1It was told Joab, “Behold, the king weeps and mourns for Absalom.”
1یوآب خبر شد که پادشاه برای ابشالوم گریه می کند و ماتم گرفته است.
2The victory that day was turned into mourning to all the people; for the people heard it said that day, “The king grieves for his son.”
2چون مردم شنیدند که پادشاه بخاطر پسر خود بسیار غمگین است، بنابران ظفر آنروز به غم تبدیل شد.
3The people sneaked into the city that day, as people who are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
3عساکر همه مثلیکه در جنگ شکست خورده و شرمنده باشند، داخل شهر شدند.
4The king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, “My son Absalom, Absalom, my son, my son!”
4پادشاه روی خود را پوشاند و با آواز بلند گریه کرد و گفت: «آه ای پسرم، ابشالوم! وای پسرم، ابشالوم!»
5Joab came into the house to the king, and said, “You have shamed this day the faces of all your servants, who this day have saved your life, and the lives of your sons and of your daughters, and the lives of your wives, and the lives of your concubines;
5آنگاه یوآب به خانۀ پادشاه رفت و به او گفت: «امروز تو همه را شرمنده ساختی. همین مردم بودند که زندگی تو، پسران، دختران، زنان و کنیزانت را نجات دادند.
6in that you love those who hate you, and hate those who love you. For you have declared this day, that princes and servants are nothing to you. For today I perceive that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it would have pleased you well.
6تو دشمنان خود را دوست داری و از کسانیکه به تو محبت دارند نفرت می کنی. حالا به ما ثابت شد که سرداران و افرادت برای تو هیچ ارزش ندارند. امروز فهمیدیم که اگر ابشالوم زنده می بود و ما همه کشته می شدیم، تو خوش می شدی.
7Now therefore arise, go out, and speak to comfort your servants; for I swear by Yahweh, if you don’t go out, not a man will stay with you this night. That would be worse to you than all the evil that has happened to you from your youth until now.”
7بهر صورت، حالا برخیز و بیرون برو با مردم به مهربانی صحبت کن. اگر این کار را نکنی به خدا قسم است که تا شب یکنفر هم برایت باقی نمی ماند و این برایت مصیبتی خواهد بود که در عمرت ندیده باشی.»
8Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. They told to all the people, saying, “Behold, the king is sitting in the gate.” All the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled every man to his tent.
8پس پادشاه برخاست و رفت و پیش دروازه نشست. در سراسر شهر شایع شد که پادشاه پیش دروازه نشسته است و همگی بحضور او جمع شدند.در عین حال اسرائیلی ها به خانه های خود فرار کردند.
9All the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “The king delivered us out of the hand of our enemies, and he saved us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he has fled out of the land from Absalom.
9بحث و دعوائی در بین تمام قبایل شروع شد و می گفتند: «پادشاه، ما را از دست دشمنان ما و فلسطینی ها نجات داد و حالا از دست ابشالوم فراری است و در آوارگی بسر می برد.
10Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why don’t you speak a word of bringing the king back?”
10چون ابشالوم را که ما بحیث پادشاه خود برگزیدیم در جنگ کشته شد، پس چرا نرویم و داود را باز نگردانیم تا پادشاه ما شود؟»
11King David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, “Speak to the elders of Judah, saying, ‘Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house? Since the speech of all Israel has come to the king, to return him to his house.
11خبر آنچه که مردم اسرائیل گفتند، به گوش داود پادشاه رسید. پس داود به صادوق و ابیاتار کاهن پیامی به این مضمون فرستاد: به مو سفیدان یهودا بگوئید: «چرا در بازآوردن پادشاه، شما آخر همه باشید؟
12You are my brothers, you are my bone and my flesh. Why then are you the last to bring back the king?’
12شما که خویشاوندان و رگ و خون من هستید، چرا در باز آوردن پادشاه تأخیر می کنید؟»
13Say to Amasa, ‘Aren’t you my bone and my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if you aren’t captain of the army before me continually in the room of Joab.’”
13و به عماسا بگوئید: «چون تو خواهرزادۀ من هستی، خدا مرا بکشد اگر ترا بجای یوآب سپهسالار خود مقرر نکنم.»
14He bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as one man; so that they sent to the king, saying, “Return, you and all your servants.”
14پس عماسا سرکردگان یهودا را قانع ساخت و آن ها هم با یکدل و یکزبان موافقه کردند و به پادشاه پیام فرستادند و گفتند: «تو و همه کسانیکه با تو هستند به پیش ما برگردید.»
15So the king returned, and came to the Jordan. Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to bring the king over the Jordan.
15بنابران، پادشاه رهسپار اورشلیم شد و وقتیکه به دریای اُردن رسید، همه مردم یهودا به استقبال او به جِلجال آمدند تا پادشاه را در عبور از دریای اُردن همراهی کنند.
16Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, who was of Bahurim, hurried and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.
16شمعی، پسر جیرای بنیامینی هم به عجله از بحوریم آمد و همراه مردم یهودا به استقبال او شتافت.
17There were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went through the Jordan in the presence of the king.
17با او یکهزار بنیامینی بشمول صیبا، خادم شائول و پانزده پسر و بیست نفر خدمتگار او بودند و پیش از داود به اُردن رسیدند.
18A ferry boat went to bring over the king’s household, and to do what he thought good. Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, when he had come over the Jordan.
18همۀ خاندان شاه را از دریا عبور دادند و برای خوشی و راحت آن ها از هیچ کاری دریغ نکردند.وقتی پادشاه از دریا عبور کرد، شمعی پسر جیر به پیش پای شاه افتاد
19He said to the king, “Don’t let my lord impute iniquity to me, nor remember that which your servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.
19و گفت: «امیدوارم که آقایم پادشاه، گناهی را که کرده ام و خطای بزرگی را که در روز رفتن شان از اورشلیم از من سر زد فراموش کرده و مرا بخشیده باشند.
20For your servant knows that I have sinned. Therefore behold, I have come this day the first of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.”
20زیرا خودم خوب می دانم که چه گناهی کرده ام و از همین خاطر پیشتر از همۀ خاندان یوسف به استقبال شاه آمدم.»
21But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered, “Shall Shimei not be put to death for this, because he cursed Yahweh’s anointed?”
21ابیشای پسر زِرویه گفت: «آیا شمعی که پادشاه برگزیدۀ خداوند را دشنام داد، کشته نشود؟»
22David said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should this day be adversaries to me? Shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? For don’t I know that I am this day king over Israel?”
22داود گفت: «نمیدانم که با شما پسران زِرویه چه کنم؟ امروز روز کشتن نیست، بلکه روزی است که ما باید جشن بگیریم، زیرا من دوباره پادشاه اسرائیل شدم.»
23The king said to Shimei, “You shall not die.” The king swore to him.
23بعد پادشاه به شمعی گفت: «قسم می خورم که حیات تو در خطر نیست.»
24Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king; and he had neither groomed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in peace.
24بعد مفیبوشت، نواسۀ شائول از اورشلیم بدیدن شاه آمد. از روزیکه پادشاه اورشلیم را ترک کرد، مفیبوشت دیگر نه پاهای خود را شست و نه لباسهای خود را و نه ریش خود را کوتاه کرد. پادشاه به او گفت: «تو چرا با من نرفتی؟»
25It happened, when he had come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said to him, “Why didn’t you go with me, Mephibosheth?”
25مفیبوشت جواب داد: «آقای من، ای پادشاه! خادم من مرا فریب داد. من به او گفتم که الاغم را آماده کن، چون می خواهم بر آن سوار شده همراه پادشاه بروم. شما می دانید که من از دوپا لنگ هستم.
26He answered, “My lord, O king, my servant deceived me. For your servant said, I will saddle me a donkey, that I may ride thereon, and go with the king; because your servant is lame.
26و او به من تهمت کرد که من نخواستم همراه شاه بروم. و من می دانم که پادشاه همچون فرشتۀ خداوند است و بنابران، هر چه میل داری با من بکن.
27He has slandered your servant to my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God. Do therefore what is good in your eyes.
27تمام خاندان ما باور نمی کردند که تو ما را زنده بگذاری، اما تو برعکس، مرا از بین همه کسانیکه با تو بسر یک سفره نان می خوردند، زیادتر افتخار بخشیدی. لهذا من هیچ گله و شکایتی ندارم.»
28For all my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king; yet you set your servant among those who ate at your own table. What right therefore have I yet that I should cry any more to the king?”
28پادشاه گفت: «دیگر حرف نزن. من تصمیم گرفتم که تو و صیبا زمین را بین خود تقسیم کنید.»
29The king said to him, “Why do you speak any more of your matters? I say, you and Ziba divide the land.”
29مفیبوشت گفت: «همۀ زمین از صیبا باشد. چون حالا پادشاه به سلامتی برگشته است، همین برای من کافی است.»
30Mephibosheth said to the king, “Yes, let him take all, because my lord the king has come in peace to his own house.”
30در همین وقت بَرزِلای، همان شخصیکه به پادشاه و سپاه او وقتیکه در محنایم در حال تبعید بسر می بردند، در مورد خوراک و غذا کمک کرده بود، از روجلیم آمد تا شاه را در عبور از دریای اُردن کمک کند.
31Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim; and he went over the Jordan with the king, to conduct him over the Jordan.
31او شخص سالخورده و ثروتمندی بود که هشتاد سال عمر داشت.
32Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even eighty years old: and he had provided the king with sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.
32پادشاه به او گفت: «بیا همراه من به اورشلیم برو. در آنجا زندگی کن و من همه وسایل زندگی ات را فراهم می کنم.»
33The king said to Barzillai, “Come over with me, and I will sustain you with me in Jerusalem.”
33اما بَرزِلای به پادشاه گفت: «سالهای زیادی از عمر من باقی نمانده است که به اورشلیم بروم.
34Barzillai said to the king, “How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?
34من یک شخص پیر هشتاد ساله هستم. فرق خوبی و بدی را کرده نمی توانم. در زندگی شوق و ذوقی برایم نمانده است. خورد و نوش مزه ام نمی دهد. ساز و آواز خوانندۀ مرد یا زن را شنیده نمی توانم. پس چرا با رفتن خود مشکل دیگری بر مشکلات پادشاه بیفزایم؟
35I am this day eighty years old. Can I discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be yet a burden to my lord the king?
35برای من همین افتخار کافی است که با پادشاه از دریا عبور کنم!
36Your servant would but just go over the Jordan with the king. Why should the king repay me with such a reward?
36بعد اجازه می خواهم که به وطن خود برگردم و در همانجائیکه پدر و مادرم دفن شده اند، بمیرم. اما کمهام اینجا در خدمت پادشاه است. اجازه بدهید که با شما برود و هر خوبی که در حق او بکنید در حقیقت در حق من می کنید.»
37Please let your servant turn back again, that I may die in my own city, by the grave of my father and my mother. But behold, your servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good to you.”
37پادشاه گفت: «بسیار خوب، کمهام با من برود و هر چه که تو بخواهی برایش می کنم.»
38The king answered, “Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good to you. Whatever you require of me, that I will do for you.”
38پس همگی از دریا عبور کردند. وقتیکه پادشاه به آنطرف دریا رسید بَرزِلای را بوسید و برکتش داد و بَرزِلای به خانۀ خود برگشت.
39All the people went over the Jordan, and the king went over. Then the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned to his own place.
39پادشاه به جِلجال رفت و کمهام را هم با خود برد. تمام مردم یهودا و نیم بنی اسرائیل در آنجا حاضر بودند و همراه او رفتند.
40So the king went over to Gilgal, and Chimham went over with him. All the people of Judah brought the king over, and also half the people of Israel.
40بعد همۀ مردان اسرائیل جمع شده بحضور او برای شکایت آمدند و به او گفتند که چرا تنها مردان یهودا پادشاه و خانواده اش را در عبور از دریا همراهی کردند؟
41Behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said to the king, “Why have our brothers the men of Judah stolen you away, and brought the king, and his household, over the Jordan, and all David’s men with him?”
41مردان یهودا در جواب گفتند: «ما حق داشتیم این کار را بکنیم، چون پادشاه از قبیلۀ ما است. چرا شما از این موضوع ناراحت هستید؟ ما از او چیزی نگرفته ایم و نه او به ما کدام انعامی داده است.»اسرائیلی ها گفتند: «در اسرائیل ده قبیلۀ دیگر هستند، بنابراین، در مورد پادشاه ده چند حق داریم. پس چرا سایر قبایل را در آوردن شاه دعوت نکردید؟ بخاطر داشته باشید که ما اولین کسانی بودیم که او را دوباره آوردیم تا پادشاه ما باشد.» اما مردان یهودا به تندی جواب دادند.
42All the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, “Because the king is a close relative to us. Why then are you angry about this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king’s cost? Or has he given us any gift?”
42اسرائیلی ها گفتند: «در اسرائیل ده قبیلۀ دیگر هستند، بنابراین، در مورد پادشاه ده چند حق داریم. پس چرا سایر قبایل را در آوردن شاه دعوت نکردید؟ بخاطر داشته باشید که ما اولین کسانی بودیم که او را دوباره آوردیم تا پادشاه ما باشد.» اما مردان یهودا به تندی جواب دادند.
43The men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, “We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more claim to David than you. Why then did you despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king?” The words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
