1Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
1خداوند به موسی فرمود: «به قوم اسرائیل بگو که هر یک از رهبران دوازده قبیلۀ شان یک عصا برای تو بیاورد. تو نام هر کدام آن ها را بر عصای او بنویس.
2“Speak to the children of Israel, and take of them rods, one for each fathers’ house, of all their princes according to their fathers’ houses, twelve rods: write every man’s name on his rod.
2نام هارون باید بر عصای قبیلۀ لاوی نوشته شود.
3You shall write Aaron’s name on the rod of Levi; for there shall be one rod for each head of their fathers’ houses.
3بعد آن عصاها را در خیمۀ حضور خداوند برده پیشروی صندوق پیمان، یعنی جائی که با شما ملاقات می کنم، بگذار.
4You shall lay them up in the Tent of Meeting before the testimony, where I meet with you.
4آنگاه عصای شخصی را که من انتخاب کرده ام شگوفه می کند. به این ترتیب، به شکایات همیشگی قوم که برضد تو می کنند خاتمه می دهم.»
5It shall happen, that the rod of the man whom I shall choose shall bud: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against you.”
5موسی با مردم اسرائیل مذاکره نمود و هر یک از رهبران دوازده قبیله برای او یک عصا آورد
6Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and all their princes gave him rods, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
6و موسی آن ها را گرفته با عصای هارون در خیمۀ عبادت برد و پیشروی صندوق پیمان خداوند گذاشت.
7Moses laid up the rods before Yahweh in the tent of the testimony.
7فردای آن موسی به خیمه داخل شد و دید که عصای هارون که نام قبیلۀ لاوی بر آن نوشته شده بود شگفته و شگوفه کرده و بادام پخته بار آورده است.
8It happened on the next day, that Moses went into the tent of the testimony; and behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and put forth buds, and produced blossoms, and bore ripe almonds.
8موسی عصاها را بیرون آورد و به قوم اسرائیل نشان داد. بعد از آنکه آن ها عصاها را دیدند، هر یک از رهبران عصای خود را پس گرفت.
9Moses brought out all the rods from before Yahweh to all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
9خداوند به موسی فرمود که عصای هارون را دوباره در پیشروی صندوق پیمان بگذارد تا اخطاریه ای برای این مردم سرکش باشد و بدانند که اگر از شکایت دست نکشند، از بین می روند.
10Yahweh said to Moses, “Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that you may make an end of their murmurings against me, that they not die.”
10پس موسی هر آنچه را که خداوند فرموده بود انجام داد.سپس قوم اسرائیل به موسی شکایت کرده گفتند: «برای ما دیگر امیدی باقی نمانده است. حالا هر کسی که نزدیک خیمۀ حضور خداوند برود کشته می شود، پس همۀ ما هلاک می گردیم.»
11Moses did so. As Yahweh commanded him, so he did.
11سپس قوم اسرائیل به موسی شکایت کرده گفتند: «برای ما دیگر امیدی باقی نمانده است. حالا هر کسی که نزدیک خیمۀ حضور خداوند برود کشته می شود، پس همۀ ما هلاک می گردیم.»
12The children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, “Behold, we perish! We are undone! We are all undone!
13Everyone who comes near, who comes near to the tabernacle of Yahweh, dies! Will we all perish?”
