¹Về đời A-cha, con trai Giô-tham, cháu Ô-xia, vua nước Giu-đa, xảy có Rê-xin, vua xứ Sy-ri, và Phê-ca, con trai Rê-ma-lia, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, lên đánh thành Giê-ru-sa-lem; nhưng không thắng được.

¹It happened in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

²Có người váo tin đó cho nhà Ða-vít, mà rằng: Sy-ri kết minh cùng Ép-ra-im. Bấy giờ A-cha và dân sự người trong lòng kinh động, như cây trên rừng bị gió day.

²It was told the house of David, saying, “Syria is allied with Ephraim.” His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.

³Ðức Giê-hô-va bèn phán cùng Ê-sai rằng: Ngươi cùng con trai ngươi là Sê-a-Gia-rúp hãy đi đón A-cha tại nơi cuối cống ao trên, trên đường cái ruộng thợ nện,

³Then Yahweh said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you, and Shearjashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway of the fuller’s field.

⁴mà nói cùng người rằng: Hãy cẩn thận, ở yên lặng; đừng sợ chi, lòng ngươi chớ bủn rủn vì cớ hai đuôi đuốc có khói, tức là vì cơn giận dữ của Rê-xin và Sy-ri, và của con trai Rê-ma-lia.

⁴Tell him, ‘Be careful, and keep calm. Don’t be afraid, neither let your heart be faint because of these two tails of smoking torches, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

⁵Vì Sy-ri với Ép-ra-im và con trai của Rê-ma-lia đồng mưu hại ngươi, nói rằng:

⁵Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have plotted evil against you, saying,

⁶Chúng ta hãy lên nghịch cùng Giu-đa, khuấy rối nó, phá thành và lập một vua giữa nó, tức là con trai của Ta-bê-ên.

⁶“Let’s go up against Judah, and tear it apart, and let’s divide it among ourselves, and set up a king in its midst, even the son of Tabeel.”

⁷Chúa là Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Sự ngăm đe ấy không thành, điều đó không xảy ra!

⁷This is what the Lord Yahweh says: “It shall not stand, neither shall it happen.”

⁸Vì đầu của Sy-ri là Ða-mách, đầu của Ða-mách là Rê-xin. Còn trong sáu mươi lăm năm, Ép-ra-im sẽ bị hủy diệt, không được kể là dân nữa.

⁸For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken in pieces, so that it shall not be a people;

⁹Ðầu của Ép-ra-im là Sa-ma-ri, đầu Sa-ma-ri là con trai của Rê-ma-lia. Nếu các ngươi không tin, chắc sẽ không đứng vững được.

⁹and the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.’”

¹⁰Ðức Giê-hô-va lại phán cùng A-cha rằng:

¹⁰Yahweh spoke again to Ahaz, saying,

¹¹Hãy xin Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi một điềm, hoặc dưới vực sâu, hoặc trên trời cao.

¹¹“Ask a sign of Yahweh your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.”

¹²A-cha thưa rằng: Tôi sẽ chẳng xin tôi cũng chẳng thử Ðức Giê-hô-va.

¹²But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, neither will I tempt Yahweh.”

¹³Ê-sai bèn nói rằng: Hỡi nhà Ða-vít, hãy nghe! Các ngươi cho làm phiền người ta là nhỏ mọn, mà muốn làm phiền Ðức Chúa Trời ta nữa sao?

¹³He said, “Listen now, house of David. Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God also?

¹⁴Vậy nên, chính Chúa sẽ ban một điềm cho các ngươi: nầy một gái đồng trinh sẽ chịu thai, sanh ra một trai, và đặt trên là Em-ma-nu-ên.

¹⁴Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. “Immanuel” means “God with us.”

¹⁵Con trẻ ấy sẽ ăn mỡ sữa và mật, cho đến chừng nào biết bỏ điều dữ và chọn điều lành.

¹⁵He shall eat butter and honey when he knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

¹⁶Vả, trước khi con trẻ biết bỏ điều dữ chọn điều lành, thì nước của hai vua mà ngươi đương ghét sẽ bị bỏ hoang.

¹⁶For before the child knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor shall be forsaken.

¹⁷Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ giáng trên ngươi, dân ngươi, và nhà cho ngươi, bởi vua A-si-ri, những ngày mà từ ngày Ép-ra-im lìa bỏ Giu-đa chưa từng có giống như vậy.

¹⁷Yahweh will bring on you, on your people, and on your father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.

¹⁸Xảy ra trong ngày đó, Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ suýt mà gọi những ruồi ở cuối các sông Ê-díp-tô, và những ong ở xứ A-si-ri.

¹⁸It will happen in that day that Yahweh will whistle for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

¹⁹Hai giống đó sẽ đến đậu trong các nơi trũng hoang loạn, trong các lỗ nẻ vầng đá, trên rào gai cùng các đồng cỏ.

¹⁹They shall come, and shall all rest in the desolate valleys, in the clefts of the rocks, on all thorn hedges, and on all pastures.

²⁰Trong ngày đó Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ dùng dao cạo thuê tại bên kia sông, nghĩa là vua A-si-ri, mà cạo đầu cùng lông chơn, và bỏ cả râu nữa.

²⁰In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Assyria, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also consume the beard.

²¹Trong ngày đó mỗi người có thể nuôi một con bò cái tơ và hai con chiên,

²¹It shall happen in that day that a man shall keep alive a young cow, and two sheep;

²²bởi nó có sữa dư dật thì người sẽ ăn mỡ sữa; vì phàm ai sẽ còn sót lại giữa xứ, thì nuôi mình bằng mỡ sữa và mật.

²²and it shall happen, that because of the abundance of milk which they shall give he shall eat butter: for everyone will eat butter and honey that is left in the midst of the land.

²³Xảy ra trong ngày đó, phàm chỗ đất trồng được một ngàn gốc nho, đáng giá một ngàn siếc-lơ bạc, sẽ mọc đầy những gai gốc và chà chuôm.

²³It will happen in that day that every place where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silver shekels, shall be for briers and thorns.

²⁴Người ta sẽ đem cung tên đến đó, vì cả xứ chỉ là gai gốc và chà chuôm. vậy.

²⁴People will go there with arrows and with bow, because all the land will be briers and thorns.

²⁵Cũng không ai đến trên các gò là nơi mình đã cày cuốc nữa, vì sợ gai gốc và chà chuôm, nhưng sẽ cho bò ăn cỏ tại đó, và chiên giày đạp.

²⁵All the hills that were cultivated with the hoe, you shall not come there for fear of briers and thorns; but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheep.”
