¹Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples,

¹ईसू फिन आपन चेलन अउर भीड़ स कहेस।

²saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sat on Moses’ seat.

²उ कहेस, “धरम सास्तिरियन अउर फरीसियन मूसा क व्यवस्था क अरथ बतावइ क हकदार अहइँ।

³ All things therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do, but don’t do their works; for they say, and don’t do.

³एह बरे जउन कछू उ सबइ कहइँ ओह प चलत रहा अउर ओनका मानके करत रहा। मइँ इ कहत हउँ काहेकि उ पचे बस कहत रहत हीं मुला करतेन नाहीं।

⁴ For they bind heavy burdens that are grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not lift a finger to help them.

⁴उ पचे मनई क काँधे प एतना बोझा लादि देत हीं कि उ सबइ ओका उठाइके चल न सकइँ अउर लोगन्प दबाव डारत हीं कि ओका लइके चलइँ। मुला उ सबइ खुद ओहमाँ स कउनो प भी चलइ बरे आपन अंगुरी तलक नाहीं हिलउतेन।

⁵ But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries phylacteries (tefillin in Hebrew) are small leather pouches that some Jewish men wear on their forehead and arm in prayer. They are used to carry a small scroll with some Scripture in it. See Deuteronomy 6:8. broad, enlarge the fringes or, tassels of their garments,

⁵“उ सबइ नीक काम यह बरे करत हीं कि लोग ओनका लखइँ। असिल मँ उ सबइ आपन ताबीज अउर पोसाक क झलरे क यह बरे बड़ा स बड़कवा करत रहत हीं कि लोग ओनका धर्मात्मा समझइँ।

⁶ and love the place of honor at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues,

⁶उ सबइ जेवनार मँ सबते जिआदा खास जगह पावा चाहत हीं। आराधनालयन मँ ओनका प्रमुख आसन चाही।

⁷ the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi, Rabbi’ by men.

⁷बजारे मँ उ पचे मान क साथ पैलगी करावा चाहत ही। अउ चाहत हीं कि लोग ओनका ‘गुरु’ कहिके पुकारइँ।

⁸ But don’t you be called ‘Rabbi,’ for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers.

⁸“मुला तू पचे मनइयन स आपन क ‘गुरु’ जिन कहवावा काहेकि तोहार सच्चा गुरु तउ बस एक अहइ। अउर तू सबइ सिरिफ भाई बहिन अहा।

⁹ Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven.

⁹धरती प मनइयन क आपन मँ स कउनो क भी ‘पिता’ जिन कहइ द्या। काहेकि तोहार ‘पिता’ तउ बस एक ही अहइ, अउ उ सरगे मँ बा।

¹⁰ Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ.

¹⁰न ही तू मनइयन क आपन बरे ‘स्वामी’ कहइ द्या काहेकि तोहार स्वामी तउ बस एक ठु बाटइ अउ उ अहइ मसीह।

¹¹ But he who is greatest among you will be your servant.

¹¹तोहमाँ सब ते बड़कवा मनई उहइ होई जउन तोहार नउकर बनी।

¹² Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

¹²जउन आपन खुद क ऊँचा उठाई ओका नंवई क होई। अउर जउन आपन खुद नवाई ओका ऊँचा उठाइ जाइ।

¹³ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

¹³“हे कपटी धरम सास्तिरियो अउर फरीसियो! तोहका धिक्कार अहइ। तू सबइ सरगे क राज्य क दुआर ढाँपि दिहा ह। न तउ तू पचे ओहमाँ घुसि पउब्या अउर न ही ओनका जाइ देब्या जउन घुसइ बरे जतन करत हीं।

¹⁴ “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men; for you don’t enter in yourselves, neither do you allow those who are entering in to enter. Some Greek manuscripts reverse the order of verses 13 and 14, and some omit verse 13, numbering verse 14 as 13.

¹⁴अरे कपटा धरम सास्तिरियन अउ फरीसियन तू पचे विधवा क धन दौलत हड़पत ह। देखाँवा बरे बड़ी बड़ी पराथना करत ह। एकरे बरे तोहका करर्ी सजा मिली।

¹⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much of a son of Gehenna or, Hell as yourselves.

¹⁵“अरे कपटी धरम सास्तिरियो अउर फरीसियो! तोहका धिक्कार अहइ। तू कउनो क आपन मत मँ लइ आवइ बरे धरती अउर समुद्दर पार कइ जात ह। अउ उ तोहरे नेम धरम मँ आइ जात ह तउ तू ओका आपन स भी दुइ गुना नरक क काबिल बनाइ देत ह।

¹⁶ “Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’

¹⁶“अरे कपटी धरम सास्तिरियो अउर फरीसियो! तोहका धिक्कार अहइ। तोहका धिक्कार अहइ जउन कहत ह, ‘जदि कउनो मन्दिर क सपथ खात ह तउ ओका सपथ क खाब जरूरी नाहीं मुला अगर कउनो मन्दिरे क सोने सपथ खात ह तउ ओका सपथ क मानब जरूरी अहइ!’

¹⁷ You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold?

¹⁷अरे आँधर मूर्ख लोगो! बड़का कउन अहइ? मन्दिर क सोना या उ मन्दिर जउन उ सोना क पवित्तर बनएस।

¹⁸ ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obligated?’

¹⁸तू सबइ इ भी कहत ह, ‘जदि कउनो वेदी क सपथ खात ह तउ कछू नाहीं, मुला जदि कउनो वेदी प धरा चढ़ावा क सपथ खात ह तउ आपन सपथ स बँधा भवा अहइ।’

¹⁹ You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?

¹⁹अरे आँधर लोगो! कउन बड़कवा अहइ? वेदी प धरा चढ़ावा या उ वेदी जेसे उ चढ़ावा पवित्तर बनत ह

²⁰ He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it, and by everything on it.

²⁰यह बरे जदि कउनो वेदी क सपथ लेत ह तउ उ वेदी क साथे वेदी प जउन धरा बाटइ, उ सबन क सपथ खात ह।

²¹ He who swears by the temple, swears by it, and by him who was living NU reads “lives” in it.

²¹उ जउन मन्दिर अहइ, ओकर भी सपथ लेत ह उ मंदिर क संग जउन मंदिर क भितरे बा, ओकर भी सपथ खात ह।

²² He who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it.

²²अउर उ जउन सरगे क सपथ खात ह, उ परमेस्सर क सिंहासने क संग जउन उ सिंहासने प बिराजत बा ओकर भी सपथ खात ह।

²³ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, cumin is an aromatic seed from Cuminum cyminum, resembling caraway in flavor and appearance. It is used as a spice. and have left undone the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith. But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.

²³“अरे कपटी धरम सास्तिरियो अउर फरीसियो! तोहका धिक्कार अहइ। तोहरे लगे जउन कछू अहइ, तू ओकर दसवाँ, हींसा, हीयाँ तलक कि आपन पुदीना, सौंफ अउर जीरा तक क दसवाँ हींसा परमेस्सर क देत ह। फिन भी तू व्यवस्था क खास बातन, निआव, दाया अउर बिसवास क धकियाइ दिहा। तोहका इ चाहत रहा कि ओन बातन क बगैर छोड़े भए इन बातन क करत जात्या।

²⁴ You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!

²⁴अरे आँधर अगुवा लोगो! तू आपन पिअइ क पानी स मच्छर तउ छान लेत ह पर ऊँटे क लील जात ह।

²⁵ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness. TR reads “self-indulgence” instead of “unrighteousness”

²⁵“अरे कपटी धरम सास्तिरियो अउ फरीसियो! तोहका धिक्कार अहइ। तू आपन खोरा अउर टाठी बाहेर स धोइके फर्छइ करत ह पर ओकरे भितरे तू जउन चाल चपेट या आपन बरे रियायत मँ पाया ह, भरा बाटइ।

²⁶ You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that its outside may become clean also.

²⁶अरे आँधर फरीसियो! पहिले आपन खोरा क भितरे स माँज ल्या जेसे भितरे क साथ साथ उ बाहेर स भी चमकइ लगाइ।

²⁷ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.

²⁷“अरे कपटी धरम सास्तिरियो अउर फरीसियो! तोहका धिक्कार अहइ। तू लीपी पोती भई समाधि क नाईं अहा जउन बाहेर स तउ सुन्नर देखाति अहइ मुला भितरे स मरे हुअन क हाड़ अउर हर किसिम क मलिनता स ठूँसी रहत ह।

²⁸ Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

²⁸अइसे ही बाहेर स तउ धर्मी देखॉइ देत ह मुला भितरे स चाल चपेट अउर अनभले स बुरा अहा।

²⁹ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and decorate the tombs of the righteous,

²⁹“अरे कपटी धरमसास्तिरियो अउ फरीसियो! तोहका धिक्कार अहइ। तू नबियन क बरे मकबरा बनावत ह अउर धर्मीयन क कब्र क सिंगार करत ह।

³⁰ and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn’t have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’

³⁰अउ कहत बाट्या, ‘जदि तू आपन पूर्वजन क समइ मँ पइदा होत्या तउ नबियन क मरवावइ मँ ओनकइ साथ न देत्या।’

³¹ Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets.

³¹अइसे प तू खुद ही साच्छी देत अहा, कि तू मानत बाट्या कि तू ओनकइ बाल-बच्चा अहा जउन नबियन क हत्यारन रहेन।

³² Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.

³²तउ तू जउन तोहार पुरखन सुरु करेन, ओका पूरा कइ द्या।

³³ You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the judgment of Gehenna or, Hell ?

³³“अरे कीरा अउर नाग स संतान। तू सबइ कइसे सोच लिहा कि तू नरक भोगइ स छूट जाब्या।

³⁴ Therefore behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city;

³⁴यह बरे मइँ तोहका बतावत हउँ कि मइँ तोहरे लगे नबियन, बुद्धिमानन अउर गुरुअन क पठवत हउँ। तू पचे ओनमाँ स बहोतन क मार डउब्या अउर बहोतन क क्रूसे प चढ़उब्या। कछू मनइयन क तू सबइ आपन आराधनालयन मँ कोड़न स पिटवउब्या अउर एक सहर स दूसर सहरे ताईं ओनकइ पाछा करत खदरेब्या।

³⁵ that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the sanctuary and the altar.

³⁵आखिर निरीह हाबिल स लइके बिरिक्याह क बेटवा जकरयाह ताईं जेका तू मन्दिरे क गरभ घर अउर वेदी क बीच मारि डाए रह्या हर धर्मी मनई क कतल क सजा तोह प होई।

³⁶ Most certainly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.

³⁶मइँ तोहसे सच कहत हउँ कि इ सब कछू बरे इ पीढ़ी क मनइयन क सजा भोगे होई।

³⁷ “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!

³⁷“यरूसलेम, ओ यरूसलेम! तू उ अहा जउन नबियन क कतल करत ह अउर परमेस्सर क पठए गए दूतन क पाथर मारत ह। मइँ केतनी दाईं चाह्यो ह कि जइसे कउनो मुर्गी आपन चूजन क आपन पंखा तरे बटोर लेत ह वइसे ही तोहरे गदेलन क बटोर लेउँ। मुला तू पचन नाहीं चाह्या।

³⁸ Behold, your house is left to you desolate.

³⁸तोहार घर समूचइ उजड़ जाई।

³⁹ For I tell you, you will not see me from now on, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’” Psalm 118:26

³⁹मइँ तोहका सच बतावत हउँ तू मोका तब ताईं फिन नाहीं देखब्या जब ताईं तू नाहीं कहब्या, ‘धन्य अहइ उ जउन पर्भू क नाउँ मँ आवत ह।’
