¹“They say, ‘If a man puts away his wife, and she goes from him, and become another man’s, will he return to her again?’ Wouldn’t that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers; yet return again to me,” says Yahweh.

¹خداوند می فرماید: «اگر مردی زن خود را طلاق بدهد و زن برود و شوهر کند، آن مرد نباید دوباره با او عروسی کند، زیرا این کار، زمین را آلوده می سازد. اما تو ای اسرائیل، گرچه با عاشقان زیادی عشق ورزیدی، با اینهم می خواهی بسوی من برگردی.

²“Lift up your eyes to the bare heights, and see! Where have you not been lain with? You have sat for them by the ways, as an Arabian in the wilderness. You have polluted the land with your prostitution and with your wickedness.

²به تپه های بلند نگاه کن و ببین! آیا جائی پیدا می شود که تو با زنا نمودن خود آن را آلوده نکرده باشی؟ تو مثل عرب بادیه نشین که در کمین رهگذری باشد، بر سر راه به انتظار عاشق می نشینی. تو زمین را با اعمال زشت و قبیح خود آلوده کرده ای.

³Therefore the showers have been withheld, and there has been no latter rain; yet you have a prostitute’s forehead, you refused to be ashamed.

³چون تو مانند یک زنِ فاسد، شرم و حیا نداری، بنابران بارش باران را از تو باز می دارم و از باران بهاری محرومت می سازم.

⁴Will you not from this time cry to me, ‘My Father, you are the guide of my youth?’

⁴حالا تو به من می گوئی: «ای پدر، تو از دوران طفلی دوست من بوده ای،

⁵“‘Will he retain his anger forever? Will he keep it to the end?’ Behold, you have spoken and have done evil things, and have had your way.”

⁵پس برای همیشه بر من خشمگین نمی باشی و قهرت تا ابد دوام نمی کند.» تو این را می گوئی و بازهم به هر کار زشتی که دلت بخواهد، دست میزنی.»

⁶Moreover, Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and there has played the prostitute.

⁶در دوران سلطنت یوشیا پادشاه، خداوند به من فرمود: «آیا دیدی که اسرائیل خیانتکار چه کرد؟ او بر هر تپۀ بلند و در زیر هر درخت سبز رفت و بت پرستی کرد.

⁷I said after she had done all these things, ‘She will return to me;’ but she didn’t return; and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

⁷من به این فکر بودم که او بعد از اینهمه کارهائی که کرد دوباره بسوی من باز می گردد، اما او باز نگشت و خواهر خائن او، یهودا هم کارهای او را دید.

⁸I saw, when, for this very cause that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a bill of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, didn’t fear; but she also went and played the prostitute.

⁸هرچند یهودا دید که من اسرائیل بیوفا را طلاق دادم، ولی عبرت نگرفت و از من نترسید و او هم رفت به بت پرستی پرداخت.

⁹It happened through the lightness of her prostitution, that the land was polluted, and she committed adultery with stones and with stocks.

⁹با اینهم او نه شرمید و با پرستش بتهای سنگی و چوبی که حکم زنا را دارد، زمین را آلوده کرد.

¹⁰Yet for all this her treacherous sister, Judah, has not returned to me with her whole heart, but only in pretense,” says Yahweh.

¹⁰یهودا کارهای بد خواهر خود را نادیده گرفت؛ با قلب صاف پیش من باز نگشت، بلکه توبه اش از روی ریا و تظاهر بود.»

¹¹Yahweh said to me, “Backsliding Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.

¹¹بعد خداوند به من فرمود: «گرچه اسرائیل بی وفا مرا ترک گفت، اما بازهم بهتر از یهودای خائن است.

¹²Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, ‘Return, you backsliding Israel,’ says Yahweh; ‘I will not look in anger on you; for I am merciful,’ says Yahweh. ‘I will not keep anger forever.

¹²حالا به طرف شمال برو و بگو که خداوند می فرماید: ای اسرائیل بی وفا، بسوی من باز گرد. من قهر نیستم، زیرا من خدای رحیم و مهربان هستم و تا ابد بر تو خشمگین نمی مانم.

¹³Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against Yahweh your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice,’ says Yahweh.”

¹³حالا به گناهت اقرار کن، زیرا تو در برابر منِ خداوند که خدای تو هستم بغاوت کرده و در زیر هر درخت سبز بتها را پرستیده ای و نخواستی که از کلام من پیروی کنی.»

¹⁴“Return, backsliding children,” says Yahweh; “for I am a husband to you. I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion.

¹⁴خداوند می فرماید: «ای فرزندان بی وفا، بسوی من که صاحب و خداوند شما هستم برگردید. من شما را، یک نفر از هر شهر و دو نفر از هر قبیله گرفته با خود به اورشلیم می آورم.»

¹⁵I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

¹⁵خداوند می فرماید: «من برای شما رهبران مورد پسند خود را انتخاب می کنم تا شما را از روی حکمت و دانش هدایت کنند.

¹⁶It shall come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land, in those days,” says Yahweh, “they shall say no more, ‘The ark of the covenant of Yahweh!’ neither shall it come to mind; neither shall they remember it; neither shall they miss it; neither shall it be made any more.

¹⁶وقتی جمعیت شما در آن سرزمین زیاد شود، دیگر کسی آن روزها را که صندوق پیمان خداوند در اختیار شان بود، یاد نمی کند. دیگر در فکر آن نمی باشد و حتی نمی خواهد بار دیگر ساخته شود.

¹⁷At that time they shall call Jerusalem ‘The throne of Yahweh;’ and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of Yahweh, to Jerusalem. Neither shall they walk any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart.

¹⁷در آن زمان، اورشلیم «تخت پادشاهی خداوند» بوده همه اقوام جهان در آنجا در حضور او جمع می شوند، از سرکشی دست می کشند و دیگر دنبال هوس و میل نفسانی خود نمی روند.

¹⁸In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I gave for an inheritance to your fathers.

¹⁸مردم یهودا و اسرائیل که در شمال درحال تبعید بسر می بردند، با هم به سرزمینی که به اجداد شان به ارث داده بودم، باز می گردند.»

¹⁹“But I said, ‘How I would put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the armies of the nations!’ and I said, ‘You shall call me “My Father,” and shall not turn away from following me.’

¹⁹خداوند می فرماید: «ای قوم اسرائیل، من می خواستم شما را به حیث فرزندان خود بپذیرم و آن سرزمین مرغوب را که زیباترین سرزمین جهان است، به شما ببخشم. انتظار داشتم که شما مرا پدر خطاب می کنید و از من روی بر نمی گردانید.

²⁰“Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so you have dealt treacherously with me, house of Israel,” says Yahweh.

²⁰اما شما برعکس، مثل زن بی وفائی که شوهر خود را ترک می کند، به من خیانت کردید و بی وفا شدید.»

²¹A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping and the petitions of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten Yahweh their God.

²¹صدائی از کوهها به گوش می رسد و آن صدای گریه و نالۀ قوم اسرائیل است، زیرا آن ها از راه راست منحرف شده و منِ خداوند را که خدای شان هستم فراموش کرده اند.

²²Return, you backsliding children, I will heal your backsliding. “Behold, we have come to you; for you are Yahweh our God.

²²«ای فرزندان بی وفا، بسوی من برگردید تا شما را از بی وفائی شفا بدهم!» آن ها جواب می دهند: «ما حاضریم که بحضور تو بیائیم، زیرا تو خداوند، خدای ما هستی.

²³Truly in vain is help from the hills, the tumult on the mountains. Truly the salvation of Israel is in Yahweh our God.

²³ما یقیناً از بت پرستی در بالای تپه ها فایده ای ندیدیم و نجات قوم اسرائیل تنها به دست خداوند، خدای ما است.

²⁴But the shameful thing has devoured the labor of our fathers from our youth, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

²⁴از طفلی شاهد بوده ایم که بت پرستی سبب شد تا ما محصول زحمت اجداد، گله ها، رمه ها و فرزندان خود را از دست بدهیم.ما باید خجالت بکشیم و رسوائی را قبول کنیم، زیرا ما و همچنان پدران ما از کودکی تا به امروز در برابر خداوند، خدای خود گناه کرده ایم و از فرمان او اطاعت ننموده ایم.»

²⁵Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against Yahweh our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day. We have not obeyed the voice of Yahweh our God.”

²⁵ما باید خجالت بکشیم و رسوائی را قبول کنیم، زیرا ما و همچنان پدران ما از کودکی تا به امروز در برابر خداوند، خدای خود گناه کرده ایم و از فرمان او اطاعت ننموده ایم.»
