1Then all the children of Israel went out, and the congregation was assembled as one man, from Dan even to Beersheba, with the land of Gilead, to Yahweh at Mizpah.
1以色列人討伐基比亞於是以色列眾人都出來，從但到別是巴，以及基列地的眾人，都在米斯巴耶和華面前聚集起來如同一人。
2The chiefs of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen who drew sword.
2全民的領袖，就是以色列眾支派的領袖，都站在 神子民的會中；拿刀的步兵共有四十萬人。
3(Now the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel had gone up to Mizpah.) The children of Israel said, “Tell us, how did this wickedness happen?”
3（以色列人上到米斯巴來，便雅憫人聽見了。）以色列人說：“這件惡事是怎樣發生的？你們說吧。”
4The Levite, the husband of the woman who was murdered, answered, “I came into Gibeah that belongs to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to lodge.
4那利未人，就是被害的婦人的丈夫，回答說：“我和我的妾到了便雅憫的基比亞，要在那裡住宿。
5The men of Gibeah rose against me, and surrounded the house by night. They thought to have slain me, and they forced my concubine, and she is dead.
5基比亞人民起來攻擊我，在夜間包圍我住的房子攻擊我，有意殺害我；他們把我的妾污辱致死。
6I took my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel; for they have committed lewdness and folly in Israel.
6我就把我的妾切成塊子，送到以色列的各地業，因為基比亞人在以色列中行了極羞恥的惡事。
7Behold, you children of Israel, all of you, give here your advice and counsel.”
7以色列人哪，你們都要說出你們的意見，也要在這裡提出你們的對策。”
8All the people arose as one man, saying, “None of us will go to his tent, neither will any of us turn to his house.
8於是眾人都起來如同一人，說：“我們當中誰都不回自己的帳棚，誰都不回自己的家。
9But now this is the thing which we will do to Gibeah: we will go up against it by lot;
9現在我們要這樣對待基比亞人：我們要照著所抽的籤上去攻打他們。
10and we will take ten men of one hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and one hundred of one thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to get food for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have worked in Israel.”
10我們要從以色列各支派中，每百人抽取十人，每千人抽取百人，每萬人抽取千人，好為人民運送糧食；等他們到了便雅憫的基比亞的時候，就可以照著他們在以色列中所行的一切羞恥的事懲罰他們。”
11So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.
11於是以色列眾人彼此聯合，如同一人，聚集起來攻擊那城。
12The tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, “What wickedness is this that is happen among you?
12以色列各支派打發人到便雅憫的各家去，說：“你們中間怎麼發生了這樣的惡事呢？
13Now therefore deliver up the men, the base fellows, who are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel.” But Benjamin would not listen to the voice of their brothers the children of Israel.
13現在你們要把那些人，基比亞的無賴之徒，交出來，我們好處死他們，從以色列中除掉這惡。”只是便雅憫人卻不肯聽從他們的兄弟以色列人的話。
14The children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities to Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.
14便雅憫人從各城出來聚集，往基比亞去，要與以色列人交戰。
15The children of Benjamin were numbered on that day out of the cities twenty-six thousand men who drew the sword, besides the inhabitants of Gibeah, who were numbered seven hundred chosen men.
15那時便雅憫人，從各城裡被數點的，共有二萬六千拿刀的，另外被數點的，還有基比亞的居民，共有七百精兵。
16Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men left-handed; everyone could sling stones at a hair-breadth, and not miss.
16在這些人中，還有七百精兵是善用左手的，個個都能用機弦拋石，毫髮不差。
17The men of Israel, besides Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men who drew sword: all these were men of war.
17除了便雅憫人以外，以色列人被數點的，共有四十萬拿刀的，個個都是戰士。
18The children of Israel arose, and went up to Bethel, and asked counsel of God; and they said, “Who shall go up for us first to battle against the children of Benjamin?” Yahweh said, “Judah first.”
18兩次進攻失敗以色列人就起來，上伯特利去求問 神，說：“我們之中誰應首先上去，與便雅憫人交戰呢？”耶和華說：“猶大應首先上去。”
19The children of Israel rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gibeah.
19以色列人早晨起來，對著基比亞安營。
20The men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin; and the men of Israel set the battle in array against them at Gibeah.
20以色列人出來，要與便雅憫人交戰；以色列人在基比亞面前列陣等待他們。
21The children of Benjamin came forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed down to the ground of the Israelites on that day twenty-two thousand men.
21便雅憫人從基比亞出來，那一天使二萬二千以色列人倒地身亡。
22The people, the men of Israel, encouraged themselves, and set the battle again in array in the place where they set themselves in array the first day.
22眾民，就是以色列人，都奮勇起來，又在頭一天列陣的地方列陣。
23The children of Israel went up and wept before Yahweh until evening; and they asked of Yahweh, saying, “Shall I again draw near to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother?” Yahweh said, “Go up against him.”
23事前，以色列人上伯特利去，在耶和華面前哀哭直到晚上，然後求問耶和華，說：“我們再去與我們的兄弟便雅憫人交戰，可以不可以？”耶和華說：“你們可以上去攻打他們。”
24The children of Israel came near against the children of Benjamin the second day.
24第二天，以色列人就前去攻打便雅憫人。
25Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and destroyed down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men; all these drew the sword.
25便雅憫人第二天也從基比亞出來，迎戰以色列人，又使一萬八千以色列人倒地身亡，都是拿刀的。
26Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came to Bethel, and wept, and sat there before Yahweh, and fasted that day until evening; and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before Yahweh.
26以色列眾人，就是全體人民，又上到伯特利，坐在耶和華面前哀哭，那日禁食直到晚上，然後在耶和華面前獻上燔祭和平安祭。
27The children of Israel asked of Yahweh (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,
27那時， 神的約櫃在那裡。
28and Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days), saying, “Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease?” Yahweh said, “Go up; for tomorrow I will deliver him into your hand.”
28那時，亞倫的孫子、以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈，侍立在約櫃前供職。以色列人求問耶和華，說：“我們應再出去與我們的兄弟便雅憫人交戰呢？還是休戰呢？”耶和華說：“你們應上去，因為明天我必把他們交在你們手中。”
29Israel set ambushes all around Gibeah.
29第三次進攻得勝以色列人在基比亞四周設下伏兵。
30The children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and set themselves in array against Gibeah, as at other times.
30第三天，以色列人又上去攻打便雅憫人，在基比亞前面列陣，像前兩次一樣。
31The children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to strike and kill of the people, as at other times, in the highways, of which one goes up to Bethel, and the other to Gibeah, in the field, about thirty men of Israel.
31便雅憫人也出來迎敵，他們被引出城外，在兩條大路上，一條通往伯特利，一條通往基比亞，像前兩次一樣，動手殺敵，在田間殺死以色列人約有三十個。
32The children of Benjamin said, “They are struck down before us, as at the first.” But the children of Israel said, “Let us flee, and draw them away from the city to the highways.”
32便雅憫人說：“他們仍像前一次一樣，敗在我們面前了。”以色列人卻說：“我們逃跑吧，引他們離開城市出到大路上來。”
33All the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and set themselves in array at Baal Tamar: and the ambushers of Israel broke forth out of their place, even out of Maareh Geba.
33以色列眾人都從自己的地方起來，在巴力．他瑪列陣；以色列的伏兵，從基比亞西邊埋伏的地方衝出來。
34There came over against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was severe; but they didn’t know that evil was close on them.
34全以色列中的精兵，有一萬人前來攻打基比亞，戰爭非常激烈；便雅憫人還不知道災禍快要臨到他們的身上了。
35Yahweh struck Benjamin before Israel; and the children of Israel destroyed of Benjamin that day twenty-five thousand one hundred men: all these drew the sword.
35耶和華在以色列人面前擊敗了便雅憫人；那天以色列人消滅便雅憫人，共二萬五千一百名，都是拿刀的。
36So the children of Benjamin saw that they were struck; for the men of Israel gave place to Benjamin, because they trusted the ambushers whom they had set against Gibeah.
36這樣，便雅憫人就看出自己被擊敗了。原來以色列人倚靠在基比亞前面設下的伏兵，就對便雅憫人詐敗。
37The ambushers hurried, and rushed on Gibeah; and the ambushers drew themselves along, and struck all the city with the edge of the sword.
37伏兵急忙衝入基比亞，用刀擊殺了全城的人。
38Now the appointed sign between the men of Israel and the ambushers was that they should make a great cloud of smoke rise up out of the city.
38以色列人與伏兵預先約定，就是從城裡放火，以煙氣上升為號。
39The men of Israel turned in the battle, and Benjamin began to strike and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons; for they said, “Surely they are struck down before us, as in the first battle.”
39以色列人在戰場上撤退的時候，便雅憫人就動手殺人，刺死以色列人約三十個，心裡說：“他們真的像頭一次戰陣一樣，在我們面前被擊敗了。”
40But when the cloud began to arise up out of the city in a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them; and behold, the whole of the city went up in smoke to the sky.
40當煙柱信號從城中上升的時候，便雅憫人就轉身觀看，只見全城煙火沖天。
41The men of Israel turned, and the men of Benjamin were dismayed; for they saw that evil had come on them.
41那時，以色列人又轉身回來，便雅憫人就非常驚慌，因為看見災禍臨到自己身上了。
42Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel to the way of the wilderness; but the battle followed hard after them; and those who came out of the cities destroyed them in its midst.
42他們在以色列人面前轉身，向曠野的路上逃走，戰爭卻緊隨著他們；那些從各城裡出來的人也在他們中間消滅他們。
43They surrounded the Benjamites, chased them, and trod them down at their resting place, as far as over against Gibeah toward the sunrise.
43以色列人包圍了便雅憫人，追趕他們，在他們歇息之地，直到基比亞對面日出之處，踐踏他們。
44There fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men; all these were men of valor.
44便雅憫人中倒斃的共有一萬八千人，全都是勇士。
45They turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon: and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men, and followed hard after them to Gidom, and struck of them two thousand men.
45其餘的人轉身，向著曠野逃跑，到了臨門的磐石那裡；以色列人在大路上除滅了他們五千人，追趕他們直到基頓，又擊殺了他們二千人。
46So that all who fell that day of Benjamin were twenty-five thousand men who drew the sword; all these were men of valor.
46所以那一天便雅憫人倒斃的，共有二萬五千人，都是拿刀的，全部是勇士。
47But six hundred men turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, and stayed in the rock of Rimmon four months.
47剩下的六百人轉身，向著曠野逃跑，到了臨門的磐石那裡，就在臨門的磐石那裡住了四個月。
48The men of Israel turned again on the children of Benjamin, and struck them with the edge of the sword, both the entire city, and the livestock, and all that they found: moreover all the cities which they found they set on fire.
48以色列人又回到便雅憫人那裡，把全城的人和牲畜，以及一切遇見的，都用刀殺盡；又把他們碰見的一切城市放火燒毀了。
