1It happened that, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking to all the people all the words of Yahweh their God, with which Yahweh their God had sent him to them, even all these words,
1بعد از آنکه ارمیا پیام خداوند، خدای آن ها را موبمو برای مردم بیان کرد،
2then spoke Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying to Jeremiah, You speak falsely: Yahweh our God has not sent you to say, You shall not go into Egypt to live there;
2عَزَریا (پسر هوشَعیا) و یُوحانان (پسر قاریح) و دیگر اشخاص مغرور به ارمیا گفتند: «تو دروغ می گوئی. خداوند، خدایت ترا نفرستاده است که ما را از رفتن به مصر منع کنی،
3but Baruch the son of Neriah sets you on against us, to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they may put us to death, and carry us away captive to Babylon.
3بلکه باروک (پسر نیریا) ترا علیه ما تحریک کرده است تا ما در اینجا بمانیم و کلدانیان ما را بکشند و یا به بابل اسیر ببرند.»
4So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, didn’t obey the voice of Yahweh, to dwell in the land of Judah.
4پس یُوحانان و سرکردگان لشکر و مردم از امر خداوند اطاعت نکردند و نخواستند که در سرزمین یهودا بمانند.
5But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, who were returned from all the nations where they had been driven, to live in the land of Judah;
5بعد یُوحانان و همراهانش بازماندگان مردم یهودا را با دیگر کسانی که در سرزمین های مجاور رانده شده و سپس به یهودا برگشته بودند، با خود گرفته رهسپار مصر شدند.
6the men, and the women, and the children, and the king’s daughters, and every person who Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan; and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah;
6در این جمله مردان، زنان، کودکان، دختران پادشاه و همه کسانی که نِبوزَرادان، قوماندان قوای بابل، به دست جَدَلیا سپرده بود، دیده می شدند. ارمیا و باروک را هم با خود بردند.
7and they came into the land of Egypt; for they didn’t obey the voice of Yahweh: and they came to Tahpanhes.
7به این ترتیب، آن ها از امر خداوند اطاعت نکردند و به مصر رفتند و در شهر تَحفَنحیس وارد شدند.
8Then came the word of Yahweh to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,
8آنگاه در تَحفَنحیس کلام خداوند برای ارمیا آمد و فرمود:
9Take great stones in your hand, and hide them in mortar in the brick work, which is at the entry of Pharaoh’s house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;
9«چند سنگ بزرگ را بگیر و در زیر سنگفرش پیشروی دروازۀ قصر فرعون در تَحفَنحیس پنهان کن
10and tell them, Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne on these stones that I have hidden; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.
10و به مردم بگو که من، خداوند قادر مطلق، خدای اسرائیل، بندۀ خود، نبوکدنصر، پادشاه بابل را می آورم. او تخت خود را بر سنگهائی که در اینجا پنهان کرده ام قرار می دهد و سایبان شاهانۀ خود را بالای آن ها برپا می کند.
11He shall come, and shall strike the land of Egypt; such as are for death shall be put to death, and such as are for captivity to captivity, and such as are for the sword to the sword.
11او سرزمین مصر را ویران می سازد و کسانی را که محکوم به مرگ اند می کشد، آنهائی را که مستوجب اسارت هستند، اسیر می برد و آن عده ای را که باید با شمشیر کشته شوند، به قتل می رساند.
12I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captive: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd puts on his garment; and he shall go forth from there in peace.
12آتشی را در بتخانۀ مصر می افروزد و بتها را می سوزاند و یا به غنیمت می برد. همانطوری که چوپان شبشها را یکه یکه از لباس خود می چیند، پادشاه بابل هم سرزمین مصر را از همه چیز هایش پاک و خالی می کند و فاتحانه به وطن خود بر می گردد.ستونهای مقدس بیت شمس را می شکند و بتخانه ها را آتش می زند.»
13He shall also break the pillars of Beth Shemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of Egypt shall he burn with fire.
