¹Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.

²Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper room that was in Samaria, and was sick. So he sent messengers, and said to them, “Go, inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will recover of this sickness.”

²有一天，亞哈謝在撒瑪利亞，從樓上的窗戶掉下來，他就病了；於是他差派使者，對他們說：“你們去求問以革倫的神巴力．西卜，我這個病到底能否復原？”

³But the angel of Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and tell them, ‘Is it because there is no God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” in Israel, that you go to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron?

³但耶和華的使者對提斯比人以利亞說：“你動身上去迎著撒瑪利亞王的使者，對他們說：‘你們去求問以革倫的神巴力．西卜，是因為以色列中沒有　神嗎？

⁴Now therefore thus says Yahweh, “You shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.”’” Elijah departed.

⁴因此，耶和華這樣說：你必不能從你躺上去的那張床上下來，因為你必定死。’”於是以利亞去了。

⁵The messengers returned to him, and he said to them, “Why is it that you have returned?”

⁵眾使者回到亞哈謝那裡；他對他們說：“你們為甚麼回來呢？”

⁶They said to him, “A man came up to meet us, and said to us, ‘Go, return to the king who sent you, and tell him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel, that you send to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.’”’”

⁶他們對王說：“有一個人上來迎著我們，又對我們說：‘去吧，回到那差派你們的王那裡，對他說：耶和華這樣說：你派人去求問以革倫的神巴力．西卜，是因為以色列中沒有　神嗎？因此，你必不能從你躺上去的那張床上下來，因為你必定死。’”

⁷He said to them, “What kind of man was he who came up to meet you, and told you these words?”

⁷王對他們說：“那上來迎著你們，又對你們說這番話的是個怎樣的人？”

⁸They answered him, “He was a hairy man, and wearing a leather belt around his waist.” He said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite.”

⁸他們對王說：“那人穿著毛皮衣，腰間束上皮帶。”王說：“這人必是提斯比人以利亞。”

⁹Then the king sent a captain of fifty with his fifty to him. He went up to him; and behold, he was sitting on the top of the hill. He said to him, “Man of God, the king has said, ‘Come down!’”

⁹於是王差派一個五十夫長和他的五十名手下到以利亞那裡；那位五十夫長就上到以利亞那裡去。他看見以利亞正坐在山頂上，就對以利亞說：“神人哪！王吩咐你下來。”

¹⁰Elijah answered to the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from the sky, and consume you and your fifty!” Fire came down from the sky, and consumed him and his fifty.

¹⁰以利亞回答五十夫長說：“如果我是神人，願火從天降下，把你和你的五十名手下吞滅。”於是有火從天降下，吞滅了五十夫長和他的五十名手下。

¹¹Again he sent to him another captain of fifty and his fifty. He answered him, “Man of God, the king has said, ‘Come down quickly!’”

¹¹王再次派一個五十夫長和他的五十名手下到以利亞那裡去。那五十夫長對以利亞說：“神人哪！王這樣吩咐：‘你趕快下來。’”

¹²Elijah answered them, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from the sky, and consume you and your fifty!” The fire of God came down from the sky, and consumed him and his fifty.

¹²以利亞回答他們說：“如果我是神人，願火從天降下，把你和你的五十名手下吞滅。”於是　神的火從天降下，吞滅了五十夫長和他的五十名手下。

¹³Again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. The third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and begged him, and said to him, “Man of God, please let my life, and the life of these fifty your servants, be precious in your sight.

¹³王又派出第三名五十夫長和他的五十名手下；那五十夫長來到，就雙膝跪在以利亞面前，懇求他，對他說：“神人哪！願我的性命和這五十個僕人的性命在你眼中看為寶貴。

¹⁴Behold, fire came down from the sky, and consumed the two former captains of fifty with their fifties. But now let my life be precious in your sight.”

¹⁴看哪！曾經有火從天降下，吞滅了先前兩個五十夫長和他們各五十名手下；現在，願我的性命在你眼中看為寶貴。”

¹⁵The angel of Yahweh said to Elijah, “Go down with him. Don’t be afraid of him.” He arose, and went down with him to the king.

¹⁵耶和華的使者對以利亞說：“你和他下去吧，不要怕他。”於是以利亞起來，和他下山到王那裡去了。

¹⁶He said to him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.’”

¹⁶以利亞對亞哈謝說：“耶和華這樣說：‘你差派使者去求問以革倫的神巴力．西卜，是因為以色列中沒有　神可以求問嗎？因此，你必不能從你躺上去的那張床上下來，因為你必定死。’”

¹⁷So he died according to the word of Yahweh which Elijah had spoken. Jehoram began to reign in his place in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.

¹⁷亞哈謝逝世亞哈謝果然死了，正如耶和華藉以利亞所宣告的話。因為他沒有兒子，他的弟弟約蘭就接續他作王，那時是猶大王約沙法的兒子約蘭第二年。

¹⁸Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

¹⁸亞哈謝其餘所行的事蹟，不是都寫在以色列諸王的年代誌上嗎？
