1When it happened that we had parted from them and had set sail, we came with a straight course to Cos, and the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.
1ما از آنها خداحافظی کرده آنجا را ترک نمودیم و از راه بحر مستقیماً به جزیرۀ کاس آمدیم و روز بعد به بندرگاه جزیرۀ رودُس وارد شدیم و از آنجا به پاترا رفتیم.
2Having found a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, we went aboard, and set sail.
2درآنجا کشتی ای دیدیم که عازم فنیقیه بود، پس سوار آن شدیم و حرکت کردیم.
3When we had come in sight of Cyprus, leaving it on the left hand, we sailed to Syria, and landed at Tyre, for there the ship was to unload her cargo.
3همینکه قبرس از دور نمایان شد ما از طرف جنوب آن گذشتیم و به سفر خود به سوی سوریه ادامه دادیم و در بندر صور لنگر انداختیم، زیرا قرار بر این بود که بار کشتی را در آنجا خالی کنند.
4Having found disciples, we stayed there seven days. These said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
4در آنجا ایمانداران را پیدا کردیم و هفت روز پیش آنها ماندیم. آن ها با الهام روح خدا به پولُس اصرار کردند، که به اورشلیم نرود.
5When it happened that we had accomplished the days, we departed and went on our journey. They all, with wives and children, brought us on our way until we were out of the city. Kneeling down on the beach, we prayed.
5و چون وقت ما به پایان رسید بار دیگر راه سفر را در پیش گرفتیم و جمیع آنها با زنان و اطفال شان ما را تا خارج شهر بدرقه کردند. آنگاه در ساحل بحر زانو زدیم و دعا کردیم
6After saying goodbye to each other, we went on board the ship, and they returned home again.
6و با یکدیگر خداحافظی نمودیم. وقتی ما سوار کشتی شدیم آنها به خانه های خود بازگشتند.
7When we had finished the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais. We greeted the brothers, and stayed with them one day.
7از صور به سفر بحری خود ادامه دادیم و به شهر پتولامائیس رسیدیم. در آنجا برادران را ملاقات نمودیم و روزی را با آنها به سر آوردیم.
8On the next day, we, who were Paul’s companions, departed, and came to Caesarea. We entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him.
8روز بعد آنجا را ترک کرده به قیصریه آمدیم و به خانه فیلیپُسِ مبشر که یکی از آن هفت نفری بود که در اورشلیم انتخاب شده بودند، رفتیم و پیش او ماندیم.
9Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.
9فیلیپُس چهار دختر باکره داشت که همگی پیشگویی می کردند.
10As we stayed there some days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.
10پس از چند روز یک نفر نبی به نام آکابوس از یهودیه به آنجا رسید.
11Coming to us, and taking Paul’s belt, he bound his own feet and hands, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit: ‘So will the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and will deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”
11او پیش ما آمد و کمربند پولُس را برداشت و دست و پای خود را با آن بست و گفت: «آنچه روح القدس می گوید: این است که یهودیان مقیم اورشلیم صاحب این کمربند را اینطور خواهند بست و او را به دست بیگانگان خواهند سپرد.»
12When we heard these things, both we and they of that place begged him not to go up to Jerusalem.
12وقتی این را شنیدیم هم ما و هم اهالی آن شهر به پولُس التماس نمودیم که از رفتن به اورشلیم صرف نظر نماید.
13Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
13اما پولُس در جواب گفت: «این چه کاری است که شما می کنید؟ چرا با اشکهای خود دل مرا می شکنید؟ من نه فقط حاضرم زندانی شوم، بلکه حاضرم در اورشلیم به خاطر عیسی خداوند بمیرم.»
14When he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The Lord’s will be done.”
14چون سخنان ما در او اثری نکرد دست برداشتیم و گفتیم: «باشد! هرچه خداوند می خواهد همان بشود.»
15After these days we took up our baggage and went up to Jerusalem.
15بعد از چند روز ما بار سفر را بستیم و عازم اورشلیم شدیم.
16Some of the disciples from Caesarea also went with us, bringing one Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we would stay.
16چند نفر از شاگردان مقیم قیصریه هم ما را همراهی کردند و ما را به خانه مناسون که اهل قبرس و یکی از ایمانداران اولیه بود، بردند.
17When we had come to Jerusalem, the brothers received us gladly.
17وقتی به اورشلیم رسیدیم برادران با گرمی از ما استقبال کردند.
18The day following, Paul went in with us to James; and all the elders were present.
18روز بعد پولُس همرای ما بدیدن یعقوب رفت و تمام رهبران کلیسا آنجا حضور داشتند.
19When he had greeted them, he reported one by one the things which God had worked among the Gentiles through his ministry.
19پس از سلام و احوالپرسی، پولُس از کارهایی که خدا به وسیلۀ او در میان ملتهای غیر یهود انجام داده بود گزارش کاملی به آن ها داد.
20They, when they heard it, glorified God. They said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the law.
20آنها وقتی این را شنیدند خدا را ستایش کردند و سپس به پولُس گفتند: «ای برادر، همان طور که می بینی هزاران نفر از یهودیان ایمان آورده اند و همۀ آن ها نسبت به شریعت تعصب بسیار دارند.
21They have been informed about you, that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children neither to walk after the customs.
21برای آن ها گفته شده است که تو به یهودیانی که در کشورهای بیگانه سکونت دارند تعلیم می دهی که از شریعت موسی اطاعت ننموده فرزندان خود را سنت نکنند و دیگر رسوم خود را نگاه ندارند.
22What then? The assembly must certainly meet, for they will hear that you have come.
22چه کنیم؟ آنها حتماً از آمدن تو با خبر خواهند شد.
23Therefore do what we tell you. We have four men who have taken a vow.
23پس هرچه به تو می گوئیم انجام بده. در اینجا چهار نفر هستند که نذری نموده اند.
24Take them, and purify yourself with them, and pay their expenses for them, that they may shave their heads. Then all will know that there is no truth in the things that they have been informed about you, but that you yourself also walk keeping the law.
24تو همراه آنها برو و با آن ها مراسم تطهیر را به جای بیاور و خرج ایشان را هم قبول کن تا آن ها بتوانند سرهای خود را بتراشند و به این ترتیب همه خواهند فهمید که در این شایعات هیچ حقیقتی وجود ندارد بلکه برعکس، تو هم مطابق شریعت زندگی می کنی.
25But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written our decision that they should observe no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from food offered to idols, from blood, from strangled things, and from sexual immorality.”
25و اما در خصوص غیر یهودیانی که ایمان آوردند، ما قبلاً حکم خود را کتباً به اطلاع آن ها رسانیده ایم تا از خوردن غذاهائی که به بت ها تقدیم می گردد و خون و گوشتِ حیوان خفه شده و از زنا پرهیز کنند.»
26Then Paul took the men, and the next day, purified himself and went with them into the temple, declaring the fulfillment of the days of purification, until the offering was offered for every one of them.
26پس روز بعد پولُس آن چهار نفر را همراه خود برد و با آنها مراسم تطهیر را به جا آورد و بعد از آن داخل عبادتگاه در اورشلیم شد و تعداد روزهای دوره تطهیر را، که در آخر آن باید برای هر یک از آنها قربانی گذرانیده شود اعلام نمود.
27When the seven days were almost completed, the Jews from Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the multitude and laid hands on him,
27هنوز دوره هفت روزه تطهیر به پایان نرسیده بود، که بعضی از یهودیان مقیم ایالت آسیا پولُس را در عبادتگاه دیدند. آنها مردم را تحریک کردند و پولُس را گرفتند
28crying out, “Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place. Moreover, he also brought Greeks into the temple, and has defiled this holy place!”
28و فریاد زدند: «ای مردان اسرائیلی کمک کنید، این همان کسی است که در همه جا بر ضد قوم ما و شریعت موسی و این مکان تعلیم می دهد و از آن گذشته یونانیان را نیز به این عبادتگاه آورده و این مکان مقدس را نجس کرده است.»
29For they had seen Trophimus, the Ephesian, with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple.
29(آنها قبلاً تروفیمُس از اهالی اِفِسُس را همراه پولُس در شهر دیده بودند و گمان می کردند که پولُس او را به عبادتگاه آورده است.)
30All the city was moved, and the people ran together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple. Immediately the doors were shut.
30تمام شهر به هم خورد، مردم هجوم آوردند و پولُس را گرفته از عبادتگاه بیرون کشیدند و فوراً درهای عبادتگاه بسته شد.
31As they were trying to kill him, news came up to the commanding officer of the regiment that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
31وقتی مردم می خواستند او را بکشند، به قوماندان فرقۀ رومی خبر رسید که همۀ ساکنان اورشلیم شورش کرده اند.
32Immediately he took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them. They, when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, stopped beating Paul.
32او فوراً با عساکر و صاحب منصبان خود به سوی جمعیت شتافت. وقتی یهودیان فرمانده و عساکر را دیدند از زدن پولُس دست برداشتند،
33Then the commanding officer came near, arrested him, commanded him to be bound with two chains, and inquired who he was and what he had done.
33دراین موقع قوماندان به پولُس نزدیک شد و او را دستگیر ساخت و امر کرد که او را با دو زنجیر ببندند. آنگاه پرسیدند: «این مرد کیست و چه خطائی کرده است؟»
34Some shouted one thing, and some another, among the crowd. When he couldn’t find out the truth because of the noise, he commanded him to be brought into the barracks.
34بعضی از آنها به صدای بلند یک چیز می گفتند و بعضی ها چیز دیگر و چون به علت جنجال بسیار نتوانست از حقیقت امر مطلع شود، فرمان داد که او را به قشله ببرند.
35When he came to the stairs, it happened that he was carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd;
35وقتی به زینه های فرقه رسیدند، عساکر به سبب خشم جماعت مجبور شدند پولُس را روی شانه های خود ببرند،
36for the multitude of the people followed after, crying out, “Away with him!”
36زیرا مردم به دنبال آنها افتاده و دائماً فریاد می زدند: «او را بکشید.»
37As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he asked the commanding officer, “May I speak to you?” He said, “Do you know Greek?
37هنوز داخل قشله نشده بودند که پولُس رو به قوماندان کرد و پرسید: «اجازه می دهی چیزی بگویم؟» قوماندان جواب داد: «تو یونانی هم می دانی؟
38Aren’t you then the Egyptian, who before these days stirred up to sedition and led out into the wilderness the four thousand men of the Assassins?”
38پس تو آن مصری ای نیستی که چندی پیش فتنه ای بر پا کرد و چهار هزار آدمکش را با خود به بیابان برد؟»
39But Paul said, “I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city. I beg you, allow me to speak to the people.”
39پولُس گفت: «من یهودی هستم، اهل شهر ترسوسِ قیلیقیه و تبعۀ یک شهر بزرگ و مهم هستم. خواهش می کنم اجازه بده تا با مردم صحبت کنم.»وقتی قوماندان به او اجازه داد او بالای زینه ایستاد و با بلند کردن دست خود از جمعیت خواست خاموش باشند و همینکه کاملاً خاموش شدند به زبان عبرانی خطاب به آنها چنین گفت:
40When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the stairs, beckoned with his hand to the people. When there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,
40وقتی قوماندان به او اجازه داد او بالای زینه ایستاد و با بلند کردن دست خود از جمعیت خواست خاموش باشند و همینکه کاملاً خاموش شدند به زبان عبرانی خطاب به آنها چنین گفت:
