3May Yahweh cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts,
3Svatko laže svome bližnjemu, govori usnama lažljivim i srcem dvoličnim.
4who have said, “With our tongue we will prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?”
4Istrijebi, Jahve, sve usne lažljive i jezik hvastavi;
5“Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says Yahweh; “I will set him in safety from those who malign him.”
5one što zbore: "Jezik je naša snaga, naše su usne za nas: tko nam što može?"
6The words of Yahweh are flawless words, as silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times.
6"Zbog nevolje tlačenih i jauka ubogih sada ću ustati - govori Jahve - spasenje donijet' onom tko ga želi."
7You will keep them, Yahweh. You will preserve them from this generation forever.
7Riječi su Jahvine riječi iskrene, srebro prokušano, od zemlje odvojeno, sedam puta očišćeno.
8The wicked walk on every side, when what is vile is exalted among the sons of men.
8O Jahve, ti ćeš bdjeti nad nama, od naraštaja ovog čuvat' nas svagda,
9pa nek' se okolo vrzu zlotvori, nek' se izdižu ljudi najgori.
