1These are the words of the covenant which Yahweh commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
1اینست متن پیمانی که خداوند در سرزمین موآب ذریعۀ موسی با قوم اسرائیل بست. این پیمان غیر از آن پیمانی است که قبلاً در کوه حوریب عقد کرده بود.
2Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, You have seen all that Yahweh did before your eyes in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land;
2موسی تمام قوم اسرائیل را یکجا جمع کرده به آن ها گفت: «شما همۀ آن بلاهائی را که خداوند در مصر بر سر فرعون، مأمورین او و مردم آنجا آورد بچشم خود دیدید
3the great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders:
3و شاهد بودید که چه معجزات بزرگی را در آن سرزمین نشان داد.
4but Yahweh has not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, to this day.
4اما تا به امروز خداوند دلی که بفهمد، چشمانی که ببینند و گوشهائی که بشنوند به شما نداده است.
5I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes have not grown old on you, and your shoes have not grown old on your feet.
5مدت چهل سال شما را در بیابان هدایت کردم. لباس تان کهنه نگشت و بوتهای تان پاره نشدند.
6You have not eaten bread, neither have you drunk wine or strong drink; that you may know that I am Yahweh your God.
6گرچه نان برای خوردن و شراب و دیگر مشروبات برای نوشیدن نداشتید، اما خداوند به شما روزی داد تا شما بدانید که خداوند، خدای شما است.
7When you came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us to battle, and we struck them:
7وقتی به اینجا آمدید، سیحون، پادشاه حِشبون و عوج، پادشاه باشان به جنگ ما آمدند، ولی ما آن ها را شکست دادیم.
8and we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of the Manassites.
8سرزمین شان را تصرف کردیم و به قبایل رؤبین، جاد و نیم قبیلۀ مَنَسّی دادیم.
9Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.
9پس از هر کلمۀ این پیمان بدقت پیروی نمائید تا در هر کاری که می کنید موفق شوید.
10You stand this day all of you before Yahweh your God; your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel,
10امروز شما همگی با سرکردگان قوم، ریش سفیدان، مردان اسرائیل
11your little ones, your wives, and your foreigner who is in the midst of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water;
11همراه با فرزندان و زنان تان، بیگانگانی که در اردوگاه شما هستند، چوب شکن و سقاء در حضور خداوند، خدای تان ایستاده اید
12that you may enter into the covenant of Yahweh your God, and into his oath, which Yahweh your God makes with you this day;
12تا در پیمانی که خداوند، خدای تان با شما می بندد، شامل شوید.
13that he may establish you this day to himself for a people, and that he may be to you a God, as he spoke to you, and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
13امروز خداوند می خواهد همانطوری که به شما و به پدران تان، یعنی ابراهیم، اسحاق و یعقوب وعده داد، شما را بعنوان قوم برگزیدۀ خود بپذیرد و او خدای شما باشد.
14Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath,
14در این پیمان تنها شما که امروز در حضور او ایستاده اید شامل نیستید،
15but with him who stands here with us this day before Yahweh our God, and also with him who is not here with us this day
15بلکه تمام اولادۀ تان که هنوز بدنیا نیامده اند، شامل می باشند.
16(for you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed;
16بیاد دارید که در مصر چگونه زندگی می کردیم و چطور از بین اقوام مختلف گذشتیم.
17and you have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them);
17شما بتهای منفور را که از چوب و سنگ و از نقره و طلا ساخته شده بودند در سرزمین شان دیدید.
18lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from Yahweh our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood;
18ممکن است در بین شما شخصی یا خانواده ای و یا قبیله ای وجود داشته باشد که از خداوند، خدای خود برگشته و به پرستش خدایان اقوام دیگر شروع کرده باشد، پس با این کار خود ذهن همۀ مرد را مسموم می سازد.
19and it happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, “I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry.”
19هر کسی که این اخطارها را می شنود فکر نکند که با ادامۀ کارهای بد خود ضرری نمی بیند، ولی این را بداند که با این کار خود خوب و بد را یکسان می سوزاند.
20Yahweh will not pardon him, but then the anger of Yahweh and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie on him, and Yahweh will blot out his name from under the sky.
20خداوند نمی خواهد که آن شخص را ببخشد، زیرا او آتش خشم خدا را علیه خود شعله ور کرده است. تمام لعنت هائی که در این کتاب ذکر شده اند بر سر او نازل می شوند و خداوند او را بکلی محو می کند.
21Yahweh will set him apart to evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this book of the law.
21خداوند او را از تمام قبایل اسرائیل جدا کرده همۀ لعنت هائی را که در این عهدنامه ثبت شده اند، بر سر او می آورد.
22The generation to come, your children who shall rise up after you, and the foreigner who shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses with which Yahweh has made it sick;
22نسلهای آینده و اولادۀ شما و بیگانگانی که از کشورهای دوردست بیایند و از سرزمین تان عبور کنند، بلاها و بیماری هائی را که خداوند به این سرزمین فرستاده است خواهند ديد.
23and that the whole land of it is sulfur, salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which Yahweh overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
23تمام زمین های تان شوره زار و خشک و بی علف و لامزروع می شوند و وضع شان مثل سدوم و عموره و اَدُمَه و زِبُیم می گردد که خداوند با آتش خشم خود آن ها را از بین برد.
24even all the nations shall say, “Why has Yahweh done thus to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?”
24همۀ مردم اینها را دیده می پرسند: «چرا خداوند با این سرزمین چنین کرده است؟ دلیل این خشم شدید او چه بوده است؟»
25Then men shall say, “Because they forsook the covenant of Yahweh, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt,
25آنگاه خواهند گفت: «چون این مردم به پیمانی که هنگام خروج از مصر با خداوند، خدای اجداد شان بسته بودند، وفا نکردند.
26and went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods that they didn’t know, and that he had not given to them:
26آن ها به پرستش خدایان غیر شروع کردند که آن ها را قبلاً نمی شناختند و خداوند پرستش آن ها را منع کرده بود.
27therefore the anger of Yahweh was kindled against this land, to bring on it all the curse that is written in this book;
27بنابران، آتش خشم خداوند برضد آن ها افروخته شد و آن ها را به تمام لعنت هائی که در این کتاب ذکر شده اند گرفتار کرد.
28and Yahweh rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as at this day.”
28خداوند با قهر و خشم و غضب شدید خود آن ها را از این سرزمین ریشه کن ساخت و به سرزمین دیگری راند که تا حال در آنجا بسر می برند.»بعضی اسراری هستند که فقط خود خداوند، خدای ما می داند، اما قوانین خود را برای ما و فرزندان ما آشکار کرده است تا از آن ها پیروی کنیم.
29The secret things belong to Yahweh our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
29بعضی اسراری هستند که فقط خود خداوند، خدای ما می داند، اما قوانین خود را برای ما و فرزندان ما آشکار کرده است تا از آن ها پیروی کنیم.
