¹The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

¹خداوند این پیام را به ارمیا فرستاد:

²Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

²به موضوع پیمان من گوش بده و به مردم یهودا و اهالی اورشلیم بگو

³and say to them, Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: Cursed is the man who doesn’t hear the words of this covenant,

³که خداوند، خدای اسرائیل می فرماید: «لعنت بر آن کسی که به مضمون این پیمان توجه نکند.

⁴which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so you shall be my people, and I will be your God;

⁴این همان پیمانی است که وقتی اجداد تان را از مصر که حکم کورۀ آهن را برای شان داشت بیرون آوردم، با آن ها بستم و گفتم که طبق کلام من رفتار کنند و احکام مرا بجا آورند، تا آن ها قوم برگزیدۀ من باشند و من خدای شان.

⁵that I may establish the oath which I swore to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day. Then answered I, and said, Amen, Yahweh.

⁵آنگاه من به وعده ای که به اجداد تان داده ام وفا می کنم و سرزمینی را که شیر و عسل در آن جاریست و شما امروز در آن زندگی می کنید، به آن ها می بخشم.» من جواب دادم: «بلی، چنین باد!»

⁶Yahweh said to me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear the words of this covenant, and do them.

⁶خداوند به من فرمود: «این پیام را به شهرهای یهودا و جاده های اورشلیم اعلام کن و به مردم بگو که به مضمون پیام من گوش بدهند و طبق آن عمل کنند.

⁷For I earnestly protested to your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even to this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

⁷زیرا وقتی که اجداد تان را از سرزمین مصر بیرون آوردم، به آن ها هوشدار دادم و تا به امروز مرتب تأکید کردم که از کلام من پیروی نمایند،

⁸Yet they didn’t obey, nor turn their ear, but walked everyone in the stubbornness of their evil heart: therefore I brought on them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they didn’t do them.

⁸اما آن ها اطاعت نکردند و به احکام و پیمان من گوش ندادند. آن ها همگی با سرسختی دنبال میل فاسد خود رفتند و از احکام پیمان من پیروی ننمودند، بنابران، من هم تمام جزاهائی را که در آن پیمان ذکر شده بود در حق شان اجرا کردم.»

⁹Yahweh said to me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

⁹خداوند به من فرمود: «مردم یهودا و اهالی اورشلیم علیه من تمرد کرده اند.

¹⁰They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words; and they are gone after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

¹⁰آن ها به راه گناه آلود قدیم که پدران شان می رفتند، رجوع کردند. پدران آن ها هم به کلام من گوش ندادند و به پرستش خدایان دیگر پرداختند. چون مردم اسرائیل و یهودا پیمانی را که با اجداد شان بسته بودم شکستند،

¹¹Therefore thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will bring evil on them, which they shall not be able to escape; and they shall cry to me, but I will not listen to them.

¹¹بنابران، من چنان بلائی را بر سر شان می آورم که نتوانند از آن فرار کنند و هرقدر پیش من زاری و دعا کنند، دعای شان را قبول نمی کنم.

¹²Then shall the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem go and cry to the gods to which they offer incense: but they will not save them at all in the time of their trouble.

¹²بعد مردم یهودا و اهالی اورشلیم پیش خدایان خود پناه می برند و قربانی تقدیم می کنند، اما آن خدایان هرگز نمی توانند آن ها را از آن بلائی که دامنگیر شان می شود، نجات بدهند.

¹³For according to the number of your cities are your gods, Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have you set up altars to the shameful thing, even altars to burn incense to Baal.

¹³ای مردم یهودا، شما به تعداد شهرهای تان خدایان دارید و به تعداد جاده های اورشلیم قربانگاه های شرم آور ساخته اید تا برای بتِ بعل قربانی تقدیم کنید.

¹⁴Therefore don’t pray for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry to me because of their trouble.

¹⁴اما تو ارمیا، نباید برای این مردم دعای خیر کنی و نه پیش من زاری و از آن ها شفاعت نمائی، زیرا که من دیگر به التماس آن ها در هنگام سختی گوش نمی دهم.

¹⁵What has my beloved to do in my house, since she has worked lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from you? when you do evil, then you rejoice.

¹⁵چون قوم محبوب من به آنچنان کارهای زشت دست زده اند، دیگر حق ندارند که به عبادتگاه من داخل شوند. آیا نذر و قربانی می تواند شما را از نابودی نجات بدهد و به شما خوشی بخشد؟

¹⁶Yahweh called your name, A green olive tree, beautiful with goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he has kindled fire on it, and its branches are broken.

¹⁶یک وقتی من آن ها را درخت زیتون سرسبز، پُر از میوۀ خوب و اعلی مسمی نمودم، اما حالا با یک غرش طوفان برگهایش را می سوزانم و شاخه هایش را می شکنم.

¹⁷For Yahweh of Armies, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you, because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have worked for themselves in provoking me to anger by offering incense to Baal.

¹⁷من، خدای قادر مطلق، مردم یهودا و اسرائیل را مثل نهالی نشانده بودم، ولی اکنون می خواهم بلائی را بر سر شان نازل کنم، به سبب شرارتی که به ضد خویشتن کردند و برای بتِ بعل قربانی تقدیم نموده و خشم مرا به هیجان آوردند.»

¹⁸Yahweh gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it: then you showed me their doings.

¹⁸خداوند از دسیسه ای که دشمنان علیه من چیده بودند، به من خبر داد،

¹⁹But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter; and I didn’t know that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

¹⁹اما من مثل برۀ بیگناهی که برای کشتن برده می شود، نمی دانستم که آن ها قصد کشتنم را دارند و بر ضد من توطئه کرده اند. آن ها می گفتند: «بیائید این درخت را با میوه هایش از بین ببریم و نامش را از صفحۀ زندگی محو کنیم که دیگر هرگز یاد نشود!»

²⁰But, Yahweh of Armies, who judges righteously, who tests the heart and the mind, I shall see your vengeance on them; for to you have I revealed my cause.

²⁰اما تو ای خداوند قادر مطلق، که داور عادل هستی، از افکار و انگیزۀ دل آن ها خبر داری، پس عرض خود را بحضور تو ارائه می دارم تا انتقام مرا از آن ها بگیری.

²¹Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, saying, You shall not prophesy in the name of Yahweh, that you not die by our hand;

²¹خداوند در جواب فرمود: «مردم عناتوت که قصد کشتن ترا دارند و می گویند: «بنام خداوند نبوت نکن، ورنه ترا با دست خود می کشیم»، همه جزا می بینند، جوانان آن ها با شمشیر کشته می شوند، پسران و دختران شان از قحطی و گرسنگی می میرندو حتی یک نفر آن ها هم زنده نمی ماند، زیرا وقت مجازات مردم عناتوت فرارسیده است و مصیبت بزرگی بر سر آن ها آمدنی است.»

²²therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine;

²²و حتی یک نفر آن ها هم زنده نمی ماند، زیرا وقت مجازات مردم عناتوت فرارسیده است و مصیبت بزرگی بر سر آن ها آمدنی است.»

²³and there shall be no remnant to them: for I will bring evil on the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.
