¹Then I stood on the sand of the sea. I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads. On his horns were ten crowns, and on his heads, blasphemous names.

¹آنگاه دیدم که یک حیوان وحشی از میان بحر بیرون می آید که ده شاخ و هفت سر داشت. بر هر یک از شاخ هایش نیم تاجی قرار داشت و بر هر یک از سرهایش نامی کفرآمیز نوشته شده بود.

²The beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.

²این حیوان وحشی مثل پلنگی بود که پاهایش مانند پاهای خرس و دهانش چون دهان شیر بود. اژدها قدرت و تاج و تخت و اختیارات وسیع خود را به او واگذار نمود.

³One of his heads looked like it had been wounded fatally. His fatal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled at the beast.

³به نظرم آمد که یکی از سرهای حیوان وحشی که ضربۀ مرگبار دیده بود، از زخم کشنده اش التیام یافت. همۀ دنیا با حیرت به دنبال آن حیوان می رفتند.

⁴They worshiped the dragon, because he gave his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

⁴مردم اژدها را پرستش کردند، زیرا او اختیارات خود را به آن حیوان واگذار کرده بود. آن ها حیوان وحشی را نیز پرستش نمودند و می گفتند: «کیست همتای این حیوان؟ کیست که بتواند با او بجنگد؟»

⁵A mouth speaking great things and blasphemy was given to him. Authority to make war for forty-two months was given to him.

⁵به آن حیوان اجازه داده شد، سخنان گزاف و کفرآمیز بگوید و به مدت چهل و دو ماه سلطنت نماید.

⁶He opened his mouth for blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his dwelling, those who dwell in heaven.

⁶او زبان خود را به کفرگویی بر ضد خدا باز کرد. به او و مأوای آسمانی او با تمام ساکنان آن ناسزا می گفت.

⁷It was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them. Authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation was given to him.

⁷او همچنین اجازه یافت تا با مقدسین خدا بجنگد و آن ها را شکست دهد و بر همۀ امتها و ملتها و زبانها و قبایل دنیا اقتدار یابد.

⁸All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been killed.

⁸تمام مردم دنیا او را پرستش خواهند کرد، یعنی کسانی که پیش از پیدایش عالم نام شان در کتاب زندگی که متعلق به بره ذبح شده می باشد، ثبت نشده است.

⁹If anyone has an ear, let him hear.

⁹ای کسانی که گوش دارید بشنوید:

¹⁰If anyone is to go into captivity, he will go into captivity. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, he must be killed. TR reads “If anyone leads into captivity, into captivity he goes. If anyone will kill with the sword, he must be killed with a sword.” instead of “If anyone has captivity, he will go into captivity. If anyone is with the sword, he must be killed.” Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

¹⁰اگر قرار باشد کسی به اسارت برود، به اسارت خواهد رفت و اگر قرار باشد کسی با شمشیر کشته شود، با شمشیر کشته خواهد شد. بردباری و ایمان مقدسین به این حقیقت بستگی دارد.

¹¹I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke like a dragon.

¹¹آنگاه حیوان وحشی دیگری را دیدم، که از زمین بیرون آمد. او دارای دو شاخ مانند شاخ های بره بود، اما مثل اژدها سخن می گفت

¹²He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. He makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.

¹²و وقتی در حضور حیوان اول قرار داشت، از قدرت و اختیار او استفاده می کرد و همۀ زمین و ساکنان آن را به پرستش حیوان اول، که زخم کشنده اش التیام یافته بود، مجبور می ساخت.

¹³He performs great signs, even making fire come down out of the sky to the earth in the sight of people.

¹³او معجزات بزرگی انجام می داد، حتی در مقابل چشم همه از آسمان آتش بر زمین بارانید

¹⁴He deceives my own NU omits “my own” people who dwell on the earth because of the signs he was granted to do in front of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast who had the sword wound and lived.

¹⁴و با معجزاتی که اجازه داشت در نام حیوان اول انجام دهد، ساکنان زمین را فریب داد و به آن ها گفت که پیکره ای به افتخار آن حیوان که با شمشیر زخمی شده و هنوز زنده بود، بسازند.

¹⁵It was given to him to give breath to it, to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as wouldn’t worship the image of the beast to be killed.

¹⁵او اجازه یافت به پیکرۀ آن حیوان بدمد تا بتواند سخن بگوید و تا آنانی را که پیکره را پرستش نمی کردند، بکشد.

¹⁶He causes all, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slave, to be given marks on their right hands, or on their foreheads;

¹⁶از آن گذشته همه را از کوچک و بزرگ، توانگر و بینوا، آزاد و برده، مجبور می ساخت که روی دست راست یا پیشانی خود علامتی داشته باشند.

¹⁷and that no one would be able to buy or to sell, unless he has that mark, the name of the beast or the number of his name.

¹⁷تا هیچ کس نتواند بدون آن علامت خرید و فروش کند، و آن علامت یا نام آن حیوان بود و یا عددِ نام او.این محتاج حکمت است و هر صاحب خردی می تواند عددِ نام آن حیوان را که ششصد و شصت و شش است حساب کند. زیرا که آن، عددِ انسان است.

¹⁸Here is wisdom. He who has understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is six hundred sixty-six.

¹⁸این محتاج حکمت است و هر صاحب خردی می تواند عددِ نام آن حیوان را که ششصد و شصت و شش است حساب کند. زیرا که آن، عددِ انسان است.
