1 Samuel

27

1David said in his heart, “I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me any more in all the borders of Israel. So shall I escape out of his hand.”
1 Meddyliodd Dafydd, "Rhyw ddiwrnod fe'm difethir trwy law Saul; y peth gorau i mi fydd dianc draw i wlad Philistia, fel na fydd gan Saul obaith dod o hyd imi yn unman o fewn cyrrau Israel; a byddaf yn ddiogel o'i gyrraedd."
2David arose, and passed over, he and the six hundred men who were with him, to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath.
2 Felly cychwynnodd Dafydd, a'r chwe chant o ddynion oedd gydag ef, a mynd at Achis fab Maoch, brenin Gath.
3David lived with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal’s wife.
3 Arhosodd Dafydd gydag Achis yn Gath, ef a'i ddynion a'u teuluoedd; a chyda Dafydd yr oedd ei ddwy wraig, Ahinoam o Jesreel ac Abigail, gwraig Nabal o Garmel.
4It was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.
4 Pan ddywedwyd wrth Saul fod Dafydd wedi ffoi i Gath, rhoddodd yntau'r gorau i chwilio amdano.
5David said to Achish, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, let them give me a place in one of the cities in the country, that I may dwell there. For why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?”
5 Dywedodd Dafydd wrth Achis, "Os gweli'n dda, gad imi gael lle i fyw yn un o'r trefi cefn gwlad. Pam y dylai dy was fyw yn y brifddinas gyda thi?"
6Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: why Ziklag pertains to the kings of Judah to this day.
6 Yr adeg honno rhoddodd Achis iddo Siclag, a dyna pam y mae Siclag yn perthyn i frenhinoedd Jwda hyd heddiw.
7The number of the days that David lived in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.
7 Am gyfnod o flwyddyn a phedwar mis y bu Dafydd yn byw yng nghefn gwlad Philistia.
8David and his men went up, and made a raid on the Geshurites, and the Girzites, and the Amalekites; for those were the inhabitants of the land, who were of old, as you go to Shur, even to the land of Egypt.
8 Byddai Dafydd a'i filwyr yn mynd allan ac yn ymosod ar y Gesuriaid a'r Gersiaid a'r Amaleciaid (oherwydd hwy oedd yn preswylio'r wlad o Telam, ar y ffordd i Sur, hyd at yr Aifft).
9David struck the land, and saved neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the cattle, and the donkeys, and the camels, and the clothing; and he returned, and came to Achish.
9 Pan fyddai'n taro ardal, ni adawai'n fyw na dyn na dynes; a byddai'n cymryd defaid, gwartheg, asynnod, camelod a gwisgoedd, ac yna'n dychwelyd at Achis.
10Achish said, “Against whom have you made a raid today?” David said, “Against the South of Judah, against the South of the Jerahmeelites, and against the South of the Kenites.”
10 Pan fyddai Achis yn gofyn, "I ble'r oedd eich cyrch heddiw?" byddai Dafydd yn ateb, "O, yn erbyn Negef Jwda"; neu, "Yn erbyn Negef y Jerahmeeliaid"; neu, "Yn erbyn Negef y Ceneaid".
11David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring them to Gath, saying, “Lest they should tell of us, saying, ‘David this, and this has been his way all the time he has lived in the country of the Philistines.’”
11 Nid oedd Dafydd yn gadael yr un dyn na dynes yn fyw i gario newyddion i Gath, rhag iddynt adrodd yr hanes a dweud, "Fel hyn y gwnaeth Dafydd, a dyma'i arfer tra bu'n byw yng nghefn gwlad Philistia."
12Achish believed David, saying, “He has made his people Israel utterly to abhor him. Therefore he shall be my servant forever.”
12 Yr oedd Achis yn credu Dafydd ac yn meddwl, "Yn sicr y mae wedi ei ffieiddio gan ei bobl Israel, a bydd yn was i mi am byth."
