¹Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

¹ከዚያ ወዲያ ኢየሱስ ከዲያብሎስ ይፈተን ዘንድ መንፈስ ወደ ምድረ በዳ ወሰደው፥

²When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward.

²አርባ ቀንና አርባ ሌሊትም ከጦመ በኋላ ተራበ።

³The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

³ፈታኝም ቀርቦ። የእግዚአብሔር ልጅ ከሆንህ፥ እነዚህ ድንጋዮች እንጀራ እንዲሆኑ በል አለው።

⁴But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’” Deuteronomy 8:3

⁴እርሱም መልሶ። ሰው ከእግዚአብሔር አፍ በሚወጣ ቃል ሁሉ እንጂ በእንጀራ ብቻ አይኖርም ተብሎ ተጽፎአል አለው።

⁵Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple,

⁵ከዚህ በኋላ ዲያቢሎስ ወደ ቅድስት ከተማ ወሰደውና እርሱን በመቅደስ ጫፍ ላይ አቁሞ።

⁶and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, ‘He will put his angels in charge of you.’ and, ‘On their hands they will bear you up, so that you don’t dash your foot against a stone.’” Psalm 91:11-12

⁶መላእክቱን ስለ አንተ ያዝልሃል እግርህንም በድንጋይ ከቶ እንዳትሰናከል በእጃቸው ያነሡሃል ተብሎ ተጽፎአልና የእግዚአብሔር ልጅስ ከሆንህ፥ ወደ ታች ራስህን ወርውር አለው።

⁷Jesus said to him, “Again, it is written, ‘You shall not test the Lord, your God.’” Deuteronomy 6:16

⁷ኢየሱስም። ጌታን አምላክህን አትፈታተነው ተብሎ ደግሞ ተጽፎአል አለው።

⁸Again, the devil took him to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory.

⁸ደግሞ ዲያቢሎስ እጅግ ረጅም ወደ ሆነ ተራራ ወሰደው፥ የዓለምንም መንግሥታት ሁሉ ክብራቸውንም አሳይቶ።

⁹He said to him, “I will give you all of these things, if you will fall down and worship me.”

⁹ወድቀህ ብትሰግድልኝ ይህን ሁሉ እሰጥሃለሁ አለው።

¹⁰Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, TR and NU read “Go away” instead of “Get behind me” Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’” Deuteronomy 6:13

¹⁰ያን ጊዜ ኢየሱስ። ሂድ፥ አንተ ሰይጣን ለጌታህ ለአምላክህ ስገድ እርሱንም ብቻ አምልክ ተብሎ ተጽፎአልና አለው።

¹¹Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.

¹¹ያን ጊዜ ዲያቢሎስ ተወው፥ እነሆም፥ መላእክት ቀርበው ያገለግሉት ነበር።

¹²Now when Jesus heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee.

¹²ኢየሱስም ዮሐንስ አልፎ እንደ ተሰጠ በሰማ ጊዜ ወደ ገሊላ ፈቀቅ ብሎ ሄደ።

¹³Leaving Nazareth, he came and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,

¹³ናዝሬትንም ትቶ በዛብሎንና በንፍታሌም አገር በባሕር አጠገብ ወደ አለችው ወደ ቅፍርናሆም መጥቶ ኖረ።

¹⁴that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,

¹⁴በነቢዩም በኢሳይያስ። የዛብሎን ምድርና የንፍታሌም ምድር፥ የባሕር መንገድ፥ በዮርዳኖስ ማዶ፥ የአሕዛብ ገሊላ፤ በጨለማ የተቀመጠው ሕዝብ ታላቅ ብርሃን አየ፥ በሞት አገርና ጥላ ለተቀመጡትም ብርሃን ወጣላቸው

¹⁵“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,

¹⁷የተባለው ይፈጸም ዘንድ ይህ ሆነ። ከዚያ ዘመን ጀምሮ ኢየሱስ። መንግሥተ ሰማያት ቀርባለችና ንስሐ ግቡ እያለ ይሰብክ ጀመር።

¹⁶the people who sat in darkness saw a great light, to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, to them light has dawned.” Isaiah 9:1-2

¹⁸በገሊላ ባሕር አጠገብ ሲመላለስም ሁለት ወንድማማች ጴጥሮስ የሚሉትን ስምዖንን ወንድሙንም እንድርያስን መረባቸውን ወደ ባሕር ሲጥሉ አየ፥ ዓሣ አጥማጆች ነበሩና።

¹⁷From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, “Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”

¹⁹እርሱም። በኋላዬ ኑና ሰዎችን አጥማጆች እንድትሆኑ አደርጋችኋለሁ አላቸው።

¹⁸Walking by the sea of Galilee, he TR reads “Jesus” instead of “he” saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

²⁰ወዲያውም መረባቸውን ትተው ተከተሉት።

¹⁹He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.”

²¹ከዚያም እልፍ ብሎ ሌሎችን ሁለት ወንድማማች የዘብዴዎስን ልጅ ያዕቆብን ወንድሙንም ዮሐንስን ከአባታቸው ከዘብዴዎስ ጋር በታንኳ መረባቸውን ሲያበጁ አየ፤ ጠራቸውም።

²⁰They immediately left their nets and followed him.

²²እነርሱም ወዲያው ታንኳይቱንና አባታቸውን ትተው ተከተሉት።

²¹Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them.

²³ኢየሱስም በምኩራቦቻቸው እያስተማረ የመንግሥትንም ወንጌል እየሰበከ በሕዝብም ያለውን ደዌና ሕማም ሁሉ እየፈወሰ በገሊላ ሁሉ ይዞር ነበር።

²²They immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.

²⁴ዝናውም ወደ ሶርያ ሁሉ ወጣ፤ በልዩ ልዩ ደዌና ሥቃይም ተይዘው የታመሙትን ሁሉ አጋንንትም ያደሩባቸውን በጨረቃም የሚነሣባቸውን ሽባዎችንም ወደ እርሱ አመጡ፥ ፈወሳቸውም።

²³Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.

²⁵ከገሊላም ከአሥሩ ከተማም ከኢየሩሳሌምም ከይሁዳም ከዮርዳኖስም ማዶ ብዙ ሕዝብ ተከተሉት።

²⁴The report about him went out into all Syria. They brought to him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, possessed with demons, epileptics, and paralytics; and he healed them.

²⁵Great multitudes from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and from beyond the Jordan followed him.
