1Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
1محله، نوعه، حُجله، مِلکه و تِرزه دختران صَلفُحاد بودند. صَلفُحاد پسر حافر بود و حافر پسر جلعاد، نواسۀ ماخیر و کواسۀ مَنَسّی و مَنَسّی یکی از پسران یوسف بود.
2They stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, at the door of the Tent of Meeting, saying,
2یک روز این دخترها به دروازۀ خیمۀ حضور خداوند رفتند در برابر موسی، اَلِعازار کاهن، رؤسای قبایل و سایر مردمی که در آنجا حضور داشتند، ایستادند و عرض کردند:
3“Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against Yahweh in the company of Korah: but he died in his own sin; and he had no sons.
3«پدر ما در بیابان مُرد و پسری نداشت. او در جملۀ پیروان قورَح نبود که برضد خداوند تمرد کردند. او بخاطر گناه خودش مُرد.
4Why should the name of our father be taken away from among his family, because he had no son? Give to us a possession among the brothers of our father.”
4پس چرا نام پدر ما فقط برای اینکه پسری نداشت از بین قبیله اش محو شود؟ ما خواهش می کنیم که برای ما هم مثل خویشاوندان پدر ما مُلک و دارائی داده شود.»
5Moses brought their cause before Yahweh.
5موسی عرض حال آن ها را بحضور خداوند تقدیم کرد
6Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
6و خداوند به موسی فرمود:
7“The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: you shall surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers; and you shall cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them.
7«دختران صَلفُحاد حق بجانب هستند. به آن ها هم در بین اقوام شان ملک و دارائی بده. همان حقی را که پدر شان داشت تسلیم آن ها بکن.
8You shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies, and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter.
8به قوم اسرائیل بگو که هرگاه مردی می میرد و پسری از خود بجا نمی گذارد، باید میراث او به دخترش برسد.
9If he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers.
9اگر دختر نداشته باشد ملک دارائی اش به برادرانش تعلق می گیرد.
10If he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.
10اگر برادر نداشته باشد به کاکاهایش داده شود
11If his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his kinsman who is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be to the children of Israel a statute and ordinance, as Yahweh commanded Moses.’”
11و اگر کاکا یا برادر هم نداشته باشد، پس دارائی اش به نزدیکترین خویشاوندان او سپرده شود. من خداوند، به تو امر می کنم تا به مردم اسرائیل بگوئی که باید این قانون را رعایت کنند.»
12Yahweh said to Moses, “Go up into this mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the children of Israel.
12خداوند به موسی فرمود: «بر سر کوه عباریم برو و از آنجا سرزمینی را که به قوم اسرائیل داده ام ببین.
13When you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was gathered;
13بعد از آنکه آن را دیدی مثل برادرت هارون تو هم می میری.
14because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the waters before their eyes.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)
14زیرا که هر دوی تان در بیابان صین امر مرا بجا نیاوردید و وقتی که قوم اسرائیل علیه من در مریبه شورش کردند، در حضور آن ها به تقدس و پاکی من احترام نکردید.» (مریبه چشمه ساری است در قادِش واقع در بیابان صین.)
15Moses spoke to Yahweh, saying,
15موسی بحضور خداوند عرض کرد: «ای خداوند، خدائی که سرچشمۀ حیات تمام بشر هستی، از تو استدعا می کنم که شخصی را بعنوان هادی و راهنمای این قوم انتخاب کنی،
16“Let Yahweh, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,
16تا بتواند آن ها را در همه امور هدایت کند، از آن ها مراقبت نماید و قوم برگزیدۀ تو مانند گوسفندانِ بی چوپان نماند.»
17who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of Yahweh not be as sheep which have no shepherd.”
17خداوند به او فرمود: «برو دست خود را بر یوشع، پسر نون که روح من در او قرار دارد، بگذار.
18Yahweh said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;
18بعد او را پیش اَلِعازار کاهن و تمام قوم ببر و در حضور همگی به عنوان پیشوای قوم تعیین کن.
19and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and commission him in their sight.
19بعضی از اختیارات خود را به او بده تا تمام مردم اسرائیل از او اطاعت نمایند.
20You shall put of your honor on him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may obey.
20او باید برای گرفتن هدایت از من پیش اَلِعازار برود. من بوسیلۀ اوریم با اَلِعازار صحبت می کنم و العازار اوامر مرا به یوشع می رساند و به این ترتیب، من آن ها را هدایت می کنم.»
21He shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before Yahweh: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.”
21موسی طبق فرمان خداوند عمل کرد. او یوشع را در حضور اَلِعازار کاهن و تمام قوم اسرائیل آورد.قرار امر خداوند بر سر او دست خود را گذاشت و او را بعنوان رهبر قوم تعیین کرد.
22Moses did as Yahweh commanded him; and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:
22قرار امر خداوند بر سر او دست خود را گذاشت و او را بعنوان رهبر قوم تعیین کرد.
23and he laid his hands on him, and commissioned him, as Yahweh spoke by Moses.
