua Sa-lô-môn lại còn thương mến nhiều người nữ của dân ngoại; tức là người nữ Mô-áp, Am-môn, Ê-đôm, Si-đôn, và Hê-tít.

¹Now king Solomon loved many foreign women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites;

²Chúng nó thuộc về các dân tộc mà Ðức Giê-hô-va có phán với dân Y-sơ-ra-ên rằng: Các ngươi và chúng nó chớ đi lại giao thông với nhau; vì chúng nó hẳn sẽ quyến dụ lòng các ngươi hướng theo các thần chúng nó. Sa-lô-môn tríu mến những người nữ ấy.

²of the nations concerning which Yahweh said to the children of Israel, “You shall not go among them, neither shall they come among you; for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon joined to these in love.

³Người có bảy trăm hoàng hậu, và ba trăm cung nữ; chúng nó bèn làm cho người trở lòng.

³He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart.

⁴Trong buổi già yếu, các hoàng hậu của Sa-lô-môn dụ lòng người đi theo các thần khác: Ðối cùng Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời mình, lòng người chẳng trọn lành như thể lòng của Ða-vít, là cha người.

⁴For it happened, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with Yahweh his God, as was the heart of David his father.

⁵Vì Sa-lô-môn cúng thờ Át-tạt-tê, nữ thần của dân Si-đôn, và thần Minh-côm, là thần đáng gớm ghiếc của dân Am-môn.

⁵For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

⁶Như vậy, Sa-lô-môn làm điều ác trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, chẳng vâng theo Ðức Giê-hô-va cách trọn lành như Ða-vít, cha người, đã làm.

⁶Solomon did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and didn’t go fully after Yahweh, as did David his father.

⁷Bấy giờ, Sa-lô-môn lại xây cất tại trên núi đối ngang Giê-ru-sa-lem, một nơi cao cho Kê-móc, vật đáng gớm ghiếc của dân Mô-áp, và cho Mo-lóc, vật đáng gớm ghiếc của dân Am-môn.

⁷Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.

⁸Vua cũng làm như vậy cho hết thảy các hoàng hậu ngoại của mình, xông hương và tế lễ cho thần của chúng nó.

⁸So he did for all his foreign wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed to their gods.

⁹Ðức Giê-hô-va nổi giận cùng Sa-lô-môn, bởi vì lòng người trở bỏ Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, là Ðấng đã hai lần hiện đến cùng người,

⁹Yahweh was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned away from Yahweh, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,

¹⁰phán bảo người rằng chớ theo các thần khác; nhưng người không vâng theo lịnh của Ðức Giê-hô-va.

¹⁰and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he didn’t keep that which Yahweh commanded.

¹¹Ðức Giê-hô-va phán với Sa-lô-môn rằng: Bởi vì ngươi đã làm điều này, không giữ giao ước và luật pháp ta truyền cho ngươi, nên ta chắc sẽ đoạt lấy nước khỏi ngươi, cho kẻ tôi tớ ngươi.

¹¹Therefore Yahweh said to Solomon, “Because this is done by you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.

¹²Song vì cớ Ða-vít, cha ngươi, ta sẽ chẳng làm điều đó trong đời ngươi. Ta sẽ đoạt lấy nước khỏi tay con trai ngươi.

¹²Notwithstanding I will not do it in your days, for David your father’s sake; but I will tear it out of the hand of your son.

¹³Lại ta chẳng đoạt lấy cả nước khỏi nó; song vì cớ Ða-vít, đầy tớ ta và vì cớ Giê-ru-sa-lem mà ta đã chọn, ta sẽ để lại một chi phái cho con trai ngươi.

¹³However I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.”

¹⁴Vậy, Ðức Giê-hô-va khiến dấy lên một kẻ thù nghịch cùng Sa-lô-môn, là Ha-đát, người Ê-đôm vốn dòng dõi vua Ê-đôm.

¹⁴Yahweh raised up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king’s seed in Edom.

¹⁵Vả, trong lúc Ða-vít đánh dẹp Ê-đôm, thì Giô-áp là tổng binh, đi lên chôn các kẻ thác, và giết hết thảy người nam trong Ê-đôm.

¹⁵For it happened, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the army was gone up to bury the slain, and had struck every male in Edom

¹⁶Giô-áp và cả Y-sơ-ra-ên ở lại đó sáu tháng, cho đến khi người đã giết hết thảy người trong Ê-đôm.

¹⁶(for Joab and all Israel remained there six months, until he had cut off every male in Edom);

¹⁷Lúc bấy giờ, Ha-đát chạy trốn cùng mấy người Ê-đôm, là tôi tớ của cha người, đặng đến ở Ê-díp-tô; Ha-đát hãy còn thơ ấu.

¹⁷that Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father’s servants with him, to go into Egypt, Hadad being yet a little child.

¹⁸Chúng đi từ Ma-đi-an đến Pha-ran; đoạn bắt mấy người Pha-ran theo mình mà đi đến Ê-díp-tô, ra mắt Pha-ra-ôn, vua xứ Ê-díp-tô. Vua cấp cho Ha-đát nhà ở, lương thực và đất ruộng.

¹⁸They arose out of Midian, and came to Paran; and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, who gave him a house, and appointed him food, and gave him land.

¹⁹Ha-đát được ơn nhiều trước mặt Pha-ra-ôn; vua bèn gả em vợ mình cho người, tức là em của hoàng hậu Tác-bê-ne.

¹⁹Hadad found great favor in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him as wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

²⁰Em của Tác-bê-ne sanh cho Ha-đát một con trai tên là Ghê-nu-bát; Tác-bê-ne dứt sữa nó tại trong đền Pha-ra-ôn. Như vậy, Ghê-nu-bát ở tại trong đền Pha-ra-ôn, giữa các con trai của vua.

²⁰The sister of Tahpenes bore him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh’s house; and Genubath was in Pharaoh’s house among the sons of Pharaoh.

²¹Khi Ha-đát ở Ê-díp-tô hay rằng Ða-vít đã an giấc cùng các tổ tiên người, và Giô-áp, quan tổng binh, đã thác, thì người tâu cùng Pha-ra-ôn rằng: Xin hãy để cho tôi đi trở về trong xứ tôi.

²¹When Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the army was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, “Let me depart, that I may go to my own country.”

²²Pha-ra-ôn đáp với người rằng: Ngươi ở nơi ta có thiếu gì sao, nên ao ước trở về trong xứ mình như vậy? Người thưa rằng: Chẳng thiếu chi. Dầu vậy, xin cho tôi đi.

²²Then Pharaoh said to him, “But what have you lacked with me, that behold, you seek to go to your own country?” He answered, “Nothing, however only let me depart.”

²³Ðức Chúa Trời lại khiến dấy lên một kẻ thù nghịch khác, là Rê-xôn, con trai Ê-li-gia-đa, đã chạy trốn khỏi chúa mình là Ha-đa-đê-xe, vua Xô-ba.

²³God raised up an adversary to him, Rezon the son of Eliada, who had fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah.

²⁴Khi Ða-vít giết quân vua Xô-ba, thì người ấy nhóm người ta chung quanh mình, và làm đầu bọn đó, đi đến thành Ða-mách, bèn ở tại đó, và quản trị thành ấy.

²⁴He gathered men to him, and became captain over a troop, when David killed them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and lived therein, and reigned in Damascus.

²⁵Rê-xôn làm kẻ cừu địch cùng Y-sơ-ra-ên trọn đời Sa-lô-môn, ngoài ra sự bại mà Ha-đát đã làm; người cai trị nước Sy-ri, và ghen ghét Y-sơ-ra-ên.

²⁵He was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, besides the mischief of Hadad: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.

²⁶Giê-rô-bô-am, con trai của Nê-bát, người Ép-ra-im, ở đất Xê-rê-đa, là tôi tớ của Sa-lô-môn, cũng dấy nghịch với người. Mẹ người góa bụa, tên là Xê-ru-ha.

²⁶Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephraimite of Zeredah, a servant of Solomon, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow, he also lifted up his hand against the king.

²⁷Này là duyên cớ mà người phản nghịch với vua: Sa-lô-môn xây cất Mi-lô, lấp vá lại nơi hư lủng của thành Ða-vít, là cha người.

²⁷This was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breach of the city of David his father.

²⁸Vả, Giê-rô-bô-am là một người mạnh dạn và tài năng; Sa-lô-môn thấy người tuổi trẻ có tài nghề, bèn đặt người làm đầu xâu cho cả nhà Giô-sép.

²⁸The man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor; and Solomon saw the young man that he was industrious, and he put him in charge of all the labor of the house of Joseph.

²⁹Xảy trong lúc đó, Giê-rô-bô-am ở Giê-ru-sa-lem đi ra, gặp tiên tri A-hi-gia ở Si-lô tại giữa đường, mặc cái áo tơi mới. Chỉ có hai người ở ngoài đồng mà thôi.

²⁹It happened at that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; now Ahijah had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field.

³⁰A-hi-gia bèn nắm áo mới người mặc trong mình mà xé ra làm mười miếng.

³⁰Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, and tore it in twelve pieces.

³¹Ðoạn, người nói với Giê-rô-bô-am rằng: Hãy lấy mười miếng về phần ngươi, vì Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên có phán như vậy: Kìa, ta sẽ đoạt lấy nước khỏi tay Sa-lô-môn và trao cho ngươi mười chi phái của nước ấy.

³¹He said to Jeroboam, “Take ten pieces; for thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to you

³²Nhưng vì cớ Ða-vít, kẻ tôi tớ ta, và vì cớ Giê-ru-sa-lem, thành ta đã chọn giữa các chi phái Y-sơ-ra-ên, nên sẽ có một chi phái cứ ở trung tín cùng người.

³²(but he shall have one tribe, for my servant David’s sake and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel);

³³Ấy, bởi vì chúng nó đã từ bỏ ta, đi thờ lạy Át-tạ-tê, nữ thần của dân Si-đôn, thần xứ Mô-áp, và Minh-côm, thần của dân Am-môn. Chúng nó không đi theo các đường lối ta, đặng làm điều ngay thẳng tại trước mặt ta, và cũng chẳng giữ luật lệ và điều răn ta, y như Ða-vít, cha của Sa-lô-môn, đã làm.

³³because that they have forsaken me, and have worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon. They have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and to keep my statutes and my ordinances, as David his father did.

³⁴Nhưng ta sẽ chẳng cất lấy cả nước khỏi tay Sa-lô-môn; song vì Ða-vít, kẻ tôi tớ ta, ta đã chọn, ta sẽ lập người làm vua trọn đời người sống, bởi vì Ða-vít đã giữ các điều răn và luật lệ ta.

³⁴“‘However I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand; but I will make him prince all the days of his life, for David my servant’s sake whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my statutes;

³⁵Nhưng ta sẽ đoạt lấy nước khỏi tay con trai người, mà trao cho ngươi mười chi phái.

³⁵but I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand, and will give it to you, even ten tribes.

³⁶Ta sẽ để lại một chi phái cho con trai người, để cho tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, thành ta đã chọn đặng đặt danh ta ở đó, Ða-vít, kẻ tôi tớ ta, hằng có một ngọn đèn trước mặt ta luôn luôn.

³⁶To his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

³⁷Vậy, ta sẽ chọn ngươi và lập làm vua Y-sơ-ra-ên; ngươi sẽ cai trị theo ý muốn lòng ngươi.

³⁷I will take you, and you shall reign according to all that your soul desires, and shall be king over Israel.

³⁸Và, nếu ngươi vâng theo lịnh ta, đi trong các đường lối ta, làm điều thiện trước mặt ta, giữ gìn luật lệ và điều răn ta, y như Ða-vít, tôi tớ ta, đã làm, thì ta sẽ ở cùng ngươi,

³⁸It shall be, if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that which is right in my eyes, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with you, and will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you.

³⁹lập cho ngươi một nhà vững chắc, y như ta đã lập cho Ða-vít, và ta sẽ ban Y-sơ-ra-ên cho ngươi. Như vậy, ta sẽ làm sỉ nhục dòng dõi Ða-vít, nhưng chẳng phải đời đời.

³⁹I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not forever.’”

⁴⁰Sa-lô-môn tìm thế giết Giê-rô-bô-am; nhưng Giê-rô-bô-am chạy trốn qua Ê-díp-tô, đến cùng Si-sắc, vua Ê-díp-tô; rồi người ở tại Ê-díp-tô cho đến chừng Sa-lô-môn băng hà.

⁴⁰Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam; but Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

⁴¹Còn các điều khác về chuyện Sa-lô-môn, mọi việc người, sự khôn ngoan của người, thảy đều đã chép trong sách hành trạng của Sa-lô-môn.

⁴¹Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, aren’t they written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

⁴²Sa-lô-môn ở Giê-ru-sa-lem cai trị trên cả Y-sơ-ra-ên trong bốn mươi năm.

⁴²The time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

⁴³Ðoạn, Sa-lô-môn an giấc cùng các tổ phụ người, và được chôn trong thành Ða-vít, cha người. Rô-bô-am, con trai người, cai trị thế cho người.

⁴³Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.
