¹Ôi! ước gì đầu tôi là suối nước, mắt tôi là nguồn lụy! hầu cho tôi vì những kẻ bị giết của con gái dân ta mà khóc suốt ngày đêm.

¹Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

²Ôi! ước gì tôi có một cái quán khách bộ hành trong đồng vắng! để tôi được bỏ dân ta mà đi xa khỏi họ; vì họ thảy điều là kẻ tà dâm, ấy là một bọn quỉ trá.

²Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

³Chúng nó giương lưỡi mình như cái cung, đặng phát lời dối trá ra. Chúng nó ở trong xứ là mạnh lớn, mà chẳng làm sự chơn thật; bởi chúng nó làm ác càng thêm ác, và chẳng nhìn biết ta, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.

³They bend their tongue, as their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don’t know me, says Yahweh.

⁴Ai nấy phải giữ gìn vì người lân cận mình, chớ tin cậy một người nào trong vòng anh em mình; vì mỗi người anh em sẽ lừa phỉnh anh em lắm, mỗi người lân cận đều đi dạo nói xấu.

⁴Take heed everyone of his neighbor, and don’t trust in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.

⁵Ai nấy gạt gẫm kẻ lân cận mình, chẳng nói sự chơn thật. Chúng nó luyện tập lưỡi mình mà nói dối, chăm chỉ làm điều ác.

⁵They will deceive everyone his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.

⁶Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Ngươi ăn ở giữa sự dối trá; ấy cũng vì cớ sự dối trá mà chúng nó chẳng khứng nhìn biết ta.

⁶Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, says Yahweh.

⁷Vậy nên Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân phán như vầy: Nầy, ta sẽ làm cho tan chảy và thử chúng nó; vì nếu chẳng vậy thì xử với con gái dân ta thể nào?

⁷Therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how should I deal with the daughter of my people?

⁸Lưỡi chúng nó là tên độc, hay buông lời dối trá. Ngoài miệng thì chúc bình an cho kẻ lân cận mình, mà trong lòng thì gài bẫy.

⁸Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceit: one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lays wait for him.

⁹Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Ta há chẳng thăm phạt chúng nó về mọi điều ấy sao? Thần ta há chẳng trả thù một nước dường ấy sao?

⁹Shall I not visit them for these things? says Yahweh; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

¹⁰Ta sẽ khóc lóc thở than về các núi, sẽ xướng bài ca sầu não về nội cỏ nơi đồng vắng, vì thảy đều bị đốt cháy, đến nỗi chẳng còn ai đi qua đó nữa. Tại đó chẳng còn nghe tiếng bầy súc vật, chim trời và loài thú đều trốn đi cả rồi.

¹⁰For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the pastures of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none passes through; neither can men hear the voice of the livestock; both the birds of the sky and the animals are fled, they are gone.

¹¹Ta sẽ khiến Giê-ru-sa-lem thành đồng đổ nát, nơi ở của chó rừng; sẽ làm cho các thành của Giu-đa ra hoang vu không người ở.

¹¹I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling place of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.

¹²Ai là người khôn ngoan đặng hiểu những sự nầy? và miệng Ðức Giê-hô-va nói cùng ai, để người báo tin? vì làm sao xứ nầy bị diệt bị cháy như đồng vắng, đến nỗi không ai qua lại?

¹²Who is the wise man, that may understand this? Who is he to whom the mouth of Yahweh has spoken, that he may declare it? Why is the land perished and burned up like a wilderness, so that none passes through?

¹³Ðức Giê-hô-va đáp rằng: Ấy là vì chúng nó bỏ luật pháp ta mà ta đã đặt cho; không vâng tiếng ta, và không bước theo.

¹³Yahweh says, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein,

¹⁴Nhưng chúng nó bước theo sự cứng cỏi của lòng mình, theo các thần Ba-anh mà tổ phụ mình đã dạy.

¹⁴but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baals, which their fathers taught them;

¹⁵Vậy nên, Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, phán như vầy: Nầy, ta sẽ cho dân nầy ăn ngải cứu, và cho uống mật đắng.

¹⁵therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

¹⁶Ta sẽ làm cho chúng nó tan lạc trong các dân tộc mà chúng nó và tổ phụ mình chưa từng biết; ta sẽ sai gươm đuổi theo, cho đến chừng nào đã diệt chúng nó.

¹⁶I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.

¹⁷Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân phán như vầy: Hãy lo gọi những đờn bà hay khóc mướn, cho chúng nó đến; hãy gọi những người đờn bà rất khéo, cho chúng nó đến.

¹⁷Thus says Yahweh of Armies, Consider, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the skillful women, that they may come:

¹⁸Chúng nó hãy vội vàng vì chúng ta rơi lụy, mí mắt chúng ta tràn nước ra!

¹⁸and let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.

¹⁹Vả, có tiếng phàn nàn nghe từ Si-ôn, rằng: Chúng ta bị hủy phá dường nào! Chúng ta bị xấu hổ lắm, vì chúng ta bỏ đất; vì họ đã phá đổ chỗ ở chúng ta!

¹⁹For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we ruined! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.

²⁰Hỡi các đờn bà, hãy nghe lời của Ðức Giê-hô-va, tai các ngươi hãy nghe lời miệng Ngài phán! Hãy dạy cho các con gái các ngươi bài ca vãn; mỗi người hãy dạy cho kẻ lân cận mình khóc than!

²⁰Yet hear the word of Yahweh, you women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth; and teach your daughters wailing, and everyone her neighbor lamentation.

²¹Vì sự chết đã lên vào cửa sổ chúng ta, đã sấn vào trong cung chúng ta, giết con cái tại ngoài đường, và kẻ trai trẻ giữa chợ.

²¹For death has come up into our windows, it is entered into our palaces; to cut off the children from outside, and the young men from the streets.

²²Ngươi hãy bảo rằng: Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Thây người ta sẽ ngã xuống như phân đổ đồng ruộng, và như nắm lúa đổ ra sau lưng con gặt; chẳng ai sẽ lượm chúng nó lại!

²²Speak, Thus says Yahweh, The dead bodies of men shall fall as dung on the open field, and as the handful after the harvester; and none shall gather them.

²³Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Người khôn chớ khoe sự khôn mình; người mạnh chớ khoe sự mạnh mình; người giàu chớ khoe sự giàu mình.

²³Thus says Yahweh, Don’t let the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, don’t let the rich man glory in his riches;

²⁴Nhưng kẻ nào khoe, hãy khoe về trí khôn mình biết ta là Ðức Giê-hô-va, là Ðấng làm ra sự thương xót, chánh trực, và công bình trên đất; vì ta ưa thích những sự ấy, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.

²⁴but let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, says Yahweh.

²⁵Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Nầy, ngày đến, bấy giờ ta sẽ phạt mọi kẻ chịu cắt bì mà lòng chưa cắt bì:

²⁵Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will punish all those who are circumcised in uncircumcision:

²⁶tức là Ê-díp-tô, Giu-đa, Ê-đôm, con cháu Am-môn, Mô-áp, và hết thảy những dân cạo tóc màng tang và ở nơi đồng vắng. Vì mọi dân tộc đều không cắt bì, còn cả nhà Y-sơ-ra-ên chẳng cắt bì trong lòng.

²⁶Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that have the corners of their hair cut off, who dwell in the wilderness; for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in heart.
