¹Then Solomon said, “Yahweh has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

¹آنگاه سلیمان گفت: «خداوند فرموده است که در تاریکی غلیظی ساکن می شوم.

²But I have built you a house of habitation, and a place for you to dwell in forever.”

²اما من برایت عبادتگاه مجللی آباد کرده ام، جائی که تا ابد در آن ساکن باشی.»

³The king turned his face, and blessed all the assembly of Israel: and all the assembly of Israel stood.

³بعد رو به طرف جمعیت کرد و تمام مردم اسرائیل بپا ایستادند.

⁴He said, “Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David my father, and has with his hands fulfilled it, saying,

⁴پادشاه از خداوند درخواست کرد که آن ها را برکت بدهد و گفت: «سپاس باد بر خداوند، خدای اسرائیل! او به وعده ای که بزبان خود به پدرم، داود داده بود، وفا کرد و به او فرمود:

⁵‘Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be prince over my people Israel:

⁵«از همان روزیکه قوم برگزیدۀ خود را از مصر بیرون آوردم، هیچ شهری را در هیچ یک از قبیلۀ اسرائیل انتخاب نکرده ام که در آن خانه ای برایم آباد شود، و هیچ شخصی را برنگزیدم که پیشوای قوم برگزیدۀ من، اسرائیل باشد.

⁶but I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.’

⁶اما اورشلیم را انتخاب کردم تا بنام من یاد شود و داود را برگزیدم که پیشوای قوم من، اسرائیل باشد.»

⁷Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

⁷آرزوی قلبی پدرم، داود این بود که عبادتگاهی بنام خداوند، خدای اسرائیل بسازد.

⁸But Yahweh said to David my father, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart:

⁸اما خداوند به داود فرمود: «چون در دل تو بود که عبادتگاهی برای اسم من بنا کنی، نیکو کردی که این را در دل خود نهادی،

⁹nevertheless you shall not build the house; but your son who shall come forth out of your body, he shall build the house for my name.’

⁹اما تو این کار را نخواهی کرد، بلکه پسرت که از نسل تو می آید، او کسی است که عبادتگاهی برای اسم من بنا می کند.»

¹⁰“Yahweh has performed his word that he spoke; for I have risen up in the place of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Yahweh promised, and have built the house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

¹⁰حالا خداوند به وعده ای که داده بود وفا کرد، زیرا من جانشین پدرم، داود شدم و قرار وعده، خداوند به من این افتخار را بخشید که بر تخت سلطنت اسرائیل بنشینم و عبادتگاهی بنام خداوند، خدای اسرائیل بسازم.

¹¹There I have set the ark, in which is the covenant of Yahweh, which he made with the children of Israel.”

¹¹و من در آنجا صندوقی را قرار دادم که در بین آن پیمانی وجود دارد که خداوند با قوم اسرائیل بسته بود.»

¹²He stood before the altar of Yahweh in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands

¹²بعد سلیمان در مقابل قربانگاه خداوند و در برابر قوم اسرائیل ایستاد و دستهای خود را بلند کرد.

¹³(for Solomon had made a bronze scaffold, five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and on it he stood, and kneeled down on his knees before all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven;)

¹³سلیمان در حویلی بیرون قربانگاهِ برنجی ساخته بود که طول و عرض آن دو و نیم متر و بلندی آن یک و نیم متر بود. او بالای آن رفت و در حضور جمعیت اسرائیل زانو زد، دستهای خود را بسوی آسمان بلند کرد

¹⁴and he said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven, or on earth; you who keep covenant and loving kindness with your servants, who walk before you with all their heart;

¹⁴و گفت: «ای خداوند، خدای اسرائیل! مثل تو خدای دیگری نه در آسمان و نه در زمین وجود دارد. به عهدت وفا می کنی و به بندگانت که از صمیم دل راه ترا دنبال می کنند، همیشه شفقت نشان می دهی.

¹⁵who have kept with your servant David my father that which you promised him: yes, you spoke with your mouth, and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is this day.

¹⁵تو وعده ای را که به بنده ات، داود داده بودی عملی کردی. بلی، با زبانت وعده فرمودی و امروز با دست خود آنرا بجا آوردی.

¹⁶“Now therefore, Yahweh, the God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father that which you have promised him, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children take heed to their way, to walk in my law as you have walked before me.’

¹⁶پس حالا ای خداوند، خدای اسرائیل وعدۀ دیگرت را هم که به بنده ات داود دادی عملی کن که فرمودی: «اگر اولاده ات براه راست بروند و فرایض مرا بجا آورند، همیشه یکی از آن ها پادشاه اسرائیل خواهد بود.»

¹⁷Now therefore, Yahweh, the God of Israel, let your word be verified, which you spoke to your servant David.

¹⁷بنابران، ای خداوند، خدای اسرائیل، آن قولی را که به بنده ات داود دادی بگذار که بحقیقت برسد.

¹⁸“But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain you; how much less this house which I have built!

¹⁸اما آیا ای خدا، واقعاً با آدمیان بر روی زمین سکونت می کنی؟ آسمان و حتی بلندترین آسمان ها گنجایش حضور ترا ندارند، چه رسد به این عبادتگاهی که من برایت بنا کردم.

¹⁹Yet have respect for the prayer of your servant, and to his supplication, Yahweh my God, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which your servant prays before you;

¹⁹اما ای خداوند، خدای من! به دعا و عرض این بنده ات گوش بده. به زاری و گریۀ این خدمتگارت توجه فرما و دعایش را که بدرگاه تو می کند قبول فرما.

²⁰that your eyes may be open toward this house day and night, even toward the place where you have said that you would put your name; to listen to the prayer which your servant shall pray toward this place.

²⁰از تو می خواهم که شب و روز مراقب این عبادتگاه باشی، زیرا خودت فرمودی که نامت همیشه در آن خواهد بود. همچنان دعای مرا که رو بسوی این عبادتگاه می آورم، اجابت فرما.

²¹Listen to the petitions of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: yes, hear from your dwelling place, even from heaven; and when you hear, forgive.

²¹بلی، دعا و مناجات این بنده ات و قوم اسرائیل را که وقتی رو بسوی این عبادتگاه می آورند، از آسمان که جای سکونت تو است، بشنو و ما را ببخش.

²²“If a man sin against his neighbor, and an oath is laid on him to cause him to swear, and he comes and swears before your altar in this house;

²²اگر شخصی متهم به گناهی شود و بر او قسم واجب گردد و آنگاه بیاید و در برابر این قربانگاه به بیگناهی خود قسم بخورد،

²³then hear from heaven, and do, and judge your servants, bringing retribution to the wicked, to bring his way on his own head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

²³پس عرض او را از آسمان بشنو؛ اگر گناهکار باشد جزایش بده و اگر بیگناه باشد او را ببخش.

²⁴“If your people Israel be struck down before the enemy, because they have sinned against you, and shall turn again and confess your name, and pray and make supplication before you in this house;

²⁴اگر مردم اسرائیل بخاطر گناه شان در مقابل تو، به دست دشمن شکست بخورند و آنگاه بیایند و به درگاه تو روی آورند؛ بنام پاک تو اعتراف نمایند و بحضور تو در این خانه دعا کنند،

²⁵then hear from heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave to them and to their fathers.

²⁵پس دعای قوم برگزیده ات را از آسمان بشنو، گناهان شان را بیامرز و آن ها را به این سرزمینی که به نیاکان شان بخشیدی، برگردان.

²⁶“When the sky is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against you; if they pray toward this place, and confess your name, and turn from their sin, when you afflict them:

²⁶وقتیکه دریچه های آسمان بسته شوند و بخاطر گناهی که مردم در مقابل تو کرده اند، باران نبارد و آنوقت بیایند، به این خانه روی آورند، بنام تو اعتراف کنند و از گناه خود که آن مصیبت را برای شان بار آورده است توبه کنند،

²⁷then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, and of your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain on your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance.

²⁷پس دعای شان را از آسمان بشنو، گناهان بندگانت، مردم اسرائیل را ببخش، آن ها را براه راست هدایت کن و باران را بر این سرزمینی که آن را بعنوان ملکیت برای شان دادی، بفرست.

²⁸“If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight or mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is;

²⁸هرگاه در این سرزمین قحطی و مرض بیاید، آفتی بر نباتات نازل شود، یا کِرم و ملخ پیدا شوند، یا دشمنان شان شهرهای شان را تصرف کنند و یا هر مشکل دیگری که داشته باشند،

²⁹whatever prayer and supplication be made by any man, or by all your people Israel, who shall know every man his own plague and his own sorrow, and shall spread forth his hands toward this house:

²⁹آنوقت اگر یکی یا همۀ قوم برگزیدۀ تو بخاطر غم و مصیبتی که دارند هر یک دست دعا و زاری را بسوی این عبادتگاه دراز کنند،

³⁰then hear from heaven, your dwelling place and forgive, and render to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know; (for you, even you only, know the hearts of the children of men;)

³⁰پس از آسمان که جایگاه سکونت تو است بشنو و آن ها را ببخش. تو از دل همۀ آدمیان آگاه هستی. هر کس را مطابق اعمالش جزا بده

³¹that they may fear you, to walk in your ways, so long as they live in the land which you gave to our fathers.

³¹تا از تو بترسند، تا آخر عمر در راه تو قدم بردارند و در این سرزمینی که تو به پدران شان بخشیدی، به پاکی و راستی زندگی کنند.

³²“Moreover concerning the foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, when he shall come from a far country for your great name’s sake, and your mighty hand, and your outstretched arm; when they shall come and pray toward this house:

³²به همین قسم، هرگاه یک شخص بیگانه که از جملۀ قوم برگزیدۀ تو، اسرائیل نباشد و بخاطر شهرت نام بزرگ، دست توانا و قدرت بازوی تو از یک کشور دوردست بیاید و رو بسوی این عبادتگاه دعا کند،

³³then hear from heaven, even from your dwelling place, and do according to all that the foreigner calls to you for; that all the peoples of the earth may know your name, and fear you, as does your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by your name.

³³از آسمان که جای سکونت تو است دعای او را بشنو و به تقاضا و نیاز او جواب بده تا همۀ مردم روی زمین تو را بشناسند، مثل قوم اسرائیل از تو بترسند و بدانند که این عبادتگاهی را که من آباد کرده ام، بنام تو یاد می شود.

³⁴“If your people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to you toward this city which you have chosen, and the house which I have built for your name;

³⁴اگر قوم برگزیدۀ تو بفرمان تو بجنگ دشمنان بروند ـ در هر جائیکه باشند ـ و رو بسوی شهر اورشلیم که تو آن را برگزیدی و این عبادتگاهی که من بنام تو آباد کرده ام دعا کنند،

³⁵then hear from heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

³⁵دعای شان را بشنو و آن ها را پیروز گردان.

³⁶“If they sin against you (for there is no man who doesn’t sin), and you are angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive to a land far off or near;

³⁶اگر در مقابل تو گناه کنند، زیرا انسانی نیست که گناه نکند، و تو بر آن ها قهر شوی و ایشان را به دست دشمنان شان بسپاری و دشمنان آن ها را به سرزمین های دور و یا نزدیک اسیر ببرند،

³⁷yet if they shall repent themselves in the land where they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication to you in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done perversely, and have dealt wickedly;’

³⁷هرگاه از کردۀ خود پشیمان شوند و توبه کنند و از آن جاهائی که در اسارت بسر می برند بدرگاه تو دعا و زاری کنند و بگویند: «ما گناه کرده ایم و کار زشتی از ما سر زده است.»

³⁸if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have carried them captive, and pray toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, and the city which you have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for your name:

³⁸اگر به تمامی دل و جان توبه کنند و رو بسوی این سرزمین که تو به اجداد شان بخشیدی و این عبادتگاهی که من بنام تو آباد کرده ام دعا کنند،

³⁹then hear from heaven, even from your dwelling place, their prayer and their petitions, and maintain their cause, and forgive your people who have sinned against you.

³⁹پس زاری و دعای شان را از آسمان که مسکن مقدس تو است بشنو، بداد شان برس و آن ها را که در برابر تو گناه کرده اند ببخش.

⁴⁰“Now, my God, let, I beg you, your eyes be open, and let your ears be attentive, to the prayer that is made in this place.

⁴⁰حالا ای خدای من، بر ما نظر داشته باش و دعا و مناجات ما را که در اینجا بحضور تو می کنیم قبول فرما!

⁴¹“Now therefore arise, Yahweh God, into your resting place, you, and the ark of your strength: let your priests, Yahweh God, be clothed with salvation, and let your saints rejoice in goodness.

⁴¹پس ای خداوند، خدا، برخیز و با صندوق پیمان که مظهر قوّت تو است، به مکان حضور خویش وارد شو. ای خداوند، خدا، کاهنانت با لباس نجات و رستگاری ملبس باد! مقدسانت از نیکویی تو شادمانی کنند.ای خداوند، خدا، این بندۀ برگزیده ات را ترک مکن! محبت خود را که به بنده ات، داود داشتی بخاطر داشته باش.»

⁴²“Yahweh God, don’t turn away the face of your anointed. Remember your loving kindnesses to David your servant.”

⁴²ای خداوند، خدا، این بندۀ برگزیده ات را ترک مکن! محبت خود را که به بنده ات، داود داشتی بخاطر داشته باش.»
