1Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.
1推羅王助大衛建造宮殿（撒下5:11~12）推羅王希蘭派使者來見大衛，給他送上香柏木、石匠和木匠，要為他建造宮殿。
2David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel’s sake.
2那時，大衛知道耶和華已經堅立他作王統治以色列，又為了以色列民的緣故，使他的國高舉。
3David took more wives at Jerusalem; and David became the father of more sons and daughters.
3大衛在耶路撒冷所生的兒子（撒下5:13~16）大衛在耶路撒冷又娶了多位妻子，並且生了很多兒女。
4These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
4以下這些就是他在耶路撒冷所生的孩子的名字：沙母亞、朔罷、拿單、所羅門、
5and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,
5益轄、以利書亞、以法列、
6and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
6挪迦、尼斐、雅非亞、
7and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
7以利沙瑪、以利雅大和以利法列。
8When the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them.
8大衛兩次戰勝非利士人（撒下5:17~25）非利士人聽見了大衛受膏作王統治以色列人，就全體上來搜尋大衛；大衛聽見了，就出來迎擊他們。
9Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.
9非利士人來到，侵進了利乏音谷。
10David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to him, “Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand.”
10大衛求問 神說：“我可以上去攻打非利士人嗎？你把他們交在我手裡嗎？”耶和華對他說：“你可以上去，我必把他們交在你的手裡。”
11So they came up to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there; and David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the breach of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
11非利士人上到巴力．毗拉心來，大衛在那裡擊敗了他們。大衛說：“ 神藉著我擊潰我的敵人，好像水沖破堤岸一般。”因此他們給那地方起名叫巴力．毗拉心。
12They left their gods there; and David gave commandment, and they were burned with fire.
12非利士人把他們的神像遺棄在那裡，大衛吩咐人用火把它們燒了。
13The Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley.
13非利士人又再入侵那山谷。
14David inquired again of God; and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come on them over against the mulberry trees.
14大衛又求問 神， 神對他說：“不可在後面追趕他們，要繞過他們，從桑林對面攻打他們。
15It shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”
15你一聽見桑林樹梢上有腳步的聲音，就要出戰，因為 神已經在你前面出去擊殺非利士人的軍隊了。”
16David did as God commanded him: and they struck the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.
16於是大衛照著 神所吩咐他的去作，他們攻擊非利士人的軍隊，從基遍起，一直攻打到基色。
17The fame of David went out into all lands; and Yahweh brought the fear of him on all nations.
17因此大衛的名聲傳遍各地，耶和華使萬國都懼怕他。
