¹Forasmuch then as Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;

¹پس چون مسیح درد و رنج های جسمانی را کشید، شما نیز خود را برای همین کار آماده سازید. زیرا کسی که درد و رنج کشیده است، دیگر گرفتار گناه نمی شود

²that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

²و تا آخر عمر خود مطابق ارادۀ خدا زندگی خواهد کرد، نه به هدایت شهوات نفسانی،

³For we have spent enough of our past time doing the desire of the Gentiles, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.

³زیرا شما در گذشته به قدر کافی وقت خود را صرف کارهایی که خدا ناشناسان، خواهش انجام آن را دارند، کرده اید. در آن وقت زندگی شما در هرزگی، شهوترانی، مستی، عیاشی، مجالس میگساری، و بت پرستی شرم آور سپری می شد

⁴They think it is strange that you don’t run with them into the same excess of riot, blaspheming:

⁴و اکنون آن ها از اینکه شما دیگر در چنین زندگی بی بند و بار با آن ها شرکت نمی کنید تعجب می کنند و از شما بد می گویند.

⁵who will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

⁵اما آن ها روزی باید حساب خود را به خدایی که برای داوری زندگان و مردگان آماده است، پس بدهند.

⁶For to this end the Good News was preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed as men in the flesh, but live as to God in the spirit.

⁶چرا به مردگان بشارت داده شد؟ برای اینکه آن ها اگرچه مثل همۀ آدمیان در جسم مورد داوری قرار گرفتند، در روح دارای زندگی شوند، همان طوری که خدا زنده است.

⁷But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer.

⁷پایان همه چیز نزدیک است. باید حواس شما جمع باشد و با هوشیاری و خودداری دعا کنید.

⁸And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.

⁸مهمتر از همه، محبت تان نسبت به یکدیگر جدی و قوی باشد، زیرا محبت گناهان زیادی را می پوشاند.

⁹Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.

⁹با خوشحالی و سخاوتمندی نسبت به یکدیگر مهمان نوازی کنید.

¹⁰As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.

¹⁰به عنوان کسی که برکات گوناگون خدا را یافته است، استعدادها و عطایای خود را برای خیریت دیگران به کار ببرید.

¹¹If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

¹¹مثلاً کسی که وعظ می کند، طوری سخن بگوید که گویی از طرف خدا پیامی دارد و آنکه خدمت می کند با قدرتی که خدا به او عطا می فرماید، خدمت کند تا از این راه خدا در همه چیز به وسیلۀ عیسی مسیح جلال یابد. بلی، جلال و قدرت تا به ابد از آن او باد، آمین.

¹²Beloved, don’t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.

¹²ای عزیزان، از آزمایش های سختی که برای امتحان شما پیش می آید، تعجب نکنید و طوری رفتار ننمائید که گویی امری غیر عادی برای شما پیش آمده است.

¹³But because you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy.

¹³در عوض از اینکه در رنج های مسیح شریک شده اید، شادمان باشید تا در وقتی که جلال او ظاهر می شود شادی و خوشی شما کامل گردد.

¹⁴If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed; because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.

¹⁴خوشا به حال شما اگر به خاطر نام مسیح به شما دشنام دهند، زیرا در آن صورت روح پُر جلال خدا در شما ساکن است.

¹⁵For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or a meddler in other men’s matters.

¹⁵امیدوارم که شما هرگز به خاطر قتل یا دزدی یا بدکاری یا دخالت دچار زحمت نشده باشید.

¹⁶But if one of you suffers for being a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this matter.

¹⁶اما اگر به عنوان یک مسیحی، رنج می بینید ناراحت نشوید، بلکه برای اینکه نام مسیح را بر خود دارید، خدا را شکر کنید.

¹⁷For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. If it begins first with us, what will happen to those who don’t obey the Good News of God?

¹⁷وقت آن رسیده است که داوری فرزندان خدا شروع شود و اگر ما اولین کسانی هستیم که داوری می شویم، نصیب و عاقبت کسانی که انجیل خدا را رد کردند چه خواهد بود؟

¹⁸“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and the sinner?” Proverbs 11:31

¹⁸و اگر نجات عادلان اینقدر دشوار است، عاقبت گناهکاران و اشخاص دور از خدا چه خواهد بود؟بنابراین، اگر کسی مطابق ارادۀ خدا، دچار رنج و زحمت شده است، جان خود را به دست آفریدگاری که همیشه به وعده های خود وفا می کند بسپارد و به نیکوکاری خود ادامه دهد.

¹⁹Therefore let them also who suffer according to the will of God in doing good entrust their souls to him, as to a faithful Creator.

¹⁹بنابراین، اگر کسی مطابق ارادۀ خدا، دچار رنج و زحمت شده است، جان خود را به دست آفریدگاری که همیشه به وعده های خود وفا می کند بسپارد و به نیکوکاری خود ادامه دهد.
