¹Phao-lô, theo ý muốn Ðức Chúa Trời, làm sứ đồ của Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ, gởi cho các thánh đồ ở thành Ê-phê-sô, cho những kẻ trung tín trong Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ:

¹Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, to the saints who are at Ephesus, and the faithful in Christ Jesus:

²nguyền xin ân điển và sự bình an ban cho anh em từ nơi Ðức Chúa Trời, Cha chúng ta, và từ nơi Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ!

²Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

³Ngợi khen Ðức Chúa Trời, Cha Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ chúng ta, Ngài đã xuống phước cho chúng ta trong Ðấng Christ đủ mọi thứ phước thiêng liêng ở các nơi trên trời,

³Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ;

⁴trước khi sáng thế, Ngài đã chọn chúng ta trong Ðấng Christ, đặng làm nên thánh không chỗ trách được trước mặt Ðức Chúa Trời,

⁴even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without blemish before him in love;

⁵bởi sự thương yêu của Ngài đã định trước cho chúng ta được trở nên con nuôi của Ngài bởi Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ, theo ý tốt của Ngài,

⁵having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire,

⁶để khen ngợi sự vinh hiển của ân điển Ngài đã ban cho chúng ta cách nhưng không trong Con yêu dấu của Ngài!

⁶to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely bestowed favor on us in the Beloved,

⁷Ấy là trong Ðấng Christ, chúng ta được cứu chuộc bởi huyết Ngài, được tha tội, theo sự dư dật của ân điển Ngài,

⁷in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

⁸mà Ngài đã rải ra đầy dẫy trên chúng ta cùng với mọi thứ khôn ngoan thông sáng,

⁸which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,

⁹khiến chúng ta biết sự mầu nhiệm của ý muốn Ngài, theo ý định mà Ngài đã tự lập thành trước trong lòng nhơn từ Ngài

⁹making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him

¹⁰để làm sự định trước đó trong khi kỳ mãn, hội hiệp muôn vật lại trong Ðấng Christ, cả vật ở trên trời và vật ở dưới đất.

¹⁰to an administration of the fullness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things on the earth, in him;

¹¹Ấy cũng là trong Ngài mà chúng ta đã nên kẻ dự phần kế nghiệp, như đã định trước cho chúng ta được điều đó, theo mạng của Ðấng làm mọi sự hiệp với ý quyết đoán,

¹¹in whom also we were assigned an inheritance, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his will;

¹²hầu cho sự vinh hiển của Ngài nhờ chúng ta là kẻ đã trông cậy trong Ðấng Christ trước nhứt mà được ngợi khen.

¹²to the end that we should be to the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ:

¹³Ấy lại cũng trong Ngài mà anh em sau khi đã nghe đạo chơn thật, là đạo Tin Lành về sự cứu rỗi anh em, ấy là trong Ngài mà anh em đã tin và được ấn chứng bằng Ðức Thánh Linh là Ðấng Chúa đã hứa,

¹³in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

¹⁴Ðấng ấy làm của cầm về cơ nghiệp chúng ta, cho đến kỳ chuộc lấy những kẻ mà Ngài đã được để khen ngợi sự vinh hiển Ngài.

¹⁴who is a pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory.

¹⁵Vậy nên, sau khi tôi có nghe đức tin anh em hướng về Ðức Chúa Jêsus và tình yêu thương đối với các thánh đồ,

¹⁵For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which you have toward all the saints,

¹⁶thì tôi vì anh em cảm tạ không thôi, thường nhắc đến anh em trong khi cầu nguyện.

¹⁶don’t cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,

¹⁷Tôi cầu Ðức Chúa Trời của Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ chúng ta, là Cha vinh hiển, ban thần trí của sự khôn sáng và của sự tỏ ra cho anh em, để nhận biết Ngài,

¹⁷that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him;

¹⁸lại soi sáng con mắt của lòng anh em, hầu cho biết điều trông cậy về sự kêu gọi của Ngài là thể nào, sự giàu có của cơ nghiệp vinh hiển Ngài cho các thánh đồ là làm sao,

¹⁸having the eyes of your hearts TR reads “understanding” instead of “hearts” enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

¹⁹và biết quyền vô hạn của Ngài, đối với chúng ta có lòng tin, là lớn dường nào, y theo phép tối thượng của năng lực mình,

¹⁹and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might

²⁰mà Ngài đã tỏ ra trong Ðấng Christ, khi khiến Ðấng Christ từ kẻ chết sống lại và làm cho ngồi bên hữu mình tại các nơi trên trời,

²⁰which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places,

²¹cao hơn hết mọi quyền, mọi phép, mọi thế lực, mọi quân chủ cùng mọi danh vang ra, không những trong đời nầy, mà cũng trong đời hầu đến nữa.

²¹far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come.

²²Ngài đã bắt muôn vật phục dưới chơn Ðấng Christ, và ban cho Ðấng Christ làm đầu Hội thánh,

²²He put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the assembly,

²³Hội thánh là thân thể của Ðấng Christ, tức là sự đầy đủ của Ðấng gồm tóm mọi sự trong mọi loài.

²³which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
