²He said, “I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. I cried. You heard my voice.

³For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.

³Vi jxetis min en la profundegon, en la internon de la maro, Kaj fluego min cxirkauxis; CXiuj Viaj ondegoj kaj ondoj iris super min.

⁴I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’

⁴Kaj mi pensis:Mi estas forpusxita de antaux Viaj okuloj; Tamen mi rigardos ankoraux Vian sanktan templon.

⁵The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.

⁵CXirkauxis min akvo gxis la animo; Abismo min cxirkauxis; Junko kovris mian kapon.

⁶I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever: yet have you brought up my life from the pit, Yahweh my God.

⁶Mi falis malsupren gxis la fundamento de la montoj; La tero baris min por cxiam per siaj rigliloj; Sed Vi, ho Eternulo, mia Dio, elirigis mian vivon el la pereo.

⁷“When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Yahweh. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.

⁷Kiam mia animo senfortigxis en mi, mi rememoris la Eternulon; Kaj mia pregxo alvenis al Vi en Vian sanktan templon.

⁸Tiuj, kiuj servas al vantajxoj, Senigas sin je favorkoreco.

⁹But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.”

⁹Sed mi kun danka vocxo alportos al Vi oferon; Kion mi promesis, tion mi plenumos; Savo estas cxe la Eternulo.

¹⁰Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.
