2 Kings

18

1Now it happened in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
1 Yn y drydedd flwyddyn i Hosea fab Ela brenin Israel, daeth Heseceia fab Ahas brenin Jwda i'r orsedd.
2He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.
2 Yr oedd yn bump ar hugain oed pan ddaeth yn frenin, a theyrnasodd am naw mlynedd ar hugain yn Jerwsalem. Abi merch Sechareia oedd enw ei fam.
3He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that David his father had done.
3 Gwnaeth yr hyn oedd uniawn yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD, yn hollol fel y gwnaeth ei dad Dafydd.
4He removed the high places, and broke the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: and he broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for in those days the children of Israel burned incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.
4 Tynnodd ymaith yr uchelfeydd a dryllio'r colofnau a thorri'r pyst Asera, a malu'r sarff bres a wnaeth Moses; oherwydd hyd y dyddiau hynny bu'r Israeliaid yn arogldarthu iddi ac yn ei galw'n Nehustan.
5He trusted in Yahweh, the God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among them that were before him.
5 Ymddiriedai Heseceia yn yr ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel, ac ni fu neb tebyg iddo ymhlith holl frenhinoedd Jwda, ar ei l nac o'i flaen.
6For he joined with Yahweh; he didn’t depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which Yahweh commanded Moses.
6 Glynodd yn ddiwyro wrth yr ARGLWYDD, a chadw'r gorchmynion a roddodd ef i Moses.
7Yahweh was with him; wherever he went forth he prospered: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and didn’t serve him.
7 Yr oedd yr ARGLWYDD gydag ef, a llwyddai ym mhopeth a wni; gwrthryfelodd yn erbyn brenin Asyria a gwrthod ei wasanaethu.
8He struck the Philistines to Gaza and its borders, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.
8 Trawodd y Philistiaid, yn du373?r gwylwyr ac yn ddinas gaerog, hyd at Gasa a'i therfynau.
9It happened in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
9 Yn y bedwaredd flwyddyn i'r Brenin Heseceia (y seithfed flwyddyn i Hosea fab Ela brenin Israel) ymosododd Salmaneser brenin Asyria ar Samaria a gwarchae arni.
10At the end of three years they took it: in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
10 Wedi tair blynedd enillodd hi; yn y chweched flwyddyn i Heseceia, sef y nawfed flwyddyn i Hosea brenin Israel, yr enillwyd Samaria.
11The king of Assyria carried Israel away to Assyria, and put them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes,
11 Caethgludodd brenin Asyria yr Israeliaid i Asyria, a'u rhoi yn Hala ac ar lannau afon Habor yn Gosan, ac yn ninasoedd y Mediaid.
12because they didn’t obey the voice of Yahweh their God, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it.
12 Bu hyn am nad oeddent wedi gwrando ar lais yr ARGLWYDD eu Duw, ond troseddu yn erbyn ei gyfamod a'r cwbl a orch-mynnodd Moses gwas yr ARGLWYDD; nid oeddent yn gwrando nac yn gwneud.
13Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.
13 Yn y bedwaredd flwyddyn ar ddeg i'r Brenin Heseceia, ymosododd Senacherib brenin Asyria ar holl ddinasoedd caerog Jwda a'u goresgyn.
14Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, “I have offended; return from me. That which you put on me, I will bear.” The king of Assyria appointed to Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
14 Yna anfonodd Heseceia brenin Jwda at frenin Asyria i Lachis a dweud, "Rwyf ar fai. Dychwel oddi wrthyf, a thalaf iti beth bynnag a godi arnaf." Rhoddodd brenin Asyria ddirwy o dri chan talent o arian a deg talent ar hugain o aur ar Heseceia brenin Jwda.
15Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasures of the king’s house.
15 Talodd Heseceia yr holl arian oedd yn nhu375?'r ARGLWYDD ac yng nghoffrau'r palas;
16At that time, Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of Yahweh’s temple, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
16 a'r un pryd tynnodd yr aur oddi ar ddrysau a cholofnau teml yr ARGLWYDD, y rhai yr oedd ef ei hun wedi eu goreuro, ac fe'i rhoddodd i frenin Asyria.
17The king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army to Jerusalem. They went up and came to Jerusalem. When they had come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.
17 Anfonodd brenin Asyria y cad-lywydd, y cadfridog a'r prif swyddog gyda byddin gref o Lachis i Jerwsalem at y Brenin Heseceia. Wedi iddynt ddringo i fyny i Jerwsalem, safasant wrth bistyll y llyn uchaf sydd gerllaw priffordd Maes y Pannwr, a galw am y brenin.
18When they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
18 Daeth Eliacim fab Hilceia arolygwr y palas, a Sebna yr ysgrifennydd, a Joa fab Asaff y cofiadur, allan atynt;
19Rabshakeh said to them, “Say now to Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, “What confidence is this in which you trust?
19 a dywedodd y prif swyddog wrthynt, "Dywedwch wrth Heseceia mai dyma neges yr ymerawdwr, brenin Asyria; 'Beth yw sail yr hyder hwn sydd gennyt?
20You say (but they are but vain words), ‘There is counsel and strength for war.’ Now on whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?
20 A wyt ti'n meddwl bod geiriau yn gwneud y tro ar gyfer rhyfel, yn lle cynllun a nerth? Ar bwy, ynteu, yr wyt yn dibynnu wrth godi gwrthryfel yn f'erbyn?
21Now, behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt. If a man leans on it, it will go into his hand, and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust on him.
21 Ai yr Aifft ffon o gorsen wedi ei hysigo, sy'n rhwygo ac yn agor llaw dyn os pwysa arni? Un felly yw Pharo brenin yr Aifft i bwy bynnag sy'n dibynnu arno.
22But if you tell me, ‘We trust in Yahweh our God;’ isn’t that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?’
22 Neu os dywedi wrthyf, "Yr ydym yn dibynnu ar yr ARGLWYDD ein Duw", onid ef yw'r un y tynnodd Heseceia ei uchelfeydd a'i allorau, a dweud wrth Jwda a Jerwsalem, "O flaen yr allor hon yn Jerwsalem yr addolwch?"'
23Now therefore, please give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.
23 Yn awr, ynteu, beth am daro bargen 'm meistr, brenin Asyria? Rhoddaf ddwy fil o feirch iti, os gelli di gael marchogion iddynt.
24How then can you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
24 Sut, ynteu, y gelli wrthsefyll un capten o blith gweision lleiaf fy meistr, a dibynnu ar yr Aifft am gerbydau a marchogion?
25Have I now come up without Yahweh against this place to destroy it? Yahweh said to me, ‘Go up against this land, and destroy it.’”’”
25 Heblaw hyn, ai heb yr ARGLWYDD y deuthum i fyny yn erbyn y lle hwn i'w ddinistrio? Yr ARGLWYDD a ddywedodd wrthyf, 'Dos i fyny yn erbyn y wlad hon a dinistria hi.'"
26Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, said to Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it. Don’t speak with us in the Jews’ language, in the hearing of the people who are on the wall.”
26 Atebwyd y prif swyddog gan Eliacim fab Hilceia a Sebna a Joa, "Gwell gennym iti siarad ni yn Aramaeg, oherwydd yr ydym yn ei deall, a pheidio siarad yn Hebraeg yng nghlyw'r bobl sydd ar y mur."
27But Rabshakeh said to them, “Has my master sent me to your master, and to you, to speak these words? Hasn’t he sent me to the men who sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?”
27 Ond dywedodd y prif swyddog wrthynt, "Ai at eich meistr a chwi yma yr anfonodd fy meistr fi i ddweud fy neges, yn hytrach nag at y bobl? Onid hefyd at y dynion sydd ar y mur, ac a fydd, fel chwithau, yn bwyta eu tom ac yn yfed eu du373?r eu hunain?"
28Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and spoke, saying, “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.
28 Yna fe safodd y prif swyddog a gweiddi'n uchel mewn Hebraeg, "Clywch eiriau'r ymerawdwr, brenin Asyria.
29Thus says the king, ‘Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you out of his hand.
29 Dyma y mae'n ei ddweud, 'Peidiwch gadael i Heseceia eich twyllo; ni all ef eich gwaredu o'm llaw.
30Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in Yahweh, saying, “Yahweh will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”
30 Peidiwch chymryd eich perswadio ganddo i ddibynnu ar yr ARGLWYDD pan yw'n dweud, Bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn siu373?r o'n gwaredu ni, ac ni roir y ddinas hon i afael brenin Asyria.'
31Don’t listen to Hezekiah.’ For thus says the king of Assyria, ‘Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and everyone of you eat of his vine, and everyone of his fig tree, and everyone drink the waters of his own cistern;
31 Peidiwch gwrando ar Heseceia. Dyma eiriau brenin Asyria: 'Gwnewch delerau heddwch mi, dewch allan ataf, ac yna caiff pob un fwyta o'i winwydden ac o'i ffigysbren, ac yfed o ddu373?r ei ffynnon ei hun,
32until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and of honey, that you may live, and not die. Don’t listen to Hezekiah, when he persuades you, saying, “Yahweh will deliver us.”
32 nes imi ddyfod i'ch dwyn i wlad debyg i'ch gwlad eich hun, gwlad u375?d a gwin, gwlad bara a gwinllannoedd, gwlad olewydd, olew a ml; a chewch fyw ac nid marw.' Peidiwch gwrando ar Heseceia yn eich hudo trwy ddweud, 'Bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn ein gwaredu.'
33Has any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
33 A yw duw unrhyw un o'r cenhedloedd wedi gwaredu ei wlad o afael brenin Asyria?
34Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? Have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
34 Ple mae duwiau Hamath ac Arpad? Ple mae duwiau Seffarfaim, Hena ac Ifa? A wnaethant hwy waredu Samaria o'm gafael?
35Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that Yahweh should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?’”
35 Prun o holl dduwiau'r gwledydd hyn sydd wedi gwaredu ei wlad o'm gafael? Sut felly y bydd i'r ARGLWYDD waredu Jerwsalem o'm gafael?"
36But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word; for the king’s commandment was, “Don’t answer him.”
36 Cadw'n ddistaw a wnaeth y bobl, heb ateb gair, oherwydd yr oedd y brenin wedi rhoi gorchymyn nad oeddent i'w ateb.
37Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, came with Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
37 Yna daeth Eliacim fab Hilceia, arolygwr y palas, a Sebna yr ysgrifennydd, a Joa fab Asaff, y cofiadur, at Heseceia, a'u dillad wedi eu rhwygo, ac adrodd wrtho eiriau'r prif swyddog.
