¹Năm thứ chín đời Sê-đê-kia, ngày mồng một tháng mười, Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua ba-by-lôn, cùng cả đạo quân người, đến hãm đánh Giê-ru-sa-lem. Người hạ trại trước thành, và đắp lũy vây chung quanh thành.

¹It happened in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it around it.

²Sự vây thành lâu dài cho đến năm thứ mười một đời Sê-đê-kia.

²So the city was besieged to the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.

³Ngày mồng chín tháng tư, có sự đói kém lớn trong thành, dân sự không có bánh.

³On the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

⁴Bấy giờ, quân Canh-đê làm lủng một lỗ nơi vách tường thành; đoạn hết thảy quân lính đương ban đêm đều chạy trốn bởi cửa sổ giữa hai vách thành gần vườn vua. Ðường khi quân Canh-đê vây thành, thì vua chạy trốn theo đường đồng bằng.

⁴Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden (now the Chaldeans were against the city around it); and the king went by the way of the Arabah.

⁵Ðạo quân Canh-đê bèn đuổi theo vua, và theo kịp người tại trong đồng bằng Giê-ri-cô; cả cơ binh người đều tản lạc và bỏ người.

⁵But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

⁶Quân Canh-đê bắt vua, dẫn đến vua Ba-by-lôn ở Ríp-la; tại đó chúng nó xét đoán người.

⁶Then they took the king, and carried him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment on him.

⁷Chúng nó giết các con trai Sê-đê-kia trước mặt người; đoạn, chúng nó móc mắt Sê-đê-kia xiềng người bằng xích đồng, rồi dẫn người đến Ba-by-lôn.

⁷They killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

⁸Ngày mồng bảy tháng năm, năm thứ mười chín đời Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-lôn, quan thị vệ Nê-bu-xa-ra-đan, tôi tớ của vua Ba-by-lôn, đến Giê-ru-sa-lem.

⁸Now in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, to Jerusalem.

⁹Người thiêu đốt đền thờ Ðức Giê-hô-va, cung của vua, và mọi nhà trong thành Giê-ru-sa-lem; thiêu đốt luôn các nhà của người sang trọng.

⁹He burnt the house of Yahweh, and the king’s house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, burnt he with fire.

¹⁰Ðoạn, đạo quân Canh-đê, vâng lịnh quan thị vệ, phá đổ vách thành chung quanh Giê-ru-sa-lem.

¹⁰All the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down the walls around Jerusalem.

¹¹Quan thị vệ Nê-bu-xa-ra-đan bắt dân cư còn sót lại trong thành, luôn với những kẻ hàng đầu vua Ba-by-lôn và đám dân còn lại khác, mà dẫn đi làm phu tù.

¹¹Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive the residue of the people who were left in the city, and those who fell away, who fell to the king of Babylon, and the residue of the multitude.

¹²Quan thị vệ chỉ chừa lại trong xứ những người nghèo khổ hơn hết, đặng trồng nho và làm ruộng.

¹²But the captain of the guard left some of the poorest of the land to work the vineyards and fields.

¹³Quân Canh-đê đập bể những trụ đồng, táng đồng, và cái biển bằng đồng ở trong đền thờ của Ðức Giê-hô-va, rồi đem đồng ấy về Ba-by-lôn.

¹³The Chaldeans broke up the pillars of brass that were in the house of Yahweh and the bases and the bronze sea that were in the house of Yahweh, and carried the brass pieces to Babylon.

¹⁴Chúng nó cũng đem đi những nồi đồng, vá, dao, chén, và hết thảy những khí dụng bằng đồng dùng vào việc thờ phượng.

¹⁴They took away the pots, the shovels, the snuffers, the spoons, and all the vessels of brass with which they ministered.

¹⁵Lại quan thị vệ ấy đem đi những lư hương, chậu, và các vật bằng vàng, bạc.

¹⁵The captain of the guard took away the fire pans, the basins, that which was of gold, in gold, and that which was of silver, in silver.

¹⁶Còn hai cây trụ, cái biển đồng, và các miếng táng mà Sa-lô-môn đã làm cho đền thờ của Ðức Giê-hô-va, thì không thể cân được đồng của các vật ấy.

¹⁶The two pillars, the one sea, and the bases, which Solomon had made for the house of Yahweh, the brass of all these vessels was without weight.

¹⁷Mỗi cây trụ có mười tám thước bề cao, có bao quanh lưới và trái lựu cũng bằng đồng. Cây thứ nhì trang sức lưới giống như cây trước.

¹⁷The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a capital of brass was on it; and the height of the capital was three cubits, with network and pomegranates on the capital around it, all of brass: and like to these had the second pillar with network.

¹⁸Quan thị vệ bắt thầy tế lễ thượng phẩm Sê-ra-gia, thầy phó tế lễ Sô-phô-ni, và ba người canh giữ cửa đền thờ,

¹⁸The captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold:

¹⁹lại bắt trong thành một hoạn quan coi các chiến sĩ, năm người trong các cận thần vua, thơ ký của quan tổng binh lo chiêu mộ binh lính của xứ, luôn với sáu mươi người của xứ cũng ở trong thành;

¹⁹and out of the city he took an officer who was set over the men of war; and five men of those who saw the king’s face, who were found in the city; and the scribe, the captain of the army, who mustered the people of the land; and sixty men of the people of the land, who were found in the city.

²⁰quan thị vệ Nê-bu-xa-ra-đan bắt dẫn hết thảy những người ấy đến vua Ba-by-lôn, tại Ríp-la.

²⁰Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.

²¹Vua Ba-by-lôn khiến giết chúng nó tại Ríp-la, trong xứ Ha-mát. Như vậy, dân Giu-đa bị bắt đem đi khỏi xứ mình.

²¹The king of Babylon struck them, and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his land.

²²Còn về dân sự mà Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa đã chừa lại trong xứ Giu-đa, thì vua Ba-by-lôn đặt Ghê-đa-lia, con trai A-hi-cam, cháu Sa-phan, làm quan tổng đốc.

²²As for the people who were left in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, governor.

²³Khi các quan tướng tức là Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, Giô-ha-nan, con trai Ca-rê-át, Sê-ra-gia, con trai Tan-hu-mết ở Nê-tô-phát và Gia-a-xa-nia, con trai của Ma-ca-thít, và những quân lính họ, đṀu hay rº±ng vua Ba-by-lôn đã đặt Ghê-đa-lia làm quan tổng đốc, thì họ bèn đi đến người tại Mích-ba.

²³Now when all the captains of the forces, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

²⁴Ghê-đia-lia thề với chúng và với quân lính của chúng rằng: Chớ sợ những tôi tớ của Canh-đê. Hãy ở trong xứ, thần phục vua Ba-by-lôn, thì các ngươi sẽ được bình an.

²⁴Gedaliah swore to them and to their men, and said to them, “Don’t be afraid because of the servants of the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.”

²⁵Nhưng tháng bảy, Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, cháu Ê-li-sa-ma, về dòng dõi vua, đến tại Mích-ba, có mười người đi theo, đánh Ghê-đa-lia, và giết người luôn với người Giu-đa và người Canh-đê ở với người.

²⁵But it happened in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal seed came, and ten men with him, and struck Gedaliah, so that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldeans that were with him at Mizpah.

²⁶Cả dân sự, từ nhỏ đến lờn, và những quan tướng, bèn chổi dậy, đi đến xứ Ê-díp-tô, bởi vì sợ người Canh-đê báo thù.

²⁶All the people, both small and great, and the captains of the forces, arose, and came to Egypt; for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.

²⁷Năm thứ ba mươi bảy từ khi Giê-hô-gia-kin, vua Giu-đa, phải giam, ngày hai mươi bảy tháng mười hai, Ê-vinh-mê-rô-đác, vua Ba-by-lôn, năm đầu tức vị, tha cho Giê-hô-gia-kin, vua Giu-đa, ra khỏi ngục.

²⁷It happened in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;

²⁸Người nói với Giê-hô-gia-kin lời hòa nhã, và đặt ngôi người cao hơn ngôi các vua đồng với người tại Ba-by-lôn.

²⁸and he spoke kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon,

²⁹Người biểu lột áo tù của Giê-hô-gia-kin, và cho người ăn đồng bàn với mình trọn đời người.

²⁹and changed his prison garments. Jehoiachin ate bread before him continually all the days of his life:

³⁰Lại trọn đời người, vua hằng ngày lo phú cấp lương thực cho người.

³⁰and for his allowance, there was a continual allowance given him of the king, every day a portion, all the days of his life.
