¹Then six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

¹Unya si Jesus, unom kaadlaw sa wala pa ang pasko, miabut sa Betania, diin si Lazaro, nga gibanhaw ni Jesus sa mga minatay.

²So they made him a supper there. Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with him.

²Sa ingon niana gihatagan siya nila ug usa ka panihapon didto, ug si Marta ang nagasilbe; ug si Lazaro maoy usa sa mga nagalingkod sa lamesa uban kaniya.

³Mary, therefore, took a pound a Roman pound of 12 ounces, or about 340 grams of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.

³Unya si Maria mikuha ug usa ka libra nga pahumot nga lunsay nardo, nga daku ug bili, ug gidihog niya ang mga tiil ni Jesus ug gipahiran niya sa iyang mga buhok; ug ang balay napuno sa kahumot sa unguento.

⁴Then Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said,

⁴Apan si Judas Iscariote, anak ni Simon usa sa iyang mga tinon-an, nga sa mabudhion magtugyan kaniya, miingon:

⁵“Why wasn’t this ointment sold for three hundred denarii, 300 denarii was about a year’s wages for an agricultural laborer. and given to the poor?”

⁵Nganong wala ibaligya kini nga pahumot sa usa ka gatus ug kaluhaan ka pesos, ug ihatag sa mga hangul?

⁶Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.

⁶Apan siya nag-ingon niini, dili kay may kaawa siya sa mga hangul, kondili kay kawatan siya, ug sanglit didto kaniya ang puntil, siya nagakuha sa gisulod niini.

⁷But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of my burial.

⁷Busa si Jesus miingon: Pasagdi ninyo siya; gitagana niya kini sa adlaw sa paglubong kanako.

⁸ For you always have the poor with you, but you don’t always have me.”

⁸Kay ang mga hangul anaa sa kanunay uban kaninyo, apan ako dili uban kaninyo sa kanunay.

⁹A large crowd therefore of the Jews learned that he was there, and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

⁹Ug nanghibalo ang katawohan sa mga Judio nga si Jesus atua didto; ug nangabut sila, dili lamang tungod kang Jesus kondili usab sa pagtan-aw kang Lazaro nga gibanhaw niya sa mga minatay.

¹⁰But the chief priests conspired to put Lazarus to death also,

¹⁰Apan ang mga pangulong sacerdote nanagsabut sa pagpatay kang Lazaro;

¹¹because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.

¹¹Kay tungod kaniya daghanan sa mga Judio, ang mingbulag ug mingtoo kang Jesus.

¹²On the next day a great multitude had come to the feast. When they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

¹²Sa sunod nga adlaw usa ka daku nga pundok sa katawohan nga ming-abut sa pagpamiesta, sa pagkadungog nila nga si Jesus mianhi sa Jerusalem,

¹³they took the branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet him, and cried out, “Hosanna “Hosanna” means “save us” or “help us, we pray.” ! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Psalm 118:25-26 the King of Israel!”

¹³Nanagkuha sila sa mga palwa, ug nanggula sa pagdawat kaniya, ug nanagsinggit sila: Hosanna! Dalayegon ang hari sa Israel, nga ming-anhi sa ngalan sa Ginoo!

¹⁴Jesus, having found a young donkey, sat on it. As it is written,

¹⁴Ug sa hingkit-an ni Jesus ang usa ka nati nga asno, mikabayo siya, ingon sa nahasulat:

¹⁵“Don’t be afraid, daughter of Zion. Behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey’s colt.” Zechariah 9:9

¹⁵Dili ikaw mahadlok, anak nga babaye ni Sion; ania karon, ang imong hari mianhi nga nagakabayo sa usa ka nating asno.

¹⁶His disciples didn’t understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.

¹⁶Ug ang iyang mga tinon-an wala makasabut niining mga butanga sa sinugdan; apan, sa diha nga gihimaya si Jesus, nan nahinumduman nila, nga kining mga butanga nahasulat mahitungod kaniya, ug gibuhat nila kaniya kining mga butanga.

¹⁷The multitude therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, was testifying about it.

¹⁷Unya ang panon sa katawohan, nga didto uban kaniya sa pagtawag niya kang Lazaro gikan sa lubnganan, ug iyang gibanhaw gikan sa mga minatay, mihatag sa pagpamatuod.

¹⁸For this cause also the multitude went and met him, because they heard that he had done this sign.

¹⁸Ug tungod niini usab nanggula ang panon sa katawohan ug mingsugat kaniya, kay nakadungog sila nga gibuhat niya kini nga ilhanan.

¹⁹The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “See how you accomplish nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him.”

¹⁹Ug ang mga Fariseo nanagsinultihay sa ilang kaugalingon: Tan-awa ninyo nga kamo walay nahimo. Ania karon, ang tibook kalibutan nanagsunod kaniya.

²⁰Now there were certain Greeks among those that went up to worship at the feast.

²⁰Ug may pila ka mga Greciahanon uban niadtong sa mga mingtungas sa pagsimba sa fiesta,

²¹These, therefore, came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we want to see Jesus.”

²¹Nga nanagpanuol kang Felipe sa Betsaida, sa Galilea, ug nanagpangamuyo kaniya, nga nanag-ingon: Ginoo, kami buot unta makigkita kang Jesus.

²²Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn, Andrew came with Philip, and they told Jesus.

²²Si Felipe miadto ug misulti kang Andres; ug si Andres miadto ug si Felipe, ug mingsulti sila kang Jesus.

²³Jesus answered them, “The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

²³Ug si Jesus mitubag kanila, nga miingon: Miabut ang takna nga ang Anak sa tawo pagahimayaon.

²⁴ Most certainly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.

²⁴Sa pagkamatuod, sa pagkamatuod, nagaingon ako kaninyo, gawas kong ang usa ka lugas sa trigo mahulog sa yuta, ug mamatay, magausara lamang; apan kong mamatay kini, magabunga ug daghan.

²⁵ He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.

²⁵Ang nahagugma sa iyang kinabuhi mawala kini kaniya; apan ang nagadumot sa iyang kinabuhi dinhi mining kalibutana, gitagana niya kini alang sa kinabuhi nga walay katapusan.

²⁶ If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

²⁶Kong kinsay moalagad kanako, monunot siya kanako; ug kong hain ako, atua usab ang akong alagad; ug kong kinsay moalagad kanako, siya pagapasisdunggan sa Amahan.

²⁷ “Now my soul is troubled. What shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this time?’ But for this cause I came to this time.

²⁷Karon nasamuk ang akong kalag; ug unsay igaingon ko? Amahan, luwasa ako niining taknaa. Apan tungod niini mianhi ako niining taknaa.

²⁸ Father, glorify your name!” Then there came a voice out of the sky, saying, “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.”

²⁸Amahan, himayaa ang imong ngalan. Unya miabut gikan sa langit ang usa ka tingog: Gihimaya ko na, ug pagahimayaon ko kini pag-usab.

²⁹The multitude therefore, who stood by and heard it, said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”

²⁹Busa, ang panon sa katawohan nga atua didto, nga nagpakadungog niini, nanag-ingon nga midalogdog: ang uban nanag-ingon: Usa ka manolonda nagsulti kaniya.

³⁰Jesus answered, “This voice hasn’t come for my sake, but for your sakes.

³⁰Si Jesus mitubag ug miingon: Dili tungod kanako miabut kini nga tingog, kondili tungod kaninyo.

³¹ Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out.

³¹Karon kini nga kalibutan pagahukman; karon ang punoan niini nga kalibutan pagahinginlan.

³² And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

³²Ug ako, kong ako pagapatindugon gikan sa yuta, kabigon ko ang tanan nganhi kanako gayud.

³³But he said this, signifying by what kind of death he should die.

³³Apan kini giingon niya sa pagpasabut sa kamatayon nga iyang pagakamatyan.

³⁴The multitude answered him, “We have heard out of the law that the Christ remains forever. Isaiah 9:7; Daniel 2:44 (but see also Isaiah 53:8) How do you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up?’ Who is this Son of Man?”

³⁴Unya nanubag kaniya ang panon sa katawohan: Hingdunggan namo gikan sa Kasugoan, nga ang Cristo magapadayon sa gihapon. Busa, ngano nga moingon ka, nga kinahanglan pagapatindugon ang Anak sa tawo? Kinsa ba kining Anak sa tawo?

³⁵Jesus therefore said to them, “Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness doesn’t overtake you. He who walks in the darkness doesn’t know where he is going.

³⁵Unya si Jesus miingon kanila: Sa usa ka diriyut pa nga panahon, ang kahayag anaa uban kaninyo; panlakaw kamo nga sa may kahayag pa kamo, aron dili kamo hikalitan sa kangitngit; kay ang nagalakaw sa kangitngit, wala manghibalo kong asa siya paingon.

³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light.” Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.

³⁶Sa may kahayag pa kamo, tumoo kamo sa kahayag, aron kamo mahimong mga anak sa kahayag. Kining mga butanga gipamulong ni Jesus ug milakaw ug mitago siya gikan kanila.

³⁷But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they didn’t believe in him,

³⁷Ug bisan nagbuhat siya sa ingon nga mga kahibulongan sa ilang atubangan, apan sila wala motoo kaniya;

³⁸that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, “Lord, who has believed our report? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” Isaiah 53:1

³⁸Aron matuman ang pulong, nga giingon ni Isaias nga manalagna: Ginoo, kinsa ang mitoo, sa among ginataho, ug kang kinsa gipahayag ang bukton sa Ginoo?

³⁹For this cause they couldn’t believe, for Isaiah said again,

³⁹Tungod niini wala sila makagtoo, kay si Isaias miingon usab:

⁴⁰“He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, and would turn, and I would heal them.” Isaiah 6:10

⁴⁰Gibutaan niya ang ilang mga mata, ug gipatig-a niya ang ilang kasingkasing; aron sila dili makakita uban sa ilang mga mata, ug dili makasabut uban sa ilang kasingkasing, ug dili usab mangakabig, ug dili ako makaayo kanila.

⁴¹Isaiah said these things when he saw his glory, and spoke of him. Isaiah 6:1

⁴¹Kining mga butanga giingon ni Isaias, kay nakita niya ang iyang himaya ug nagsulti mahatungod kaniya.

⁴²Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn’t confess it, so that they wouldn’t be put out of the synagogue,

⁴²Apan walay sapayan bisan pa gayud sa mga punoan daghan ang mingtoo kaniya; apan tungod sa mga Fariseo wala nila igasugid siya, aron dili sila pagulaon sa sinagoga.

⁴³for they loved men’s praise more than God’s praise.

⁴³Kay sila nahagugma sa himaya sa mga tawo labi kay sa himaya nga gikan sa Dios.

⁴⁴Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me.

⁴⁴Ug si Jesus misinggit ug miingon: Ang motoo kanako, wala motoo kanako, kondili sa nagsugo kanako.

⁴⁵ He who sees me sees him who sent me.

⁴⁵Ug ang makakita kanako, makakita sa nagsugo kanako.

⁴⁶ I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.

⁴⁶Ako mianhi nga kahayag sa kalibutan, aron kadtong tanan nga mingtoo kanako dili managpabilin sa kangitngit.

⁴⁷ If anyone listens to my sayings, and doesn’t believe, I don’t judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

⁴⁷Apan kong kinsa ang magpatalinghug sa akong mga pulong, ug dili magatuman kanila, ako dili magahukom kaniya; kay ako wala moanhi sa paghukom sa kalibutan, kondili sa pagluwas sa kalibutan.

⁴⁸ He who rejects me, and doesn’t receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke, the same will judge him in the last day.

⁴⁸Ang nagasalikway kanako ug wala modawat sa akong mga pulong, may magahukom kaniya: ang pulong nga akong giingon, maoy magahukom kaniya sa katapusan nga adlaw.

⁴⁹ For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

⁴⁹Kay ako wala magasulti sa akong kaugalingon, kondili nga ang Amahan nga nagsugo kanako, siya naghatag kanako ug usa ka sugo sa akong igapamulong, ug sa akong igasulti.

⁵⁰ I know that his commandment is eternal life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak.”

⁵⁰Ug ako nahibalo nga ang iyang sugo mao ang kinabuhi nga walay katapusan. Busa, ang mga butang nga akong gipamulong, gipamulong ko sama gayud sa giingon kanako sa Amahan.
