1There was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David sought the face of Yahweh. Yahweh said, “It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he put to death the Gibeonites.”
1 Bu newyn yn nyddiau Dafydd am dair blynedd yn olynol. Ymofynnodd Dafydd 'r ARGLWYDD, ac atebodd yr ARGLWYDD fod Saul a'i dylwyth yn euog o waed am iddo ladd trigolion Gibeon.
2The king called the Gibeonites, and said to them (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn to them: and Saul sought to kill them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah);
2 Galwodd y brenin drigolion Gibeon a'u holi. Nid Israeliaid oedd y Gibeoniaid, ond gweddill o'r Amoriaid, ac yr oedd yr Israeliaid wedi gwneud cytundeb heddwch hwy; eto yr oedd Saul wedi ceisio'u difa yn ei sl dros yr Israeliaid a'r Jwdeaid.
3and David said to the Gibeonites, “What shall I do for you? And with what shall I make atonement, that you may bless the inheritance of Yahweh?”
3 Gofynnodd Dafydd i'r Gibeoniaid, "Beth a gaf ei wneud ichwi? Sut y gwnaf iawn, er mwyn ichwi fendithio etifeddiaeth yr ARGLWYDD?"
4The Gibeonites said to him, “It is no matter of silver or gold between us and Saul, or his house; neither is it for us to put any man to death in Israel.” He said, “Whatever you say, that will I do for you.”
4 Dywedodd trigolion Gibeon wrtho, "Nid mater o arian ac aur yw hi rhyngom ni a Saul a'i deulu, ac nid mater i ni yw lladd neb yn Israel." Dywedodd y brenin, "Beth bynnag a ofynnwch, fe'i gwnaf i chwi."
5They said to the king, “The man who consumed us, and who devised against us, that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the borders of Israel,
5 Dywedasant hwythau, "Am y dyn a'n difaodd ni ac a fwriadodd ein diddymu rhag cael lle o gwbl o fewn terfynau Israel,
6let seven men of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them up to Yahweh in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of Yahweh.” The king said, “I will give them.”
6 rhodder inni saith dyn o'i ddisgynyddion, fel y gallwn eu crogi o flaen yr ARGLWYDD yn Gibea Saul ym mynydd yr ARGLWYDD." Cytunodd y brenin i'w rhoi.
7But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of Yahweh’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
7 Ond fe arbedodd Meffiboseth fab Jonathan, fab Saul oherwydd y llw yn enw'r ARGLWYDD a oedd rhyngddynt, sef rhwng Dafydd a Jonathan mab Saul.
8But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite.
8 Cymerodd y brenin y ddau fab yr oedd Rispa ferch Aia wedi eu geni i Saul, sef Armoni a Meffiboseth, hefyd y pum mab yr oedd Merab ferch Saul wedi eu geni i Adriel fab Barsilai o Mehola.
9He delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the mountain before Yahweh, and all seven of them fell together. They were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, at the beginning of barley harvest.
9 Trosglwyddodd hwy i'r Gibeoniaid, a chrogasant hwythau hwy yn y mynydd o flaen yr ARGLWYDD; syrthiodd y saith ohonynt gyda'i gilydd. Lladdwyd hwy yn nyddiau cyntaf y cynhaeaf, ar ddechrau'r cynhaeaf haidd.
10Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her on the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water was poured on them from the sky. She allowed neither the birds of the sky to rest on them by day, nor the animals of the field by night.
10 Cymerodd Rispa ferch Aia sachliain a'i daenu ar y graig iddi ei hun o ddechrau'r cynhaeaf hyd oni lawiodd diferion o'r awyr ar y cyrff. Ni adawodd i'r un aderyn rheibus ddisgyn arnynt liw dydd, nac anifail gwyllt liw nos.
11It was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
11 Pan hysbyswyd i Ddafydd yr hyn a wnaeth Rispa ferch Aia, gordderchwraig Saul,
12David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh Gilead, who had stolen them from the street of Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, in the day that the Philistines killed Saul in Gilboa;
12 fe aeth a chymryd esgyrn Saul a'i fab Jonathan oddi wrth reolwyr Jabes-gilead. Yr oeddent hwy wedi eu lladrata o'r maes yn Beth-sean lle'r oedd y Philistiaid wedi eu crogi, y dydd y lladdodd y Philistiaid Saul yn Gilboa.
13and he brought up from there the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son: and they gathered the bones of those who were hanged.
13 Cymerodd esgyrn Saul a'i fab Jonathan oddi yno, a chasglwyd ynghyd esgyrn y rhai a grogwyd,
14They buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the tomb of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. After that God was entreated for the land.
14 a'u claddu gydag esgyrn Saul a'i fab Jonathan yn Sela yn nhir Benjamin, ym medd ei dad Cis. Gwnaed y cwbl a orchmynnodd y brenin, ac wedi hyn derbyniodd Duw ymbil ar ran y wlad.
15The Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines. David grew faint;
15 Unwaith eto yr oedd rhyfel rhwng y Philistiaid ac Israel. Aeth Dafydd a'i weision i lawr, a rhyfela yn erbyn y Philistiaid nes bod Dafydd yn lluddedig.
16and Ishbibenob, who was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear was three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being armed with a new sword, thought to have slain David.
16 Yr oedd Isbi-benob, un o dylwyth y Reffaim yno; ac yr oedd ei waywffon yn pwyso tri chan sicl o bres. Yr oedd ef wedi ei wregysu chleddyf newydd, ac yn meddwl lladd Dafydd.
17But Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him, and struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, “You shall go no more out with us to battle, that you don’t quench the lamp of Israel.”
17 Ond fe ddaeth Abisai fab Serfia i'w helpu, a tharo'r Philistiad a'i ladd. Wedi hynny tyngodd milwyr Dafydd wrtho, "Ni chei fynd allan eto gyda ni i ryfel rhag diffodd lamp Israel."
18It came to pass after this, that there was again war with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Saph, who was of the sons of the giant.
18 Ar l hynny bu rhyfel arall yn erbyn y Philistiaid yn Gob. Y tro hwnnw lladdwyd Saff, un arall o dylwyth y Reffaim, gan Sibbechai yr Husathiad.
19There was again war with the Philistines at Gob; and Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite’s brother, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
19 Bu rhyfel eilwaith yn Gob yn erbyn y Philistiaid, a lladdwyd Goliath o Gath gan Elhanan fab Jaare-oregim o Fethlehem; yr oedd coes gwaywffon Goliath fel carfan gwehydd.
20There was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.
20 Pan fu rhyfel eto yn Gath yr oedd yno gawr o ddyn chwech o fysedd ar bob llaw a throed, pedwar ar hugain i gyd; ac yr oedd yntau yn hanu o'r Reffaim.
21When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David’s brother, killed him.
21 Bwriodd sen ar Israel, ond lladdwyd ef gan Jonathan mab Simei brawd Dafydd.
22These four were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
22 Yr oedd y pedwar hyn yn hanu o'r Reffaim yn Gath, a chwympasant trwy law Dafydd a'i weision.
