John

13

1Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that his time had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
1Eta bazco besta aitzinean, çaquiala Iesusec ecen ethorri cela haren orena iragan ledinçat mundu hunetaric Aitaganát, nola maite vkan baitzituen bereac, munduan ciradenac, finerano maite vkan ditu hec.
2During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him,
2Eta affal ondoan (deabruac ia eçarri çuenean Iudas Iscarioten, Simonen semearen bihotzean, hura tradi leçan)
3Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and was going to God,
3Daquialaric Iesusec gauça gucia eman drauzcala hari Aitác escuetara, eta bera Iaincoaganic ilki dela, eta Iaincoganat ioaiten dela:
4arose from supper, and laid aside his outer garments. He took a towel, and wrapped a towel around his waist.
4Iaiquiten da affaritetic, eta vtziten du arropá: eta harturic longerabat, guerrica cedin harçaz.
5Then he poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
5Guero eçar ceçan vr bacin batetara, eta has cedin discipuluen oinén ikutzen, eta guerricatua cen oihalaz ichucatzen.
6Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?”
6Ethor cedin bada Simon Pierrisgana: eta harc erran cieçon, Iauna, hic niri oinac ikutzen drauzquidac?
7Jesus answered him, “You don’t know what I am doing now, but you will understand later.”
7Ihardets ceçan Iesusec eta erran cieçon, Nic eguiten dudana, hic eztaquic orain: baina guero eçaguturen duc.
8Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I don’t wash you, you have no part with me.”
8Diotsa Pierrisec, Eztituc ikuciren ene oinac seculan. Ihardets cieçón Iesusec, Baldin ikuz ezpaheçat, eztuc vkanen parteric enequin.
9Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”
9Diotsa Simon Pierrisec, Iauna, ez ene oinac solament, baina escuac-ere eta buruä.
10Jesus said to him, “Someone who has bathed only needs to have his feet washed, but is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you.”
10Diotsa Iesusec, Ikucia denac, eztic mengoaric oinac ikuz ditzan baicen, baina duc chahu gucia: eta çuec chahu çarete, baina ez gucioc.
11For he knew him who would betray him, therefore he said, “You are not all clean.”
11Ecen baçaquian cein cen hura traditzen çuena: halacotz erran ceçan, Etzarete chahu gucioc.
12So when he had washed their feet, put his outer garment back on, and sat down again, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?
12Bada ikuci cituenean hayén oinac, eta bere arropac harçara hartu cituenean, berriz mahainean, iarriric erran ciecén, Badaquiçue cer eguin drauçuedan ?
13 You call me, ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord.’ You say so correctly, for so I am.
13Çuec deitzen nauçue, Magistrua eta Iauna, eta vngui dioçue: ceren bainaiz.
14 If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
14Baldin beraz nic ikuci baditut çuen oinac Iauna eta Magistrua naicelaric, çuec-ere behar drauzteçue elkerri oinac ikuci.
15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.
15Ecen exemplu eman vkan drauçuet, nic çuey eguin drauçuedan beçala, çuec-ere daguiçuen.
16 Most certainly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his lord, neither one who is sent greater than he who sent him.
16Eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauçuet, Cerbitzaria ezta bere nabussia baino handiago, ezeta embachadorea hura igorten duena bainoa handiago.
17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
17Baldin gauça hauc badaquizquiçue, dohatsu içanen çarete baldin eguin baditzaçue.
18 I don’t speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen. But that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.’
18Eznaiz çueçaz gucioz minço: nic badaquit cein elegitu ditudan: baina behar da compli dadin Scripturá, Enequin oguia iaten duenac, altchatu du ene contra bere oindogorá.
19 From now on, I tell you before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe that I am he.
19Oraindanic erraiten drauçuet eguin dadin baino lehen, eguin datenean, sinhets deçaçuençát ecen ni naicela.
20 Most certainly I tell you, he who receives whomever I send, receives me; and he who receives me, receives him who sent me.”
20Eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauçuet, baldin nic norbeit igor badeçat, norc-ere hura recebitzen baitu, ni recebitzen nau: eta ni recebitzen nauenac, recebitzen du ni igorri nauena.
21When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, “Most certainly I tell you that one of you will betray me.”
21Gauça hauc erran cituenean Iesus trubla cedin spirituan, eta testifica ceçan, eta erran, Eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauçuet, ecen çuetaric batec tradituren nauela ni.
22The disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom he spoke.
22Orduan discipuluéc batac berceaganat behatzen çutén, ceinez minço cen dudatan içanez.
23One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was at the table, leaning against Jesus’ breast.
23Eta cen Iesusen discipuluetaric bat mahainean haren bulharrera iarria, cein maite baitzuen Iesusec:
24Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, and said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom he speaks.”
24Eta keinu eguin cieçón huni Simon Pierrisec, galde leguión, cein cen harc erraiten çuena.
25He, leaning back, as he was, on Jesus’ breast, asked him, “Lord, who is it?”
25Bada harc Iesusen stomaquera beheraturic, diotsa, Iauna, cein da?
26Jesus therefore answered, “It is he to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it.” So when he had dipped the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.
26Ihardets ceçan Iesusec, Hura duc nic ahamen trempatua emanen draucadana. Eta busti çuenean ahamena, eman cieçón Iudas Iscariot Simonenari.
27After the piece of bread, then Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.”
27Eta ahamenaren ondoan sar cequión Satan. Eta diotsa Iesusec, Eguiten duana eguic fitetz.
28Now no man at the table knew why he said this to him.
28Baina mahainean ciradenetaric batec-ere etzuen aditzen certara hura erran ceraucan.
29For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus said to him, “Buy what things we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.
29Ecen batzuc vste çuten, ceren mulsá baitzuen Iudasec, ecen erran ceraucala Iesusec, Eros itzac bestacotzát behar ditugun gauçác: edo paubrey cerbait eman liecén.
30Therefore having received that morsel, he went out immediately. It was night.
30Hura bada ahamena harturic, bertan ilki cedin, eta cen gauä.
31When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him.
31Eta ilki cenean, erran ceçan Iesusec, Orain glorificatu da guiçonaren Semea, eta Iaincoa glorificatu da hartan.
32 If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him immediately.
32Baldin Iaincoa glorificatu bada hartan, Iaincoac-ere glorificaturen du hura bere baithan, eta bertan glorificaturen du hura.
33 Little children, I will be with you a little while longer. You will seek me, and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come,’ so now I tell you.
33Haourtoác, oraino appurbat çuequin naiz: bilhaturen nauçue: baina Iuduey erran drauedan beçala, Norat ni ioaiten bainaiz, çuec ecin ethor çaitezquete: hala çuey-ere erraiten drauçuet orain.
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another.
34Manamendu berribat emaiten drauçuet, batac berceari on daritzoçuen, nic çuey on eritzi drauçuedan beçala, çuec-ere elkarri on daritzoçuençat.
35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
35Hunetan eçaguturen dute guciéc ecen ene discipulu çaretela, baldin charitate baduçue batac berceagana.
36Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you can’t follow now, but you will follow afterwards.”
36Diotsa Simon Pierrisec, Iauna, norat ioaiten aiz? Ihardets cieçón Iesusec, Norat ni ioaiten bainaiz, ecin orain iarreiqui aquidit: baina iarreiquiren atzait guero.
37Peter said to him, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
37Diotsa Pierrisec, Iauna, ceren ecin iarreiqui naquidic orain? neure arima hiregatic eçarriren diát.
38Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for me? Most certainly I tell you, the rooster won’t crow until you have denied me three times.
38Ihardets cieçón Iesusec, Eure arimá enegatic eçarriren baituc? eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauat, eztic ioren oillarrac vkatu nuqueano hiruretan.
