¹This is now, beloved, the second letter that I have written to you; and in both of them I stir up your sincere mind by reminding you;

¹ Bellach, gyfeillion annwyl, dyma'r ail lythyr imi ei ysgrifennu atoch. Yn y ddau ohonynt, yr wyf yn ceisio deffro dealltwriaeth ddilychwin ynoch trwy eich atgoffa am y pethau hyn.

²that you should remember the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandments of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior:

² Yr wyf am ichwi gofio'r pethau a ragddywedwyd gan y proffwydi sanctaidd, a gorchymyn yr Arglwydd a'r Gwaredwr, a roddwyd trwy eich apostolion.

³knowing this first, that in the last days mockers will come, walking after their own lusts,

³ Deallwch hyn yn gyntaf, y daw yn y dyddiau diwethaf watwarwyr sy'n byw yn �l eu chwantau eu hunain,

⁴and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”

⁴ ac yn holi'n goeglyd: "Beth a ddaeth o'r addewid am ei ddyfodiad ef? Oherwydd, byth er pan hunodd yr hynafiaid, y mae popeth wedi parhau yn union fel y bu o ddechreuad y greadigaeth."

⁵For this they willfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth formed out of water and amid water, by the word of God;

⁵ Y maent yn fwriadol yn anwybyddu'r ffaith hon, fod y nefoedd yn bod erstalwm, a'r ddaear wedi ei llunio o ddu373?r a thrwy ddu373?r gan air Duw;

⁶by which means the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished.

⁶ a thrwy ddu373?r y dinistriwyd byd yr oes honno, sef du373?r y dilyw.

⁷But the heavens that now are, and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

⁷ Gan yr un gair hefyd y mae nefoedd a daear yr oes hon wedi eu gosod mewn st�r ar gyfer y t�n; y maent ar gadw hyd Ddydd barn a distryw yr annuwiol.

⁸But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

⁸ Gyfeillion annwyl, peidiwch ag anghofio'r un peth hwn, fod un diwrnod yng ngolwg yr Arglwydd fel mil o flynyddoedd, a mil o flynyddoedd fel un diwrnod.

⁹The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

⁹ Nid yw'r Arglwydd yn oedi cyflawni ei addewid, fel y bydd rhai pobl yn deall oedi; bod yn amyneddgar wrthych y mae, am nad yw'n ewyllysio i neb gael ei ddinistrio, ond i bawb ddod i edifeirwch.

¹⁰But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

¹⁰ Fe ddaw Dydd yr Arglwydd fel lleidr, a'r Dydd hwnnw bydd y nefoedd yn diflannu � thrwst, a'r elfennau yn ymddatod gan wres, a'r ddaear a phopeth sydd ynddi yn peidio � bod.

¹¹Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness,

¹¹ Gan fod yr holl bethau yma ar gael eu datod fel hyn, ystyriwch pa mor sanctaidd a duwiol y dylai eich ymarweddiad fod,

¹²looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?

¹² a chwithau'n disgwyl am Ddydd Duw ac yn prysuro ei ddyfodiad, y Dydd pan ddatodir y nefoedd gan d�n ac y toddir yr elfennau gan wres.

¹³But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

¹³ Ond disgwyl yr ydym ni, yn �l ei addewid ef, am nefoedd newydd a daear newydd, lle bydd cyfiawnder yn cartrefu.

¹⁴Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without blemish and blameless in his sight.

¹⁴ Felly, gyfeillion annwyl, gwnewch eich gorau, wrth ddisgwyl am y pethau hyn, i fod yn ddi-nam a di-fai yng ngolwg Duw, ac i'ch cael mewn tangnefedd.

¹⁵Regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you;

¹⁵ Ystyriwch amynedd ein Harglwydd yn iachawdwriaeth, yn union fel yr ysgrifennodd ein brawd annwyl, Paul, atoch yn �l y ddoethineb a roddwyd iddo ef.

¹⁶as also in all of his letters, speaking in them of these things. In those, there are some things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they also do to the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

¹⁶ Felly hefyd yn ei holl lythyrau y mae'n s�n am y pethau hyn. Y mae rhai pethau ynddynt sydd yn anodd eu deall, pethau y mae'r annysgedig a'r ansicr yn eu gwyrdroi, fel y maent yn gwyrdroi'r Ysgrythurau eraill hefyd, i'w dinistr eu hunain.

¹⁷You therefore, beloved, knowing these things beforehand, beware, lest being carried away with the error of the wicked, you fall from your own steadfastness.

¹⁷ Ond yr ydych chwi, gyfeillion annwyl, yn gwybod am y pethau hyn eisoes. Byddwch ar eich gwyliadwriaeth, felly, rhag ichwi gael eich ysgubo ymaith gan gyfeiliornad rhai afreolus, a syrthio o'ch safle cadarn.

¹⁸But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

¹⁸ Ond cynyddwch mewn gras, ac mewn gwybodaeth o'n Harglwydd a'n Gwaredwr, Iesu Grist. Iddo ef y bo'r gogoniant yn awr ac am byth! Amen.
