2On the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
2第七日， 神完成了他所作的工；在第七日 神歇了他所作的一切工。
3God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work which he had created and made.
3 神赐福第七日，把它分别为圣，因为在这一日， 神停了他一切所创造的工，歇息了。
4This is the history of the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. God made the earth and the heavens.
4创造男人并设置伊甸园这是创造天地的起源：耶和华 神造天地的时候，
5No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Yahweh God had not caused it to rain on the earth. There was not a man to till the ground,
5原野上还没有树木，田间的蔬菜还没有长起来，因为耶和华 神还没有降雨在地上，也没有人耕种土地；
6but a mist went up from the earth, and watered the whole surface of the ground.
6不过有雾气从地面上升，滋润全地。
7Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
7耶和华 神用地上的尘土造成人形，把生气吹进他的鼻孔里，那人就成了有生命的活人，名叫亚当。
8Yahweh God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.
8耶和华 神在东方的伊甸，栽了一个园子，把他所造的人放在那里。
9Out of the ground Yahweh God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the middle of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
9耶和华 神使各样的树从地上长起来，能悦人的眼目，也好作食物。园子中间又有生命树，和知善恶树。
10A river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became four heads.
10有一条河从伊甸流出来，灌溉那园子；从那里分支，成了四道河的源头。
11The name of the first is Pishon: this is the one which flows through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
11第一道河名叫比逊，就是环绕哈腓拉全地的，在那里有金子；
12and the gold of that land is good. There is aromatic resin and the onyx stone.
12那地的金子是好的；在那里也有红玉和玛瑙。
13The name of the second river is Gihon: the same river that flows through the whole land of Cush.
13第二道河名叫基训，就是环绕古实全地的。
14The name of the third river is Hiddekel: this is the one which flows in front of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.
14第三道河名叫底格里斯河（“底格里斯河”原文作“希底结”），就是流向亚述东边的。第四道河就是幼发拉底河（“幼发拉底河”原文作“伯拉河”）。
15Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
15耶和华 神把那人安置在伊甸园里，叫他耕种和看守那园子。
16Yahweh God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;
16耶和华 神吩咐那人说：“园中各样树上的果子，你都可以吃；
17but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it; for in the day that you eat of it you will surely die.”
17只是那知善恶树的果子，你不可吃；因为你吃的时候，你必要死。”
18Yahweh God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”
18创造女人并建立婚姻耶和华 神说：“那人独居不好，我要为他造个和他相配的帮手。”
19Out of the ground Yahweh God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name.
19耶和华 神用泥土造了野地的各样野兽，和空中的各样飞鸟，把它们都带到那人面前，看他给它们叫什么名字；那人怎样叫各样有生命的活物，那就是它的名字。
20The man gave names to all livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field; but for man there was not found a helper suitable for him.
20那人就给各样牲畜、空中的雀鸟，和野地的各样走兽起了名字；只是那人没有遇见一个和他相配的帮手。
21Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.
21耶和华 神使那人沉睡。他熟睡的时候，耶和华 神取了他的一根肋骨，又使肉在原处复合。
22He made the rib, which Yahweh God had taken from the man, into a woman, and brought her to the man.
22然后，耶和华 神用从那人身上所取的肋骨，造了一个女人，带她到那人面前。
23The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of Man.”
23那人说：“这是我骨中的骨，肉中的肉；她当称为女人，因她是从男人身上取出来的。”
24Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.
24因此人要离开父母，和妻子连合，二人成为一体。
25They were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
25那时，夫妻二人赤身露体，彼此都不觉得羞耻。
