¹Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him.

¹ईसू जब भारी भीड़ देखेस उ एक पहाड़े प चला गवा। हुवाँ उ बैठि गवा अउर ओकर चेलन ओकरे नगिचे आएन।

²He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,

²तबहिं ईसू उपदेस देत भवा कहेस:

³ “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Isaiah 57:15; 66:2

³“धन्य अहइँ उ पचे जउन दीन अहइँ, काहेकि सरगे क राज्य अहइ ओनके बरे।

⁴ Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Isaiah 61:2; 66:10,13

⁴धन्य अहइँ उ सबइ जउन सोक करत हीं काहेकि परमेस्सर ओनका धीरज बँधावत ह।

⁵ Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. or, land. Psalm 37:11

⁵धन्य अहइँ उ सबइ जउन नम्र अहइँ काहेकि इ धरती ओनही क अहइ।

⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

⁶धन्य अहइँ उ सबइ जउन नीति क बरे भूखा अउर पियासा जउन रहत ही। काहेकि परमेस्सर ओनका संतोस देइ, अउर तृप्ति देइ।

⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

⁷धन्य अहइँ जउन दयालु अहइँ काहेकि ओन पइ अकास स दया बरसी।

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

⁸धन्य अहइँ जउन हिरदय स सुद्ध अहइँ काहेकि उ सबइ परमेस्सर क दरसन करिहीं।

⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.

⁹धन्य अहइँ जउन सान्ति बरे काम काज करत हीं काहेकि उ सबइ परमेस्सर क पूत कहा जइहीं।

¹⁰ Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

¹⁰धन्य अहइँ जउन धर्म क कारण सतावा जात हीं काहेकि सरगे क राज्य ओनही क अहइ।

¹¹ “Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

¹¹“अउर तू पचे धन्य अहा काहेकि जब लोग तोहका पचन्क बेज्जत करइँ, तोहका पचन्क सतावइँ अउर मोरे बरे तोहरे खिलाफ सब प्रकार क झूठी बातन कहइँ बस एह बरे तू सबइ मोर मनवइया अहा।

¹² Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

¹²तब तू सबइ खुस रह्या, आनन्द मँ रह्या, काहेकि सरगे मँ तोहका पचन्क एकरे बरे अच्छा होई। इ वइसे ही बाटइ जइसे तोहरे पहिले क नबियन क मनइयन सताएन ह।

¹³ “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

¹³“तू सबइ समुच्चइ मानवता बरे नमक अहा। मुला जदि नोन नोनखार न होइ तउ ओका फिन नोन कइसे बनाइ जाइ सकत ह। उ फिन कउनो कामे क न रही। सिरिफ एह बरे कि ओका मनई क गोड़वा तले फेंक दीन्ह जाइ।

¹⁴ You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.

¹⁴“तू संसार क प्रकास अहा। एक ठु अइसा सहर जउन पहाड़े क चोटी प बसा अहइ, उ छिपाए स छिप नाहीं सकत।

¹⁵ Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.

¹⁵लोग दिया बारि के ओका बाल्टी तले नाहीं रखतेन मुला ओका डीबट प धइ देत हीं। अउर उ घरे क सब मनइयन क प्रकास देत ह।

¹⁶ Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

¹⁶मनई क समन्वा तोहार प्रकास अइसा चमकइ कि उ पचे तोहरे नीक कामन्क निहारइँ अउर सरगे मँ बइठा भवा तोहरे परमपिता महिमा बखानइ।”

¹⁷ “Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.

¹⁷“इ जिन सोचा कि मइँ मूसा क व्यवस्था या नबियन क लिखा भवा क नस्ट करइ आइ हउँ। मइँ ओन सबन्क नस्ट करइ नाहीं आइ हउँ मुला ओनके पूरा पूरा अरथ क समझावइ आइ अहउँ।

¹⁸ For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter literally, iota or one tiny pen stroke or, serif shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished.

¹⁸मइँ तोहसे सच कहत हउँ कि जब ताईं। इ धरती अउर अकास नस्ट नाहीं होइ जातेन, व्यवस्था क एक एक सब्द अउर एक एक अच्छर बना रही, उ तब ताईं बना रही जब ताईं उ पूरा नाहीं होइ जात।

¹⁹ Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

¹⁹एह बरे जउन एन हुकुमन स इ छोटवार स छोटवार हुकुमन क तोड़त ह अउर लोगन्क वइसा ही करइ सिखावत ह, उ सरगे क राज्य मँ कउनो का बड़कई न पाई। मुला जउन ओह पइ चलत ह अउ दूसरन मनइनयन क ओनपइ चलइ क उपदेस देत ह, उ सरगे क राज्य मँ बड़क्का समुझा जाई।

²⁰ For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

²⁰मइँ तोहसे सच कहत हउँ कि जब ताईं तू पचे धरमसास्तिरयन अउर फरीसियन क धरम मानइ स अगवा जिन जा, कि तू सरगे क राज्य मँ घुसइ न पउब्या।

²¹ “You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ Exodus 20:13 and ‘Whoever shall murder shall be in danger of the judgment.’

²¹“तू पचे सुन चुक्या ह कि हमरे पूर्वजन स कहा गवा रहा, ‘हत्या जिन करा अउर जदि कउनो हत्या करत ह तउ ओका अदालत मँ जवाब दिहे होई।’

²² But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause NU omits “without a cause”. shall be in danger of the judgment; and whoever shall say to his brother, ‘Raca “Raca” is an Aramaic insult, related to the word for “empty” and conveying the idea of empty-headedness. !’ shall be in danger of the council; and whoever shall say, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of the fire of Gehenna. or, Hell

²²मुला मइँ तोहसे कहत हउँ कि जउन मनई आपन भाई प किरोध करी, ओहका भी अदालत मँ एकरे बरे जवाब दिहे होई। अउर जउन आपन भाई क बेज्जत करी ओका सबते ऊँच अदालत मँ जवाब दिहे होई। जदि कउनो आपन भाई स कहइ, ‘अरे जाहिल, मूर्ख तउ नरके क आगी क बीच ओह पइ एका जवाब दिहे होई।

²³ “If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,

²³“एह बरे जदि तू वेदी प आपन भेंट चढ़ावत ह अउर हुवाँ तोहका याद आइ जाइ कि तोहरे मन मँ तोहरे भाई खातिर कउनो खिलाफ बात बाटइ

²⁴ leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

²⁴तउ तू उपासना भेंट क वेदी के सामने छाँड़ि द्या अउर पहिले जाइके आपन भाई स सुलह कइ ल्या अउर फिन आइके भेंट चढ़ावा।

²⁵ Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him in the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.

²⁵“जब ताईं तू मुद्दई क संग रस्ता मँ रहा, झटपट ओसे मेल कइ ल्या। कहूँ अइसा न होइ कि उ तोहका हाकिम स सौंप देइ अउर हाकिम तोहका सिपाही क। फिन तू जेल मँ धाँध दीन्ह जा।

²⁶ Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there, until you have paid the last penny. literally, kodrantes. A kodrantes was a small copper coin worth about 2 lepta (widow’s mites)—not enough to buy very much of anything.

²⁶मइँ तोहका सच सच बतावत हउँ कि जब तक तू पाई-पाई क हिसाब न कइ देब्या तब तलक तू जेल स न छूटि पउब्या।

²⁷ “You have heard that it was said, TR adds “to the ancients,” ‘You shall not commit adultery;’ Exodus 20:14

²⁷“तू सुनि लिहा कि इ कहा गवा अहइ, व्यभिचार जिन करा।’

²⁸ but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

²⁸मुला मइँ तोहसे कहत हउँ कि जदि कउनो स्त्री क बुरी निगाह स देखत ह तउ उ आपन मन मँ पहिले ही ओकरे संग संभोग कइ चुका अहइ।

²⁹ If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. or, Hell

²⁹यह बरे जदि तोहार दाहिन आँख तोसे पाप करवावइ तउ ओका निकारि क फेंक द्या। काहेकि तेरे बरे इ नीक बाटइ कि तोहरे बदन क एक ठु अंग नस्ट होइ जाइ एकरे बजाय तोहार सारा बदन नरक मँ नाइ दीन्ह जाइ।

³⁰ If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. or, Hell

³⁰अउ जदि तोहार दाहिन हाथ तोहसे पाप करवावइ तउ ओका काटिके फेंकि डारा। काहेकि तोहरे बरे इ नीक अहइ कि तोहरे बदन क एक अंग नस्ट होइ जाइ बजाए कि तोहार समूचा बदन नरक मँ जाइ।

³¹ “It was also said, ‘Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,’ Deuteronomy 24:1

³¹“कहा गवा अहइ, ‘जबहि कउनो आपन पत्नी क तलाक देत ह तउ आपन पत्नी क लिखिके तलाक देइ चाही।’

³² but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.

³²मुला मइँ तोहसे कहत हउँ कि हर मनई जउन आपन पत्नी क तलाक देत ह, जदि उ तलाक ओकरे व्यभिचारी करइ क कारण नाहीं दिहेस तउ जब उ पत्नी दूसरा बियाह करत ह, तउ समुझ ल्या कि उ मनई ओसे व्यभिचार करत ह। अउर जउन कउनो उ छोड़ी भई स्त्री स बियाह करत ह तउ भी व्यभिचार करत ह।

³³ “Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,’

³³“तू सबइ इहउ सुन्या ह क हमरे पूर्वजन स कहा गवा रहा, ‘तू सपथ जिन तोड़ा मुला पर्भू स कीन्ह सपथन पूरा करा।’

³⁴ but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;

³⁴मुला मइँ तू सबन स कहत हउँ सपथ जिन ल्या। सरगे क सपथ जिन खा काहेकि उ परमेस्सर क सिंहासन अहइ।’

³⁵ nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

³⁵धरती की सपथ जिन खा काहेकि उ ओकरे गोड़वा क चौकी बाटइ। यरूसलेम क सपथ जिन खा काहेकि इ महाराजाधिराजा क सहर बाटइ।

³⁶ Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.

³⁶आपन मूँड़ क सपथ जिन खा, काहेकि तू एक ठू बारे तक द सफेद या करिया नाहीं कइ सकत्या।

³⁷ But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.

³⁷जदि तू हाँ चाहत ह तउ सिरिफ ‘हाँ’ कहा अउर ना चाहत ह तउ सिरिफ ‘ना’। काहेकि जउन कछू ऍसे जिआदा होता अहइ उ दुस्ट (सइतान) स आवत अहइ।

³⁸ “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ Exodus 21:24; Leviticus 24:20; Deuteronomy 19:21

³⁸तू पचे सुन्या ह कि कहा बाटइ, ‘आँखी क बदले आँखी अउर दाँत बदले दाँत’

³⁹ But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

³⁹मुला मइँ तोहसे कहत हउँ कि कउनो बुरा मनई क विरोध जिन करा। मुला कउनो तोहरे दाहिन गाले प थप्पड़ लगावइ तउ दूसर गाले क ओकरे कइँती घुमाइ द्या।

⁴⁰ If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.

⁴⁰जदि कउनो तोह प मुकदमा चलाइ के तोहार कुर्ता उतरवावइ चाहइ तउ तू ओका आपन चोगा तलक दइ द्या।

⁴¹ Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

⁴¹जदि कउनो तोहका बेगार मँ एक मील चलावइ तउ तू ओकरे संग दुइ मील जा।

⁴² Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.

⁴²जदि कउनो तोसे कछू माँगइ तउ ओका उ दइ द्या। जउन तोसे उधार लेइ चाहइ, ओका मना जिन करा।

⁴³ “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor, Leviticus 19:18 and hate your enemy. not in the Bible, but see Qumran Manual of Discipline Ix, 21-26 ’

⁴³“तू पचे सुन्या ह कि कहा गा बाटइ, ‘तू आपन पड़ोसी स पिरेम करा अउर दुस्मन स घिना कर।’

⁴⁴ But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,

⁴⁴मुला मईं कहत हउँ आपन दुस्मन स भी पिरेम करा। जउन तोहका सतावत हीं, ओनके बरे भी पराथना करा।

⁴⁵ that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.

⁴⁵काहेकि सरगे मँ वसइया आपन परमपिता क संतान होइ सका। उ सूरज क प्रकास बुरा अउर भला सब पइ चमकावत ह। उ पापी अउर धर्मी सब पइ बसकाला मँ पानी बरसावत ह।

⁴⁶ For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?

⁴⁶इ मइँ यह बरे कहत हउँ कि जदि तू ओनही स पिरेम करब्या जउन तोहसे पिरेम करत हीं तउ तोहका का फल मिली? का अइसा तउ चुंगी (टैक्स) क उगाहिया भी नाहीं करतेन?

⁴⁷ If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors NU reads “Gentiles” instead of “tax collectors”. do the same?

⁴⁷जदि तू आपन मीतन क बरे नीक बाट्या तउ दूसर मनई स नीक नाहीं बाट्या। का अइसा विधर्मी भी नाहीं करतेन?

⁴⁸ Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

⁴⁸यह बरे आपन मँ परिपूर्ण बना जइसे तोहार सरगे क परमपिता परिपूर्ण बाटइ।
