1Then came all the tribes of Israel to David to Hebron, and spoke, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
1بعد تمام سرکردگان قبایل اسرائیل بحضور داود در حبرون آمدند و گفتند: «ما همگی رگ و خون تو هستیم.
2In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.’”
2پیش از این هرچند شائول پادشاه ما بود، ولی تو رهبر واقعی ما در جنگ بودی و خداوند فرمود که تو باید چوپان و راهنمای مردم اسرائیل باشی.»
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel.
3پس همه مو سفیدان اسرائیل در حبرون بحضور شاه جمع شدند و داود پادشاه با آن ها پیمان بست. مطابق آن پیمان داود را بعنوان پادشاه خود انتخاب نمودند.
4David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
4داود سی ساله بود که پادشاه شد و مدت چهل سال سلطنت کرد.
5In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.
5او قبلاً پادشاه یهودا بود و مدت هفت سال و شش ماه در حبرون پادشاهی کرد. بعد مدت سی و سه سال در اورشلیم بر تمام کشور اسرائیل پادشاه بود.
6The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “Unless you take away the blind and the lame, you shall not come in here”; thinking, “David can’t come in here.”
6در این وقت داود و سپاهش به اورشلیم برای مقابله با یبوسیان که در آن زمان باشندگان آنجا بودند رفتند. یبوسیان به این عقیده بودند که داود نمی تواند آن شهر را تسخیر کند. لهذا به داود گفتند: «تو به اینجا آمده نمی توانی، زیرا حتی اشخاص کور و لنگ هم می توانند از آمدن تو جلوگیری کنند.»
7Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.
7با آنهم داود شهر مستحکم آن ها را تصرف کرد و آنرا شهر داود نامید.
8David said on that day, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and strike the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul.” Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame can’t come into the house.”
8در آن روز داود به افراد خود گفت: «کسانی که می خواهند بر یبوسیان حمله کنند، باید از راه کاریز داخل شهر شوند و آن مردم کور و لنگ را که دشمنان من هستند، از بین ببرند.» (به همین دلیل است که می گویند: «کور و شل وارد قصر نخواهند شد.»)
9David lived in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. David built around from Millo and inward.
9داود پس از تصرف آن قلعۀ مستحکم در آنجا ساکن شد و آن را «شهر داود» نامید. سپس از قسمت شرقی آنجا شروع کرده شهری را در اطراف آن بنا کرد.
10David grew greater and greater; for Yahweh, the God of Armies, was with him.
10داود روز بروز قویتر می شد، زیرا خداوند، خدای قادر مطلق همراه او بود.
11Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house.
11بعد حیرام، پادشاه صور قاصدانی را با چوبهای درخت سرو، نجار و معمار برای داود فرستاد تا برای خود قصری آباد کند.
12David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.
12آنگاه داود دانست که خداوند او را بر اسرائیل به پادشاهی برگزیده و سلطنت او را به خاطر قوم برگزیدۀ خویش اسرائیل استوار نموده است.
13David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
13وقتی داود از حبرون به اورشلیم رفت، کنیزان و زنان دیگر هم گرفت. آن ها برایش پسران و دختران دیگر بدنیا آوردند.
14These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
14اینها نامهای فرزندان او هستند که در اورشلیم متولد شدند: شَموع، شوباب، ناتان، سلیمان،
15and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
15ایبحار، اَلِیشُوع، نِفج، یافیع،
16and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet.
16الیشمع، الیداع و اَلِیفَلَط.
17When the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the stronghold.
17چون فلسطینی ها شنیدند که داود به پادشاهی اسرائیل انتخاب شده است، همۀ لشکر برای دستگیری او رفتند. وقتی داود از آمدن آن ها خبر شد بداخل قلعه رفت.
18Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
18فلسطینی ها بمجردیکه آمدند، در وادی رفائیان پراگنده شدند.
19David inquired of Yahweh, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to David, “Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into your hand.”
19داود از خداوند سوال کرد: «آیا برای مقابله با فلسطینی ها بروم و آیا می توانم آن ها را شکست بدهم؟» خداوند در جواب او فرمود: «بلی، برو و مطمئن باش. آن ها را حتماً شکست می دهی.»
20David came to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there; and he said, “Yahweh has broken my enemies before me, like the breach of waters.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
20بنابران، داود رفت و در بعل فراسیم با فلسطینی ها جنگید و آن ها را شکست داد و گفت: «خداوند مثل طوفان مهیبی دشمنانم را از سر راهم پاشان کرد.» از همین خاطر آنجا را بعل فراسیم نامیدند.
21They left their images there; and David and his men took them away.
21بعد داود و سپاهیانش بتهائی را که فلسطینی ها بجا گذاشته بودند همه را با خود بردند.
22The Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
22فلسطینی ها دوباره به وادی رفائیان آمدند و در آنجا ساکن شدند.
23When David inquired of Yahweh, he said, “You shall not go up. Circle around behind them, and attack them over against the mulberry trees.
23اینبار وقتی داود با خداوند مصلحت کرد، به داود فرمود: «این دفعه از پیشروی حمله نکن، بلکه از پشت سر شان و از پیش درختان به مقابلۀ آن ها برو.
24It shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall stir yourself up; for then Yahweh has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”
24بمجردیکه آواز پا را از بالای درختان شنیدی، آنوقت حمله کن! زیرا این نشانۀ آنست که خداوند راه را برایت باز کرده است تا بروی و سپاه فلسطینی ها را از بین ببری.»داود قرار هدایت خداوند رفتار کرد و فلسطینی ها را از جبعه تا جازِر از بین برد.
25David did so, as Yahweh commanded him, and struck the Philistines from Geba until you come to Gezer.
