1The words of Amos, who was among the herdsmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
1اینها سخنان عاموس است که در شهر تَقوع زندگی می کرد و پیشۀ چوپانی داشت. او دو سال پیش از زلزله، وقتیکه عُزیا، پادشاه یهودا و یَرُبعام (پسر یهوآش) پادشاه اسرائیل بود، در بارۀ آنچه که از خداوند بر او نازل شده بود، چنین می گوید:
2He said: “Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the pastures of the shepherds will mourn, and the top of Carmel will wither.”
2«خداوند از کوه سهیون در اورشلیم همچون رعد می غرد. چراگاههای چوپانها خشک می شوند و سبزه های قلۀ کوه کَرمَل زرد و پژمرده می گردند.»
3Thus says Yahweh: “For three transgressions of Damascus, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron;
3خداوند می فرماید: «مردم دمشق بارها گناه کرده اند، بنابراین، از تقصیر شان بر نمی گردم و آن ها را مجازات می کنم، زیرا آن ها با مردم جلعاد با شیوۀ وحشیانه و ظالمانه ای رفتار کردند.
4but I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, and it will devour the palaces of Ben Hadad.
4پس من آتشی را بر خاندان حَزایل پادشاه می فرستم و قلعه های مستحکم بِنهَدَد را می سوزانم.
5I will break the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the valley of Aven, and him who holds the scepter from the house of Eden; and the people of Syria shall go into captivity to Kir,” says Yahweh.
5دروازه های شهر دمشق را می شکنم و اهالی وادی آوَن و پادشاه بیت عدن را نابود می سازم. مردم سوریه به سرزمین قیر به اسارت برده می شوند.»
6Thus says Yahweh: “For three transgressions of Gaza, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they carried away captive the whole community, to deliver them up to Edom;
6خداوند می فرماید: «اهالی غزه بمراتب گناه کرده اند. آن ها سزاوار مجازات هستند، زیرا تمام قوم مرا تبعید کردند تا به دست مردم ادوم تسلیم کنند.
7but I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, and it will devour its palaces.
7پس من آتشی را بر حصارهای غزه می فرستم و قلعه های مستحکم آن را می سوزانم.
8I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon; and I will turn my hand against Ekron; and the remnant of the Philistines will perish,” says the Lord The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai.” Yahweh.
8اهالی اَشدُود را نابود می کنم و پادشاه اَشقَلُون را می کشم. مردم شهر عَقرُون را از بین می برم و تمام فلسطینیانی که باقی مانده اند، هلاک می شوند.»
9Thus says Yahweh: “For three transgressions of Tyre, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they delivered up the whole community to Edom, and didn’t remember the brotherly covenant;
9خداوند می فرماید: «مردم صور مرتب گناه کرده اند. آن ها حتماً مجازات می شوند، زیرا که آن ها تمام قوم ادوم را به اسارت بردند و پیمان برادری خود را شکستند،
10but I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre, and it will devour its palaces.”
10بنابران، من آتشی را بر حصارهای صور می فرستم و قلعه های مستحکم آن را با شعله های آن می سوزانم.»
11Thus says Yahweh: “For three transgressions of Edom, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because he pursued his brother with the sword, and cast off all pity, and his anger raged continually, and he kept his wrath forever;
11خداوند می فرماید: «قوم ادوم بارها گناه کرده اند. من از تقصیرات شان نمی گذرم، زیرا آن ها با شمشیر به تعقیب برادران خود رفتند و با خشم و غضب همه را بیرحمانه بقتل رساندند.
12but I will send a fire on Teman, and it will devour the palaces of Bozrah.”
12پس من هم آتشی را بر شهر تیمان می فرستم و قلعه های بُزره را می سوزانم.»
13Thus says Yahweh: “For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead, that they may enlarge their border.
13خداوند می فرماید: «خطاهای مردم عمون از حد گذشته است. من گناهان شان را فراموش نمی کنم، زیرا آن ها برای اینکه به سرحدات خود توسعه بخشند، در جنگ جلعاد شکم زنان حامله را با شمشیر دریدند.
14But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it will devour its palaces, with shouting in the day of battle, with a storm in the day of the whirlwind;
14بنابران، من هم آتشی را بر حصارهای شهر رَبه می افروزم و قلعه های آن را با غریو و نعرۀ جنگ و غرش طوفان از بین می برم.پادشاه آن با مأمورینش یکجا تبعید می شوند.»
15and their king will go into captivity, he and his princes together,” says Yahweh.
