1Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who are secure on the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!
1وای بر شما که در سهیون و کوه سامره در رفاه و آسودگی زندگی می کنید و به این می بالید که رهبر و پیشوای قوم بزرگی هستید و مردم برای کمک پیش شما می آیند.
2Go to Calneh, and see; and from there go to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines. are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?
2به شهر کلنه بروید، از شهر بزرگ حمات دیدن کنید و از آنجا به شهر جَت، در سرزمین فلسطینی ها بروید و ببینید که آیا آن ها بهتر از ممالک شما هستند و یا ساحۀ سرزمین شان بزرگتر از سرزمین های شماست؟
3Those who put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
3شما فکر روز مصیبتی را که بر سر شما می آید از خود دور می کنید، اما با کردار زشت تان آن روز بد را به خود نزدیکتر می سازید.
4Who lie on beds of ivory, and stretch themselves on their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;
4وای بر شما که بر تختهای عاج دراز می کشید، در بسترهای نرم می خوابید و بهترین گوشت بره و لذیذترین گوشت گوسالۀ گله را می خورید.
5who strum on the strings of a harp; who invent for themselves instruments of music, like David;
5با نوای چنگ آواز می خوانید و مانند داود آلات موسیقی را برای خود اختراع می کنید.
6who drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the best oils; but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.
6جامهای شراب را سر می کشید و با بهترین عطرها خود را خوشبو می سازید، ولی بخاطر مصیبت قوم اسرائیل غمگین نمی شوید.
7Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive; and the feasting and lounging will end.
7بنابران، شما پیشتر از دیگران به اسارت می روید و روزهای عیش و خوشگذرانی شما به پایان می رسند.
8“The Lord Yahweh has sworn by himself,” says Yahweh, the God of Armies: “I abhor the pride of Jacob, and detest his fortresses. Therefore I will deliver up the city with all that is in it.
8خداوند، خدای قادر متعال به ذات خود قسم خورده است و می فرماید: «من از غرور قوم اسرائیل بیزار هستم و از قصرهای باشکوهِ آن ها نفرت دارم. پس من پایتخت آن را با همه چیزی که در آن است به دشمنان تسلیم می کنم.»
9It will happen, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.
9اگر ده نفر در یک خانه باقی مانده باشند، آن ها هم کشته می شوند.
10“When a man’s relative carries him, even he who burns him, to bring bodies out of the house, and asks him who is in the innermost parts of the house, ‘Is there yet any with you?’ And he says, ‘No;’ then he will say, ‘Hush! Indeed we must not mention the name of Yahweh.’
10وقتی خویشاوند شخص مُرده برای دفن جنازۀ او بیاید، از آن کسی که هنوز زنده است می پرسد: «آیا کس دیگری باقی مانده است؟» او جواب می دهد: «نی.» آن خویشاوند می گوید: «خاموش باش و نام خداوند را بر زبان نیاور!»
11“For, behold, Yahweh commands, and the great house will be smashed to pieces, and the little house into bits.
11زیرا اینک خداوند امر می فرماید، خانه های بزرگ و کوچک با خاک یکسان می شوند.
12Do horses run on the rocky crags? Does one plow there with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness;
12آیا اسپها بر صخره ها می دوند؟ آیا گاوها بحر را قلبه می کنند؟ اما شما عدالت را به کام مردم مانند زهر تلخ ساخته و حق را به باطل تبدیل کرده اید.
13you who rejoice in a thing of nothing, who say, ‘Haven’t we taken for ourselves horns by our own strength?’
13شما به اینکه شهر لودیبار را تسخیر کرده اید افتخار می کنید و می گوئید: «ما قدرت آن را داریم که شهر کارنائیم را فتح کنیم.»اما خداوند، خدای قادر مطلق می فرماید: «ای قوم اسرائیل، من سپاه دشمن را می فرستم تا کشور شما را تصرف کنند و مردم شما را از سرحد حمات تا جویبار عربه بتنگ بیاورند.»
14For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, house of Israel,” says Yahweh, the God of Armies; “and they will afflict you from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of the Arabah.”
14اما خداوند، خدای قادر مطلق می فرماید: «ای قوم اسرائیل، من سپاه دشمن را می فرستم تا کشور شما را تصرف کنند و مردم شما را از سرحد حمات تا جویبار عربه بتنگ بیاورند.»
