¹These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in the Arabah over against Suph, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

²It is eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea.

²从何烈山经过西珥山的路，到达加低斯．巴尼亚，共有十一天的路程。

³It happened in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke to the children of Israel, according to all that Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. had given him in commandment to them;

³出埃及以后第四十年十一月一日，摩西照着耶和华吩咐他一切关于以色列人的话，都告诉了他们。

⁴after he had struck Sihon the king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, who lived in Ashtaroth, at Edrei.

⁴当时，他已经击败了住在希实本的亚摩利人的王西宏，和住在亚斯他录与以得来的巴珊王噩。

⁵Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,

⁵摩西在约旦河东的摩押地，开始讲解这律法，说：

⁶“Yahweh our God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” spoke to us in Horeb, saying, You have lived long enough in this mountain:

⁶“耶和华我们的　神，在何烈山告诉我们：‘你们在这山上住够了；

⁷turn, and take your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites, and to all the places near there, in the Arabah, in the hill country, and in the lowland, and in the South, and by the seashore, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.

⁷现在你们要转回，起程到亚摩利人的山地去，到那些住在亚拉巴、山地、低地、南地、沿海一带、迦南人的地、黎巴嫩，直到大河，就是幼发拉底河一带的地方去。

⁸Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their seed after them.”

⁸看哪，我把这地摆在你面前，你们要进去，占领这地为业，就是耶和华向你们列祖亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓应许给他们和他们的后裔的地。’

⁹I spoke to you at that time, saying, “I am not able to bear you myself alone:

⁹选立智慧人为首领（出18:13-27）“那时，我曾经对你们说：‘你们的重担，我独自一人无法担当。

¹⁰Yahweh your God has multiplied you, and behold, you are this day as the stars of the sky for multitude.

¹⁰耶和华你们的　神使你们多起来；你们看，你们今日像天上的星那样多。

¹¹Yahweh, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times as many as you are, and bless you, as he has promised you!

¹¹愿耶和华你们列祖的　神，使你们比现在更多千倍，又照着他应许你们的话，赐福给你们。

¹²How can I myself alone bear your encumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?

¹²我独自一人怎能担得起你们的重担、责任和你们争讼的事呢？

¹³Take wise men of understanding and well known according to your tribes, and I will make them heads over you.”

¹³你们要按着支派选出一些有智慧、有见识、有经验的人，我就立他们作你们的首领。’

¹⁴You answered me, and said, “The thing which you have spoken is good to do.”

¹⁴你们回答我，说：‘你吩咐我们作的事很好。’

¹⁵So I took the heads of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties, and captains of tens, and officers, according to your tribes.

¹⁵我就选出你们众支派中的领袖，就是有智慧有经验的人；按着你们的支派，立他们作管理你们的首领，就是作千夫长、百夫长、五十夫长、十夫长和其他官长。

¹⁶I commanded your judges at that time, saying, “Hear cases between your brothers, and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the foreigner who is living with him.

¹⁶“那时，我吩咐你们的审判官，说：‘你们在兄弟中听讼，无论是兄弟彼此诉讼，或是与同居的外地人诉讼，都要按着公义审判。

¹⁷You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike; you shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.”

¹⁷审判的时候，不可偏袒人；无论贵贱尊卑，都要一样地听讼；不可怕人的情面，因为审判是属于　神的；如果你们遇见难断的案件，可以呈到我这里来，让我审断。’

¹⁸I commanded you at that time all the things which you should do.

¹⁸那时，我把你们当作的一切事，都吩咐了你们。

¹⁹We traveled from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw, by the way to the hill country of the Amorites, as Yahweh our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh Barnea.

¹⁹派人前往窥探迦南地（民13:1-24）“我们照着耶和华我们的　神吩咐我们的，从何烈山起行，走过你们所见那大而可怕的旷野，沿着到亚摩利人山地的路而行；后来到了加低斯．巴尼亚。

²⁰I said to you, “You have come to the hill country of the Amorites, which Yahweh our God gives to us.

²⁰我对你们说：‘你们已经到了亚摩利人的山地，就是耶和华我们的　神赐给我们的。

²¹Behold, Yahweh your God has set the land before you: go up, take possession, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has spoken to you; don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed.”

²¹看哪，耶和华你的　神已经把这地摆在你面前；你要照着耶和华你列祖的　神告诉你的上去，占领那地；不要害怕，也不要惊惶。’

²²You came near to me everyone of you, and said, “Let us send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.”

²²你们众人都走到我这里来，说：‘我们要先派些人去，替我们窥探那地，然后把我们上去该走哪一条路，该进哪些城，向我们回报。’

²³The thing pleased me well; and I took twelve men of you, one man for every tribe:

²³这话我很同意，就从你们中间选了十二个人，每支派一人。

²⁴and they turned and went up into the hill country, and came to the valley of Eshcol, and spied it out.

²⁴于是他们转身出发，上了山地，到了以实各谷，窥探那地。

²⁵They took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down to us, and brought us word again, and said, “It is a good land which Yahweh our God gives to us.”

²⁵他们手里拿着那地的果子，带下来到我们这里，并且向我们回报，说：‘耶和华我们的　神要赐给我们的地是美地。’

²⁶Yet you wouldn’t go up, but rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh your God:

²⁶众民缺乏信心（民13:25-33）“但你们不肯上去，竟违背了耶和华你们的　神的吩咐；

²⁷and you murmured in your tents, and said, “Because Yahweh hated us, he has brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

²⁷你们在帐幕里抱怨，说：‘耶和华因为恨我们，所以把我们从埃及地领出来，要把我们交在亚摩利人手中，消灭我们。

²⁸Where are we going up? our brothers have made our heart to melt, saying, ‘The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to the sky; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.’”

²⁸我们上哪里去呢？我们的兄弟使我们心灰意冷，说：那地的人比我们高大；他们的城邑又大又坚固，高耸入天；我们在那里还看见有亚衲族的人。’

²⁹Then I said to you, “Don’t dread, neither be afraid of them.

²⁹我就对你们说：‘不要惊恐，不要害怕他们。

³⁰Yahweh your God who goes before you, he will fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes,

³⁰耶和华你们的　神，就是那走在你们前面的那一位，他必为你们作战，好像他在埃及，在你们面前，为你们所行的一切一样，

³¹and in the wilderness, where you have seen how that Yahweh your God bore you, as a man does bear his son, in all the way that you went, until you came to this place.”

³¹并且在旷野里，你们也看见了耶和华你们的　神，怎样在你们所行的一切路上，背负你们，好像人背负自己的儿子一样，直到你们来到了这地方。’

³²Yet in this thing you didn’t believe Yahweh your God,

³²虽然这样，你们还是不信耶和华你们的　神；

³³who went before you in the way, to seek you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to show you by what way you should go, and in the cloud by day.

³³他在路上走在你们前面，为你们寻找安营的地方；夜间用火柱，日间用云彩，指示你们当走的路。

³⁴Yahweh heard the voice of your words, and was angry, and swore, saying,

³⁴众民的惩罚（民14:20-45）“耶和华听见了你们说话的声音，就恼怒，起誓说：

³⁵“Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land, which I swore to give to your fathers,

³⁵‘这个邪恶世代的人，连一个也不能看见我起誓应许赐给他们列祖的美地；

³⁶except Caleb the son of Jephunneh: he shall see it; and to him will I give the land that he has trodden on, and to his children, because he has wholly followed Yahweh.”

³⁶只有耶孚尼的儿子迦勒可以看见；并且我要把他踏过的地赐给他和他的子孙，因为他专心跟从了我耶和华。’

³⁷Also Yahweh was angry with me for your sakes, saying, “You also shall not go in there:

³⁷因为你们的缘故，耶和华也向我发怒，说：‘你也不能进入那地；

³⁸Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there: encourage you him; for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

³⁸但是站在你面前侍候你的嫩的儿子约书亚，他可以进到那里去；你要鼓励他，因为他要使以色列人承受那地为业。

³⁹Moreover your little ones, whom you said should be a prey, and your children, who this day have no knowledge of good or evil, they shall go in there, and to them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

³⁹还有你们的小孩子，你们说要被掳掠的，和你们的儿女，就是今天还不知道善恶的，他们都要进入那地；我要把那地赐给他们，他们要占领那地。

⁴⁰But as for you, turn, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds .”

⁴⁰至于你们，你们要转回，经往红海的路，起程到旷野里去。’

⁴¹Then you answered and said to me, “We have sinned against Yahweh, we will go up and fight, according to all that Yahweh our God commanded us.” Every man of you put on his weapons of war, and presumed to go up into the hill country.

⁴¹“那时你们回答我，说：‘我们得罪了耶和华；现在我们愿意照着耶和华我们　神的一切吩咐，上去作战。’于是你们都预备了兵器，轻率地上山去了。

⁴²Yahweh said to me, “Tell them, ‘Don’t go up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest you be struck before your enemies.’”

⁴²耶和华对我说：‘你要对他们说：“你们不要上去，也不要作战，因为我不在你们中间，免得你们在仇敌面前被击败。”’

⁴³So I spoke to you, and you didn’t listen; but you rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh, and were presumptuous, and went up into the hill country.

⁴³我就告诉你们，你们却不听从，竟违背耶和华的吩咐，擅自上山去了。

⁴⁴The Amorites, who lived in that hill country, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and beat you down in Seir, even to Hormah.

⁴⁴住在那山上的亚摩利人，就出来攻击你们，好像蜂群一样追赶你们，在西珥击杀你们，直到何珥玛。

⁴⁵You returned and wept before Yahweh; but Yahweh didn’t listen to your voice, nor gave ear to you.

⁴⁵你们就回来，在耶和华面前哭，但耶和华不听你们的声音，也不向你们侧耳。

⁴⁶So you stayed in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you remained.

⁴⁶于是你们在加低斯住了许多日子。”
