¹On that day, King Ahasuerus gave the house of Haman, the Jews’ enemy, to Esther the queen. Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was to her.

¹در همان روز پادشاه تمام دارائی و اموال هامان، دشمن یهودیان را به ملکه اِستَر بخشید. اِستَر به پادشاه گفت که مردخای از خویشاوندان او است. از آن ببعد مردخای اجازه یافت به حضور پادشاه برود.

²The king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

²پادشاه انگشتر خود را با مُهر سلطنتی که از هامان پس گرفته بود، از انگشت کشید و به مردخای داد. اِستَر اموال و دارائی هامان را به مردخای سپرد.

³Esther spoke yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and begged him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

³اِستَر برای بار دوم زیر پاهای پادشاه افتاد و با گریه و زاری از پادشاه درخواست کرد تا از نقشۀ شوم هامان اَجاجی علیه یهودیان جلوگیری کند.

⁴Then the king held out to Esther the golden scepter. So Esther arose, and stood before the king.

⁴پادشاه عصای طلایی خود را بطرف او دراز کرد، و او برخاست و گفت:

⁵She said, “If it pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight, and the thing seem right to the king, and I am pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews who are in all the king’s provinces.

⁵«اگر پادشاه صلاح می دانند و اگر من مورد لطف شان واقع شده ام، خواهش می کنم فرمانی صادر فرمایند تا از اجرای نقشۀ هامان پسر همداتای اَجاجی که برای نابودی یهودیان در تمام امپراطوری کشیده است، جلوگیری شود.

⁶For how can I endure to see the evil that would come to my people? How can I endure to see the destruction of my relatives?”

⁶چطور می توانم شاهد مرگ و نابودی اقوام و خویشاوندان خود باشم؟»

⁷Then King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, “See, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged on the gallows, because he laid his hand on the Jews.

⁷خشایار شاه به ملکه اِستَر و مردخای یهودی گفت: «دیدید که من هامان را به خاطر توطئه اش علیه یهودیان به دار زدم و اموال و دارائی او را به اِستَر دادم.

⁸Write also to the Jews, as it pleases you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring; for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may not be reversed by any man.”

⁸اما فرمانی که به نام پادشاه و مهر سلطنتی صادر شده باشد، لغو شدنی نیست. در هر حال، شما می توانید هرچه بخواهید به یهودیان در همه جا بنویسید و شما همچنین می توانید حکم دیگری بنام من صادر کرده و با مُهر سلطنتی آنرا مختوم کنید.»

⁹Then the king’s scribes were called at that time, in the third month Sivan, on the twenty-third day of the month; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded to the Jews, and to the satraps, and the governors and princes of the provinces which are from India to Ethiopia, one hundred twenty-seven provinces, to every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language, and to the Jews in their writing, and in their language.

⁹پس مردخای در روز بیست و سومِ ماهِ سوم، یعنی ماه سیوان منشی های پادشاه را احضار کرد و حکمی را که خودش نوشته بود، برای یهودیان، حاکمان، والیان و ماًمورین دولتی در تمام یکصد و بیست و هفت ولایت، از هندوستان تا حبشه، فرستاد. آن حکم به خط و زبان محلی هر ناحیه و همچنین به خط و زبان خود یهودیان نوشته شد.

¹⁰He wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by courier on horseback, riding on royal horses that were bread from swift steeds.

¹⁰مردخای فرمان را به اسم خشایار شاه نوشت و با انگشتر سلطنتی مُهر کرد و آن را بوسیله قاصدانی که بر سریع ترین اسپها سوار بودند، فرستاد.

¹¹In those letters, the king granted the Jews who were in every city to gather themselves together, and to defend their life, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, their little ones and women, and to plunder their possessions,

¹¹طبق این فرمان یهودیان از جانب پادشاه اجازه داشتند در هر شهری برای دفاع از خود متحد شوند. اگر افراد مسلح از هر ملتی یا هر ناحیه ای بر یهودیان و زن و فرزند شان حمله نمایند، آن ها حق دارند دشمنان خود را بکشند و اموالشان را تصاحب کنند.

¹²on one day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.

¹²روزی که برای این کار تعیین شد، همان روزی بود که برای کشتار یهودیان در نظر گرفته شده بود، یعنی روز سیزدهم ماه آذر که دوازدهمین ماه سال باشد.

¹³A copy of the letter, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published to all the peoples, that the Jews should be ready for that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.

¹³قرار بر این بود که این فرمان به صورت یک اعلامیه به اطلاع همه در تمام نواحی برسد تا یهودیان بتوانند برای انتقام از دشمنان خود در آن روز آماده باشند.

¹⁴So the couriers who rode on royal horses went out, hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment. The decree was given out in the citadel of Susa.

¹⁴به فرمان پادشاه قاصدان سوار بر اسپ شدند و با سرعت تمام حرکت کردند. این فرمان در پایتخت، یعنی در شهر شوش نیز به اطلاع عموم رسانده شد.

¹⁵Mordecai went out of the presence of the king in royal clothing of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a robe of fine linen and purple; and the city of Susa shouted and was glad.

¹⁵مردخای در حالیکه لباس سلطنتی به رنگ سفید و آبی و چپن ارغوانی رنگی که از پارچۀ ظریف کتان دوخته شده بود بر تن و تاج طلای باشکوهی بر سر داشت، کاخ را ترک کرد. فریادهای خوشی مردم در تمام جاده های شهر شوش بلند بود.

¹⁶The Jews had light, gladness, joy, and honor.

¹⁶یهودیان بخاطر این موفقیت احساس خوشی و آرامش می کردند.در هر شهر و ولایتی که فرمان شاه می رسید، یهودیان با خوشی و سرور آن روز را جشن می گرفتند. در این موقع بسیاری از مردم از ترسِ یهودیان به دین آن ها گرویدند.

¹⁷In every province, and in every city, wherever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had gladness, joy, a feast, and a good day. Many from among the peoples of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews was fallen on them.

¹⁷در هر شهر و ولایتی که فرمان شاه می رسید، یهودیان با خوشی و سرور آن روز را جشن می گرفتند. در این موقع بسیاری از مردم از ترسِ یهودیان به دین آن ها گرویدند.
