1The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
1این پیام از جانب خداوند به من رسید:
2Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel;
2«ای انسان خاکی، این معما و مَثَل را برای قوم اسرائیل بیان کن و به آن ها بگو
3and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: A great eagle with great wings and long feathers, full of feathers, which had various colors, came to Lebanon, and took the top of the cedar:
3خداوند متعال چنین می فرماید: عقابی با بالهای پهن و نیرومند و شهپرهای دراز و رنگارنگ به لبنان آمد و نوک بلندترین شاخۀ یک درخت سرو را با منقار خود کند و به سرزمین تجارت و شهر سوداگران برد.
4he cropped off the topmost of the young twigs of it, and carried it to a land of traffic; he set it in a city of merchants.
4بعد تخمی را از سرزمین شما گرفت و آن را در زمین حاصلخیزی، در کنار یک جوی آب کاشت تا مثل درخت بید بزودی نمو کند.
5He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful soil; he placed it beside many waters; he set it as a willow tree.
5آن نهال نمو کرد و به یک تاک کوتاه و پهن تبدیل شد. شاخه هایش به بالا، بسوی عقاب نمو کردند و در عمق زمین ریشه دوانید. آن تاک، شاخه ها و برگهای زیاد تولید کرد.
6It grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and its roots were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
6بعد یک عقاب دیگر با بالهای پهن و قوی و پرهای زیاد پیدا شد. تاک انگور وقتی او را دید، ریشه ها و شاخه های خود را بسوی او مایل ساخت تا عقاب او را سیرآب سازد.
7There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and behold, this vine bent its roots toward him, and shot forth its branches toward him, from the beds of its plantation, that he might water it.
7گرچه آن تاک در یک زمین حاصلخیز کاشته شده بود، آب فراوان برایش می رسید تا دارای شاخ و برگ زیاد شود، میوه بار آورد و یک تاک زیبا گردد.
8It was planted in a good soil by many waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.
8پس من، خداوند متعال، می پرسم: آیا فکر می کنید که این تاک نمو می کند؟ آیا آن عقاب اولی او را ریشه کن نمی سازد و میوه هایش را نمی چیند تا با شاخه های تازه اش خشک شود؟ برای ریشه کن ساختن آن احتیاج به نیرو و سپاه بزرگ نمی باشد.
9Say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up its roots, and cut off its fruit, that it may wither; that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? and not by a strong arm or many people can it be raised from its roots.
9بلی، این تاک در یک زمین خوب کاشته شده است، اما آیا به نموی خود ادامه داده می تواند؟ هنگامی که بادِ گرمِ شرقی بر او بوزد، در همان زمین خوب و سیراب بکلی پژمرده و خشک می شود.»
10Yes, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind touches it? it shall wither in the beds where it grew.
10آنگاه کلام خداوند بر من نازل شده، فرمود:
11Moreover the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
11«حالا از این قوم سرکش بپرس که آیا معنی این مَثَل را می دانند؟ به آن ها بگو که عقاب اولی پادشاه بابل است که به اورشلیم آمد و پادشاهان و بزرگان آن را با خود به بابل برد.
12Say now to the rebellious house, Don’t you know what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took its king, and its princes, and brought them to him to Babylon:
12او با یکی از شهزادگان پیمانی بست و از او قول گرفت که به پادشاه بابل وفادار بماند. او همچنین اشخاص مهم قوم را بعنوان گروگان پیش خود نگاهداشت
13and he took of the seed royal, and made a covenant with him; he also brought him under an oath, and took away the mighty of the land;
13تا مردم ضعیف شده شورش نکنند و پیمان خود را نشکنند.
14that the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.
14با اینهم پادشاه یهودا دست بشورش زد و سفرای خود را پیش پادشاه مصر فرستاد تا اسپها و سپاه بزرگی برایش بفرستد. اما آیا او در این کار خود موفق می شود؟ آیا با شکستن عهد و پیمان می تواند خود را از مسئولیت برهاند؟»
15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape who does such things? shall he break the covenant, and yet escape?
15خداوند متعال چنین می فرماید: «آنچنان که من خدای زنده هستم، به حیات خودم سوگند که پادشاه یهودا در بابل می میرد، زیرا قول خود را زیر پا گذاشت و مطابق پیمانی که با پادشاه بابل بسته بود، عمل نکرد.
16As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.
16وقتی پادشاه بابل برای کشتن مردم یهودا بیایند و سنگر بگیرند و استحکامات نظامی بنا کنند، پادشاه مصر و لشکر بزرگ او نمی توانند با او کمک کنند،
17Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company help him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts, to cut off many persons.
17زیرا که او به قول خود وفا نکرد و پیمانی را که بسته بود شکست، لهذا راه نجات برایش میسر نیست.»
18For he has despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet has done all these things; he shall not escape.
18خداوند متعال چنین می فرماید: «آنچنان که من خدای زنده هستم، بذات خودم سوگند که او را جزا می دهم، زیرا سوگندی را که در حضور من خورده بود ناچیز شمرد و پیمان مرا شکست.
19Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: As I live, surely my oath that he has despised, and my covenant that he has broken, I will even bring it on his own head.
19من دام خود را برایش می گسترم و در کمند خود گرفتارش می کنم. او را به بابل می برم و در آنجا بخاطر خیانتش جزا می دهم.
20I will spread my net on him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will enter into judgment with him there for his trespass that he has trespassed against me.
20بهترین عساکر او در جنگ بقتل می رسند و کسانی که زنده بمانند، به هر طرف پراگنده می شوند، و بدانید که من، خداوند این سخنان را گفته ام.»
21All his fugitives in all his bands shall fall by the sword, and those who remain shall be scattered toward every wind: and you shall know that I, Yahweh, have spoken it.
21خداوند متعال چنین می فرماید: «من نازکترین شاخچه ای را از نوک بلندترین درخت سرو گرفته و بر قلۀ مرتفع ترین کوه اسرائیل می نشانم،
22Thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will also take of the lofty top of the cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain:
22تا نمو کرده شاخه ها بار بیاورد و ثمر بدهد و یک درخت سرو زیبا شود. هر نوع پرنده بر شاخه های آن آشیانه بسازند و در سایۀ آن پناه ببرند.آنگاه تمام درختان زمین می دانند که من خداوند هستم. درخت بلند را قطع می کنم و درخت کوچک را رشد می دهم و بلند می سازم. درخت سبز را خشک می کنم و درخت خشک را سبز و بارور می سازم. من، خداوند، این را گفته ام و انجام می دهم.»
23in the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it; and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all birds of every wing; in the shade of its branches shall they dwell.
23آنگاه تمام درختان زمین می دانند که من خداوند هستم. درخت بلند را قطع می کنم و درخت کوچک را رشد می دهم و بلند می سازم. درخت سبز را خشک می کنم و درخت خشک را سبز و بارور می سازم. من، خداوند، این را گفته ام و انجام می دهم.»
24All the trees of the field shall know that I, Yahweh, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish; I, Yahweh, have spoken and have done it.
